208 Kissing Death Away 1 The Sinners's Queen

Name:The Sinners' Queen Author:FallenBlue
Present time. A year and a half from when Gio tried to go back to Alina City.

...

...

Alessa always wanted to see Chris. But this time, her desire to lay her eyes upon his figure was very intense, it felt like death would come to take her heart if she didn't see him as soon as possible.

She knew it was not an after effect of the fever. Her body and mind were now perfectly fine. Her brain was working perfectly again and so everything she witnessed and experienced that time returned to her, vivid, as clear as day, like the moving pictures of a slideshow or movie.

What did he feel when he saw her fainting at the sight of what he most probably braved just to show her?

She was a full-fledged actress so the hobby of putting herself in somebody else's shoes had long become inscribed into every inch of her skin and bones.

If it was her doing that, and she witnessed what he did, what emotions would have consumed her?

Her heart ached so much. She was nearly going insane from anger. At herself.

Her memories were no longer hazy hence she could vividly see in her mind how at lost he looked before she fainted.

When did he ever show that face? The man was the only person she knew who could be said to be a living embodiment of the word indifference. He should be staying as such. What had gotten wrong?

'...I don't know.' she told herself.

At the same time though, she didn't know why she said that.

When in fact she had some clues.

Alessa was not stupid. Or even if she was, how could she be so amateurish in her own craft to not even recognize the kind of face he made and what emotions flickered across those beautiful hazelnut brown eyes that she loved?

Expectations. Or maybe hope. For acceptance.

She then realized.

'... We're both desperate fools.'

If so...

She must then show him that her love for him was pure and unadulterated. That no amount of mysteries and supernatural would waver her heart away. After all, her feelings for him did not bud merely due to superficial reasons like him being one of the few people she could depend on.

The woman went out of the unit escorted by Aura, yet when she tried to look for him, she didn't find the man.

And this continued for more than a week. A week-long span of time that greatly tested her sanity.

She didn't know what tricks Chris played in order to hide from everyone else for more or less 7 days that he would be at C Empire, attending a three-day-long fan meeting there.

But when she got wind of the news, at the very next minute, an emergency flight had been booked, regardless of whether she had an interview, photoshoot, and filming to supposedly worry about for the next day. In fact, she even had Diaz hacked into the airport's records to put their names on the earliest flight to C Empire.

That was how badly she wanted to see him, that man who she one hundred percent loved as dearly as her life.

...

Chris was currently in a dire strait.

The fan meeting in this empire was naturally his guise to check on the government's intel regarding their country's immoral hosts. He made the trip personally since he planned to also do an infiltration once he gets hold of the real location.

The first goal was never a challenge for him.

So where was the dire strait part?

It was when he found out that the hideout in the desert was merely one of the locations and that all over the capital city of the empire, there were other underground hideouts used purely for torture and all sorts of inhumane practices.

He tried to infiltrate the one nearest to the police and army headquarters, yet putting aside the stomach-churning sight his eyes laid upon there, a level 4 host was actually in the premises. Were it not for the man busy doing bedroom exercises with one of those supposed female captives there, and Chris managing to catch him off guard in the midst of that, he would probably have already died.

Of course, Chris did not actually go to battle without any preparation. What he just didn't expect was the presence of another host who was at the same level as him, except Official.

This person ended up half-dead through his attacks, yet before that man lost consciousness, he sent the non-host supporter he raised after the heavily wounded Chris whose points had been drained to less than a hundred. Almost all his items were thrown at the enemies as well. Everyone else was weeded out aside from that non-host supporter.

'... F*ck my life! That a*shole is immune to mind control and could not be inquired about too!'

The burly man sent after him was merely a non-host with enhanced physical and mental attributes, but the problem was that he just confronted and barely survived from two hosts' attacks.

Even a tiger would be killed by the stomp of a deer if it was too incapacitated. The same applied to him. Apart from the deep chest wound and several bruises and cut in his arms and shoulders, few bullets also lodged inside his stomach and thighs. The other in hot pursuit of his trails was uninjured and in perfect condition.

'... Just a little more and I'll be in the parking lot... System, used my remaining points to clean up any trails of blood, its scent and mine too.'

As he went through the rows upon rows of cars, he was looking for one which was open or had someone about to come out of it, planning to ambush the owner and steal the vehicle. At times like this, he seriously hated why Hacking was the third level awarded skills instead of Lockpicking. If only that was the case, he could have just picked whatever car was to his liking and drive away with it.

Behind him, sounds of gunshots echoed, making him swear profanities once again.

'Damn it! That lunatic has no qualms about taking innocent people's lives!'

The location they were at now was a shared parking lot for three buildings, the luxury club with the terrible underground torture chambers, the fancy restaurant in front of it, and a golf club next to the restaurant.

Chris supported himself by grabbing onto the rows of cars and roadblocks used as separators of layers on the way. His steps quite unsteady due to his hazy vision. As he zigzagged through space, he finally reached his goal.

A figure in furry coat and skirt was about to climb out of her seat, he could see the car door half-opened.

Without checking who the person was, he pushed her deep into the interior of the vehicle using his right hand. He entered as fast as he could with the other hand pulling the door closed.

As he took the driver's seat for himself, his ragged breathing faintly resounded within, Chris squinted his eyes sideways at the masked burly figure in a brown jacket whose freehand did not even try to conceal the gun in the other. The non-host supporter towered over the vehicles nearby, standing almost seven feet tall at the center of the dark parking lot.

'Son of a beast! He's an extremely precise marksman, who's worst of all, in the best spot possible. I'm sure he'll shoot down the car tires if we drive away now.'

Because the full attention of the man had been on the approaching enemy, he didn't see the extreme surprise that crossed the face of the woman staring blankly at him right now.

When Chris saw that the non-host was checking each car along their side one by one, his pupils dilated. He then promptly turned his head to the one he had pushed back into the seats, meanwhile, planning how he'd make it past this crisis.

His mind blanked out after, not expecting the face he would see.

Questions of course popped up in his mind. Why was she here? Why did she appear at times like this?

But in the next second, he recovered from the shock. He could feel his heartbeat hastening beyond the normal rate due to the incoming figure. It was a do-or-die situation!

The half-host steeled his heart and grabbed the slender shoulders of the woman. "I'm very sorry. Cooperate with me. Please!"

"...E-eh? Wait! I can see that you're in bad shape. We should first drive you to the hospital. W-what's happe----"

"Please, cooperate!"

The next second, the woman's mind blacked out, and she couldn't continue what she wanted to ask.

She just remembered a masculine scent which accelerated her heartbeat wafting over her nose, burying the metallic and repulsive odor. Then she, the famed actress of Country F just found her eyes almost only three inches away from the man's face, switching place with him, with him half-lying on the other side and her appearing as if she had just climbed onto his upper body.

All of this amidst his hand that held her head and waist in place.... both her eyes wide open when their lips locked into a silent kiss.
