As we ate our meal, I felt my body shiver. I immediately looked at Dante assuming he was glaring at me. I was surprised to see he wasn't.
He noticed my look and raised an eyebrow.
So if it wasn't Dante... Than why do I feel like someone is glaring at me?
It's... It's coming from behind me isn't it?
My head slowly turned around and was automatically drawn to the bookcase in the unnaturally dark corner. Bright blue eyes shined through the darkness as if they belonged to a demonic ghost.
I dropped my fork, "G-GHOST!"
Everyone jumped at my scream and looked at the corner. William just sighed. He spoke apathetically, "Mathias. Sit down and eat."
Mathias took one step out of the darkness revealing his dignified form. He was average height with a scholarly aura. He wore glasses and held a book in his hand. Like Dante, he preferred darker colored clothes, but he preferred to wear more formal clothes.
Mathias had long black hair which was pulled back loosely and parted down the middle. His bangs covered the sides of his face. His eyes were a dark blue that seemed to glow in the dark.
Mathias glanced at William coldly, "I don't want to eat."
William's face twitched, "Just sit down."
Mathias didn't respond but went and sat next to Dante. His movements looked like an automatron.
Noticing he wasn't really a ghost, I took a deep breath and held my chest, "D*mn. I almost sh*t myself."
William glared at me, "Stop being vulgar."
I stuck my tongue out at William then turned to look at Mathias. I stared at him and he stared back at me with unwavering cold eyes. His glare sent shivers up my spine.
Holy sh*t. This bastard could give Dante a run for his money.
But like everyone else, he wasn't what he seemed. He appeared to be the cold and serious kind of character, but in reality he was a big softie. He just had social anxiety which made it hard for him to communicate properly.
He rarely spoke, but when he did it came off extremely rude. However, the more comfortable he is with someone, the more you wouldn't be able to get him to shut up.
Because he seems so unapproachable and unfriendly, he never was able to make friends. All Mary did in the original novel was give him with attention and he was hooked.
I hate to admit it, but he's also one of my favorite character types. Right behind Dante and Artie.
Why?
Well that's because he's the type that's extremely fun to tease.
I gave a mischievous smile, "Mathias was it? Could I call you Matty?"
Mathias didn't respond, but his face grew darker.
I tried to refrain from laughing, "Since you don't mind, then I will call you Matty from now on."
I watched him for a while and his eyes never left mine. His body looked extremely rigid and his face seemed to be growing darker by the minute.
While most people blush when they're embarrassed, Mathias is different. Instead of blushing, his face gets darker and more scary looking.
"Matty~ Why do you keep staring? Perhaps you're hungry?" I grabbed my plate with an uneaten sandwich and pushed it over to him, "You can have mine."
"No." He said coldly in an almost robotic voice.
"Oh? Do you have lunch of your own then?"
His body grew more rigid which made me smile more.
"Let me guess, you're too afraid of how many people there are in the cafeteria, so you choose not to go?"
His face grew darker showing that I was right.
I couldn't help but giggle, "So you'd rather starve then go to the cafeteria? Tsk tsk tsk. No, that won't work. A growing boy needs his food. I guess I will just have to start giving you half of my meals."
He looked surprised by this and looked up at me. I smiled and gave him a wink.
I can't help it okay? I have a soft spot for the shy boys.
William scowled at me, "You're offering half of your meal? Are you sick or something?! You normally guzzle down your food like you're dying from starvation."
I glared at him, "Well if you have a problem with it, offer him some of your food then!"
"No way! He can go to the cafeteria for his meal if he is so hungry."
While me and William were bickering, Mathias took a bite of the sandwich slowly. "Thank you..."
I almost didn't hear the words he just said. They sounded more like a soft breeze than actual words.
I gave him a big grin, "Of course! What are friends for?"
His eyes drooped down with a twinge of happiness. Whenever you try to befriend an introvert, you should loudly declare that you're friends. Trust me, they won't argue.
William tried to look like he didn't care, but he seemed a bit relieved to see Mathias gain a friend. Even more surprising, Dante gave him an encouraging pat on the back instead of glaring at him viciously.
Artie immediately felt attacked that he was subjected to Dante's cruelty when Mathias was not.
William cleared his throat after a while, "Well we can get started with our meeting. Seri and Artie, since you're both new to this, I will explain a few things. The student council usually meets during lunch and after class."
I pounded my hand on the table, "This is unfair exploitation."
He ignored my outburst and continued, "I will briefly explain everyone's jobs. Mathias is the student council historian."
I shrunk back in disgust at the mere mention of history. I hissed, "What the hell does that even mean?"
William explained, "He's in charge of the archives and helps maintain the accuracy of the history of the Academy that's passed down each generation."
"And why is that necessary?"
William ignored me, "Artie. You've been assigned the position of the student council secretary. You're in charge of recording the meetings and making sure everyone has the necessary materials."
I raised my hand, "Once again, why is that necessary?"
He looked at me, "Seri, you're the student council treasurer."
My face lit up, "I'm in charge of money?"
"Not just money. You create and maintain the budget. You also have to keep up with bookkeeping."
I nodded vigorously, "Of course you would chose me to maintain the money! I'm super trustworthy!!"
