Yu Sheng didn't ask and just looked at the top of Zuo Zhe's head as the other lean on his chest. Zuo Zhe raised his head and met Yu Sheng's eyes. They talked through their gazes, and nobody spoke. They went back to the others after calming their emotions.
"Huh? Young master Zuo, where did you and Yu-ge go?" Feng Mo asked when they saw them return.
"We – " Zuo Zhe opened his mouth to speak, but he doesn't know what to answer. After all, when one lies, he has to prepare ten more lies to cover up his lie. And it is bothersome. But, how can he tell them the truth? That what they are facing against is… who they are facing against is… "We – "
"Looked for clues or something valuable." Yu Sheng answered.
Zuo Zhe looked at him and saw that he didn't even made a blink when he lied. Yu Sheng's expression is as still as the surface of a frozen lake.
"Oh…" they all muttered and then placed the wild flowers they found around on top of the grave of the child that died.
Zuo Zhe and Yu Sheng finally behaved and watched the Xinfaxian Sect disciples, Zunjingde Sect disciples, Qian Lin and Fei Lin prayed in front of the child's grave.
"Such a short life…" Zuo Zhe can't help but sigh.
"You don't know him?" Yu Sheng quietly asked.
Zuo Zhe shook his head. "I don't know all the details of this world." He spoke what he has spoken earlier. What he meant, someone gave him the information of this world in the form of 'ideas' as his natural 'gift'.
Yu Sheng didn't spoke again and they silently watched the others continue to pray.
"Oh, right." Zuo Zhe spoke when he remembered something.
Yu Sheng turned to him and stared. "… you just can't keep your mouth shut. Want me to shut it up?" he asked and licked his lips as he greedily looked at Zuo Zhe's slightly gaping lips.
Zuo Zhe immediately closed his mouth and pressed his lips as tight as a clam. He shook his head. In order to ask Yu Sheng, he grabbed Yu Sheng's hand and wrote on his palm. "These two groups of demonic cultivators… one is under the control of Wu Ran. The other group is under the control of the Heilong emperor – these demonic cultivators that are tribesmen." He said. "Since these two groups are fighting, can we assume that Wu Ran and the Heilong emperor are also fighting?" he asked.
"Yes." Yu Sheng answered. "'One mountain cannot contain two tigers'. There can only be one king. Emperor." He explained.
Zuo Zhe nodded in understanding. Then, he wrote on Yu Sheng's palm again. "Since Wu Ran is our common enemy, why don't we go to the Heilong Realm to talk with the Heilong emperor and propose collaboration?" he asked.
Yu Sheng fell silent.
"Yu Sheng?" Zuo Zhe called.
"Zhe." Yu Sheng called.
"Yes?" Zuo Zhe answered.
"Have you forgotten what kind he is?" Yu Sheng asked.
Hearing this, it was Zuo Zhe's turn to fall silent. What Yu Sheng is asking is not the kind of being that man is, but the man's nature. "Right…" he muttered in a low voice and lowered his head, remembered how he wrote that man's character setting.
He closed his eyes, only remembering one word describing the man: destructive. Wherever he goes, he will leave that place in a total destruction. Whoever he meets, that person or group of people would meet their end.
It was said that when he was young, his mother died giving birth to him. When his father saw his black eyes that are dark as the night, he thought he was a demon and tried to kill him. The midwife, although scared towards the child, but she has, after all, helped many pregnant women give birth. So, she tried to stop the infant's father from killing his son.
The two fought and the father accidentally stabbed the midwife. Then, the father, out of guilt and seeing his wife also dead, added the fact that his child is a demon, killed himself. Only the newborn child was left alone in that small house. Fortunately, his cries were loud so the neighbors found him. But, after they saw the three corpses in the house, they were frightened and deemed the child as inauspicious, so they left him in the house and hurriedly left, afraid the misfortune would attach itself to them.
They ignored the cries of the child and they even stuffed their ears to not hear the child's cries. They did their best to avoid passing by the house. But, a few days later, they noticed that the child's cries disappeared. They all were puzzled and went to the house, only to be shocked to find that only the three corpses remained and are rotting.
But, the infant was gone. They were struck by fear and went back home and closed their doors and windows, afraid that the child died and became a demon, and would return to kill them because they have left him to die. They didn't know if that was what happened, but as the days passed by, people started to become sick.
The old people died first, followed by the middle-aged people. The disease is unknown, so they couldn't find the cure. Finally, only the young ones were left alive in their village. These young people didn't know what happened to the infant that was left to die after it caused three people's deaths. They also don't know how the disease struck them, nor where it came from.
Fortunately, they already know how to cook and work when young, so they weren't starved to death. Time passed and they grew up. The memories of when their parents and grandparents died returned and they felt fear they will also die.
Their fear is well-founded. They really died for some reason. They blamed it on this unknown disease that plagued them for years. They thought that the disease came from the animals, so they killed all the animals. Because they didn't have a source of meat, they became vegetarians.
However, the disease struck them again. Someone died. Since there were no animals, they blamed it on the plants. They burned all the plants and the trees. They decided to only drink water to continue to live. Yet, death continued. They became thin now, and their cheeks were sunken for they have only water to drink, and nothing to eat. Could it be, the disease came from water? But, if they would also stop drinking water, they will really die!
Regret filled their hearts. They shouldn't have killed the animals. They shouldn't have burned the plants and the trees. They should've just stopped drinking water! But, like this unknown disease, there is no cure for regret.
Some people, driven by hunger, eyed the other people. They cannot relieve their hunger anymore, so cannibalism began. Those who are the oldest and the weakest were the ones who were eaten – whether dead or still alive.
Competition started, and killings became rampant. Until there were only two people left.
"I won't kill you." One of them said. They are friends.
"Then, I will." The other one said and smiled as he punctured his friend's heart with his hand. "Your mother was the one who proposed to leave me to starve to death. I really died, and became a demon like my father thought. "Whether I was really born as a demon true or not, that doesn't matter anymore. I've finally gotten my revenge." He said as he took out his friend's heart from his chest and ate it in front of his friend who stood still before him, the blood coming from the hole on his chest as his body slowly becoming cool.
"I… am sorry…" his friend spoke with much difficulty. "I didn't… know…" he said.
The other one didn't answer and just continued to eat his friend's heart.
"If I could…" his friend spoke. Using all his strength, he mouthed the words he wanted to tell him before he closed his eyes and his body collapse on the ground.
At the same time, the heart on his hand that gradually stopped beating, fell to the ground. Only half was left after he didn't finish eating it. "… disgusting." He muttered as the unspoken words of his friend replayed in his mind.
"If I could… I would've killed them all by myself and taken you away…"
The other villages have long noticed that none of the villagers living near the forest appeared for a long time. When a hunter came, he saw that the village was empty. He concluded that the villagers living near the forest must have migrated, so the other villages didn't bother with them anymore and continued their life.
Meanwhile, the child who was born to bring misfortune, after getting his revenge, stopped appearing and only resurface when someone died unjustly and avenge them. Later, a demon with pupils, not the usual red but black, became widely known and those who have grudges towards other people prayed for him and became his followers.
This demon became a god, but since he is still a demon despite being revered as a god, he was called 'Hei Shen' (black god) – the god of destruction, for when he comes, he will leave with that place or people destroyed.
