Chapter 14 - The Birthday Party Begins

I was awoken in the morning by Lona. The night before I stayed up late into the night agonizing over the Dante situation. I was in no mood to wake up.

I smacked her hands and grumbled, "I don't have to go to school today. Let me sleep in."

"Today is your birthday party. You need to get ready so that you can greet your guests later."

"Party? Guests? No thank you, Lona. Tell them to come back another day."

She dragged me out of the bed while scolding me, "Your father put a lot of work into this party. A lot of highly ranked nobles will be attending."

I mumbled, "That's not my problem."

Lona ignored me, "What would you like to wear today?"

"Something sexy." I winked at her.

She frowned at me and pulled out a dress. My face dropped.

"Please not that."

She held a sailor dress that was blue with white trim. It looks like something you would put on a baby. No doubt my father bought this Loli outfit.

She smiled slightly, "This one? Alright."

I looked at her in betrayal. First she woke me up, now she's trying to put me in a cosplay outfit?!

I tried to run away but I was no match for her. I'm shocked by how good she is at putting me in clothes while I try to run away. That should be the new Olympic sport.

To my dismay I was now dressed in a sailor outfit. I frowned at my reflection in the mirror. She began to tug on my hair while brushing it.

"Ouch ouch ouch! Careful!"

She pulled harder.

I yelped, "Are you trying to make me go bald?! Why are you being so rough today?!"

"Why are you being so difficult?"

I glared at her reflection and muttered, "I'm not being difficult."

She pulled my hair again.

"Ouch! Okay! I'm sorry! I will be a good girl today!"

She smiled, "Good."

What did I do to deserve this treatment? Ah. I want to sleep.

After she finished she stepped back. "Well? How does it look?"

I frowned, "I look like a child."

"Good. You are one."

I went to protest but quickly shut my mouth. I suppose if I disagreed with her, she really would think I was a child.

"I will come get you after your breakfast is set up."

"Yeah, yeah."

I watched her close the door behind her. I still sat in front of the mirror with my arms crossed.

Wow, the bags under my eyes are pretty noticable.

I leaned forward and began to poke at them. I glanced at my reflection and focused on my hair.

I hate it so much. It's not a bad color, but I absolutely abhor how it flips out at the end. Hmm. Maybe I could do something about it.

I searched the drawers in my room and pulled out a pair of scissors. I smiled as I cut the flipped out hair.

"There. No more flip."

*Fwip*

What. The. F*ck.

Did this b*tch just flip out again?! What the hell?! How is that even possible?!

"Hoho. You think you can beat me hair?!"

*Snip*

*Fwip*

*Snip snip*

*Fwip*

"What are you doing?!"

I turned towards the shouting voice to see Lona staring me down from the doorway.

I paused. Wow. She looks angry.

"Hey Lona. Is breakfast ready now?"

"Don't Lona me!"

She rushed over and snatched the scissors from my hands.

"What did you do to your hair?!"

I shrugged, "I cut it."

Duh.

She glared at me, "I see that. I want to know why."

"It flips out at the ends. It was annoying so I tried to make it stop."

She rubbed her temples, "How can you be so smart and yet so stupid."

"Hey! I resent that!"

"I bet you do." She surveyed my hair and began to fix it with the scissors. "I hope you're happy with yourself. I can't believe you would do this today of all days!" She stepped back, "There."

I pouted at my reflection. Now my hair was so short is stopped at my ears. The worse part was that it still flipped out at the end.

Lona grabbed the matching hat and placed it in my head. She styled it and sighed, "I'm so going to get yelled at for this."

I smiled at her, "It's alright if you blame me."

She stared at me blankly, "Oh I will."

She grabbed me and began to drag me down the hall. Oh man, she's really pissed. When we entered the room I sat in my usual seat and looked up. My mother and father sat at the table staring at me. My father dropped his fork.

My mother shouted, "What happened to your hair?!"

"I cut it."

"Why would you cut your adorable hair?!" My father shouted. I could almost see tears in his eyes.

My lip trembled, "Daddy... Do I look ugly?"

"No!" He quickly shouted, "My baby girl looks even cuter!"