He frowned, "I chose that because you are freakishly good with math and numbers."
"I'm going to take that as a compliment." I glanced at him, "But what about you and Dante? What do you two do?"
"I'm the president. Dante is the vice president. I'm in charge of supervising the group and running the meetings."
I nodded, "Got it. So Dante's job is to stay at your side like a knight protecting his Princess."
William scowled, "No. He's here to make sure you idiots do your job."
I smirked at him, "Well he's not doing his job very well. Aren't we missing a member?"
As in, the last love interest in the original novel. Also a character I couldn't stand. The charismatic playboy.
William sighed, "Yes. That would be Lucius. He's always late. He's the student council coordinator. He's in charge of public relations and speaking with donors. Even though he's an idiot, he's not totally useless."
Just then, the door flung open. A crowd of girl's giggled behind the red haired man. I scowled with a sour taste in my mouth from the scene in front of me.
Ah, yes. The charismatic playboy. Every novel always had to have one. I never understood why these character types were so popular.
I loathed them more than anything. What's the allure of a man who plays around? Yeah, I'm not interested in expending energy so that he would "only notice me".
Also, haven't they heard of sexually transmitted diseases?!
Nope nope nope. Hard pass on that one. The only way I would touch a playboy would be to dig my heel into his [omitted].
He stepped inside blowing kisses to the girl's outside. "I'm sorry ladies, but duty calls." They all whined and he winked to them, "Wait for me."
He shut the door on their squealing faces. He strolled in and ran his fingers through his messy red hair. He gave a smug smile, "Sorry, I got caught up with something."
William ignored his excuse, "Lucius, this is Seri and Artie. The new representatives."
Lucius nodded to Artie, but when he got to me his smile froze. His face turned red with anger as he pointed, "Oi! You're that b*tch that humiliated me!!!"
I slowly raised my middle finger to him. This made him even angrier. William just ignored us both, "Let's all get along."
Lucius stomped his foot, "Yeah right! I would never get along with such an annoying b*tch."
I stood up clenching my fist, "Who you calling an annoying b*tch?! Oh, I see. You're just jealous a girl kicked your a** in front of everyone."
His nostrils flared, "Jealous?! Yeah right!!! I bet you cheated somehow!!! I saw the way you held that bow! Your arms were shaking like the weakling you are!"
"That bow was too big for me!" I rolled up my sleeves and held my fists out, "I will gladly take you on a**hole! Then we will see who the weakling is!"
He flipped his hair with a smug expression, "I would never hit a girl... Even one that doesn't look like a girl at all." He scanned my body, "No wonder I easily mistook you for a man."
My veins throbbed on my forehead, "OI! WHAT THE HELL YOU TRYING TO SAY?!"
"I'M SAYING YOU'RE FLAT!"
"I'M NOT FLAT!" I looked at Dante, "Dante! Tell him I have nice boobs!!!"
Dante looked at me then his eyes moved slowly down to my chest.
"..."
I instinctively covered my chest, "Dante?!"
Lucius laughed, "Hah! See! Even he thinks so."
I ran over to William and shook him madly, "WILLIAM! TELL HIM MY CHEST IS NICE!"
William blushed violently as I shook him, "That... I... Uh... What?!"
I left him to his brain malfunction. I looked at Millie with watery eyes, "Millie...."
She giggled and rubbed my head affectionately, "I think your chest is very lovely."
Lucius rolled his eyes, "Please. A nice chest is like that one over there."
He pointed to Mary who blushed like a tomato from being pulled into the embarrassing argument.
Okay... I can't argue with that one.
That Mama is packing some nice sweater stretchers. Seriously. She's got the kind of melons that just shout back pain.
I stomped my foot and sobbed, "It's not my fault I got the itty biddies!!!" I wiped my tears and pointed at Lucius, "At least I'm not a walking flesh bag of disease!"
"WHAT?!"
I snickered at him, "With how many girls you got around you, I'm pretty sure you'll die within a year from Syp-"
"I WILL NOT!! I'M NOT DIRTY AT ALL! YOU'RE JUST JEALOUS GIRLS WANT TO HAVE ME IN BED! NO ONE IN THEIR RIGHT MIND WOULD WANT TO SLEEP WITH YOU!!!"
"YEAH RIGHT! TONS OF PEOPLE WOULD LIKE TO SLEEP WITH ME!" I shouted back defensively.
Everyone watched the scene in front of them confused by the argument. William was blushing madly while Dante just sat there expressionlessly. Mathias mouth was hanging open as his innocent mind tried to process what was happening.
Mary was so horrified she blushed and covered her ears. Artie, on the other hand, was enjoying the argument. Millie was used to such strange arguments, so she just ignored it.
Lucius shouted back at me, "YEAH RIGHT! I BET YOU HAVEN'T EVEN GOT TO FIRST BASE WITH ANYONE!"
"I'VE GOTTEN WAY PAST THAT! FOR YOUR INFORMATION ME AND DANTE WERE NAKED IN A HOT SPRING TOGETHER!"
The entire room went silent. My body froze up. Even Lucius froze from the sudden revelation.
Everyone turned to look at Dante whose ears were turning red, yet his face remained expressionless.
I coughed awkwardly, "I... I misspoke."
