Jing Cheng removed his hand on Jing Bai's mouth and Jing Bai sucked a deep breath. "You are right, da ge. I remember now – " he said as he turned and looked at Jing Hei and Qian Lin crossing the swinging bridge and now in the middle of it where it was the lowest point it could sink.
The knotted vines that are holding the bridge on both ends are creaking as it swung, creating an ominous sound that make one's go cold and their feet feel cold. Added to the fact that the wooden planks that have aged for who knows how long, for every step you take, you don't know when they will give in and break.
Jing Bai felt the goosebumps appeared on his skin and his heart thudded loudly as he watched Jing Hei and Qian Lin with trepidation when they stopped at the middle of the bridge as if they were taking a break. "What the hell are they doing?!" he hissed as he stood from where he is.
Jing Cheng followed as he feels anxious just watching the two. "Maybe Qian Lin is about to fall in his knees." He guessed. After all, no matter how Qian Lin ignore the fact that they were standing from a high place without a visible ground beneath their feet, the swinging motion of the bridge as they cross remind him of their situation.
"Da ge…" Jing Bai called.
Jing Cheng nodded. "Let's help – " he said. He still hasn't finished his words when his voice sank after they saw the vines holding the bridge snapped and the bridge made a loud groan. It was followed by Jing Hei's bellow and Qian Lin's scream.
"AH HEI! QIAN LIN!" Jing Cheng and Jing Bai cried after they recovered from their shock. They immediately ran to the bridge and held the end of the vine where it snapped, then caught Jing Cheng and Qian Lin.
"DA GE?! JING BAI?!" Jing Hei exclaimed in shock when he saw Jing Cheng and Jing Bai. Jing Cheng grabbed his arm while Jing Bai grabbed Qian Lin's.
"AAAAAH!" Qian Lin was still screaming in fear because of the weightlessness when they fell earlier.
"Ugh!" Jing Bai groaned in pain when he and Qian Lin rocked in the air and his elbow hit the wall.
Jing Hei snapped from his daze and he turned to Qian Lin. "Ah Lin! Ah Lin!" he called as he kicked the wall by his foot and jumped towards Qian Lin, hugging him, with his other arm while his other arm was still held by Jing Cheng. "Ah Lin, Ah Lin!" he called. "It's fine. We're saved! We're saved by da ge and Jing Bai. It's fine now – " he said as he appeased his lover, planting kisses to Qian Lin's cheeks and lips to comfort him.
Qian Lin's tightly shut eyes trembled and slowly opened. He saw Jing Hei's smiling face, followed by Jing Cheng's and Jing Bai's figures. "Ah Hei… Jing Cheng and Jing Bai?!" he exclaimed.
"Yes, Ah Lin. We're saved now. Da ge and Jing Bai arrived and saved us in time!" Jing Hei explained before he lowered his voice. "Are you calm now? I'm really sorry. I should've held you tighter." He said and sighed as he hugged Qian Lin.
"Ah Hei… it was me who should've trusted you more earlier – " Qian Lin said as he cried.
"Hush now…" Jing Hei helplessly said.
Jing Cheng and Jing Bai who were blinded by the two's PDA. "…" damn it. Can we just drop them now? How can they still hug and kiss at this hour?! They are too passionate!
As the eldest, Jing Cheng tried to be calm. "Go climb up on us, then pull us up." He told Jing Hei and Qian Lin.
"T-that – " Qian Lin's voice trembled. To climb up from a very high place…
Jing Hei may be very soft towards him, and Jing Bai considerate, but Jing Cheng wouldn't in this time of danger, especially at their current situation where they are a hair's breadth from their death.
"If you're afraid with even this, how can you survive the later situations we'll be facing in this place?" Jing Cheng asked.
"Da ge - !" Jing Hei cried, but then stopped since he knew Qian Lin is the one at fault for being so delicate.
"I…" Qian Lin said and bit his lip. He knew he is being unreasonable.
"Climb, or fall." Jing Cheng said.
Qian Lin's face paled. However, he didn't look at Jing Hei this time. He knew, this is the challenge he has to overcome alone. "Climb." He answered.
"Ah Lin…" Jing Hei called. However, he didn't stop Qian Lin. Qian Lin has to face his fear alone, or he will never overcome his fear in this lifetime. "Don't look down." He told him. "Just look up. Up." He said. "You can do it." he added.
Qian Lin's bloodless lips mustered a smile to Jing Hei.
"Don't turn!" Jing Hei told him. "Just face upward and never look down." He told him.
"Y-yes…" Qian Lin answered as he started to climb on Jing Bai's arm and reached his shoulder, then pulled himself up.
Jing Bai sighed. Fortunately, Qian Lin isn't that heavy, and even lighter than Jing Kang. "You climb up, too, fatty." He told Jing Hei who was hanging onto Jing Cheng's arm.
"Shut up!" Jing Hei snapped at Jing Bai.
Jing Bai just rolled his eyes at Jing Hei before his eyes froze when he inadvertently glanced across them. "… fuck." He cursed.
"What is it?" Jing Cheng asked before he turned to where Jing Bai was looking at, frozen. Then, he also cursed. "Fuck!" he gnashed his teeth.
"What?!" Jing Hei asked.
"W-what is it?" Qian Lin, whose hands reached Jing Bai's head, turned to ask. However, like Jing Bai, he was also frozen. "Oh, no – " his face paled once again in horror.
"What – " the Jing brothers were about to ask when they suddenly heard the scuttling sound coming closer to them. Then, their eyes widened in shock when they saw some creatures climbing all over the walls. "FUCK!" they cursed altogether.
They are surrounded in all directions by large, crawling insects!