I nodded. Yup. And that's that. I quickly began to stuff my face with food.

My mother glared, "Where are your manners? How can you just stuff your face so innocently after coming down looking like that?!"

"Dear. You of all people shouldn't be criticizing her manners."

My father glared at her with a frightening expression. My mother grew quiet and swallowed her anger. Heh. That's right.

He then turned his attention to me completely switching his personality, "Are you excited to see your friends today?"

I frowned. Friends? I don't have any. What is he going on about now.

Lona leaned forward, "Today is your birthday party. Your classmates will be coming over."

I began to choke on my food. Lona gently smacked my back.

I was so sleepy this morning I wasn't paying attention when Lona said I'd have a party. Who the hell decided to throw a party without consulting me?! It's my f*cking birthday! I don't want to entertain brats who are still in diapers.

"Aren't you excited?!"

I looked at my father's face who was brimming with excitement. For some reason I couldn't tell him the truth.

I forced a smile, "So excited!"

After breakfast I snuck back up to my room. Lona found me a few hours later. She began to drag me out.

"Come on. Your guests are arriving."

"Nooo! I don't want to hang out with toddlers!"

"Stop being difficult. You are ruining your clothes."

She picked me up with one arm and carried me like I was a bag of potatoes. She brought me outside where I noticed a huge spread of food and tables. My mouth began to water.

She spoke, "You can eat as much cake as you want, but only if you greet everyone first."

"Really?!"

"Yes. And be polite."

She sat me down and I saluted her, "Yes ma'am!"

She shook her head in exhaustion, "It's going to be a long day."

The first person I noticed was Queen Luna. In this world, it is customary to greet the highest ranking noble first. I skipped over to her and curtsied.

"Good afternoon Queen Luna. I am so honored to have you at my birthday party."

She smiled at me, "I am so happy to have been invited."

It is strange though. Why did she attend? Usually she only comes to high profile events. A child's birthday shouldn't count.

She bent down and squeezed my cheeks. I fought the urge to smack her.

"Ah! You are just too cute! Why can't I have an adorable daughter like you?!"

I smiled up at her, "I wish I could be your daughter too! I would be so happy to have such a pretty mother!"

"Aw! Aren't you sweet? Maybe I could have you as my daughter. Say, how do you feel about William?"

No. Not like that. I don't want to become your daughter like that!!!

I made a face, "Boys are gross."

She chuckled and released my cheeks, "Well I suppose you are too young to know what I mean. It's alright, I will ask when you're older."

Please don't.

She touched my hair, "What happened to your hair?"

I looked up at Queen Luna. She had platinum blonde hair that nearly looked white. She always had it pulled up in an intricate bun design. It made her hair look shorter than it was.

I pointed to her hair, "I wanted hair like yours so I tried to cut it."

She chuckled, "My hair isn't short though. It's just the style."

I feigned surprise, "What?! Really?"

She squeezed my cheeks again. "You are just too cute! Everytime I speak with you I always feel so giddy."

Wait. Is she a lolicon too?!

She smiled at me, "I brought you a few gifts."

"Really? You shouldn't have!"

"It is my pleasure. Just promise me you'll come over one day so I can dress you up!"

I smiled brightly, "I would die from happiness to be able to spend time with the magnificent Queen Luna!"

She clapped, "Wonderful! I will talk to your parents about it! I left your gifts over there."

I followed her line of sight and froze. In one area there were stacks and stacks of gifts all wrapped the same way. Did she really get me all of this?!

"I can't wait to see what's inside!"

I curtsied and excused myself. I can only hold up this cute act for so long. Luckily, I doubt she'd actually have me over. Queens and Kings are too far above my family in the social hierarchy.

I continued to greet the adults making sure to keep up my cute act. It was rather hilarious to see my mother doing the same, but they all quickly shooed her away. Maybe this will teach her a lesson, but I doubt it.

I rubbed my cheeks. They are so sore from all of that fake smiling. Thankfully, I finished my job with greeting and thanking the adults for coming. Even though I don't understand why I had to since I wasn't the one who invited them.

As I made my way over to the desert table, I saw two familiar figures.

I instantly frowned, "What the hell are you two doing here?"
