"Please wake her up now. We've already completed your quest, it should mean you're now at Level 6, right? You can buy that whatever Exorcism skill then, and vanquish whatever's keeping her in a coma!" Ver's expression was sincere when he pleaded this to Sofony, yet his anxiousness could also be seen on his face.

Gio's eyes narrowed as he placed down the tray in his hands on the table. More than anyone here, he knew there should be no problem with that Wendy anymore. After all, the ghost hiding in her brain was now in his old gold coin and was no longer attacking her barely protected soul.

He looked at Sofony who seemed to be communicating with her system. Then to Ver who was watching her nervously.

'Weird, a day has already passed.' His cold eyes went to the coin he fished out from his pocket. Sofony too glanced at it. He was guessing the girl already knew he was keeping a ghost and that the ghost could only come from Wendy's body.

Gio met his fiancee's questioning gaze and nodded. He then spoke to Ver.

"Let's check on that sleeping girlfriend of yours. I need to confirm something." He paused for a moment and turned to Sofony, "I need you to come with me, Sofie. But since you've just woken up, you must be feeling weak. Do you want me to carry you?"

While he said that, the girl was actually perfectly fine and could instantly heal herself even if she was not. The room was also just twenty steps away. It wouldn't take much time going there. However, while this was the case, for Sofony since the man volunteered, it would be not her fault if she takes that offer. Anyway, this was obviously him wanting to make up for knocking her out hours ago.

"You bought the skill, right?" Gio asked her.

She nodded. In her mind, it was branded that he was also a system user so she didn't find it weird that he knew so much about the system.

From Wendy's bedside, the other man urged her to do what she needs to do. Sofony complied since she also wants to see her friend waking up.

"Hey..." Five minutes after performing the art, Ver glared at her. "Why is she still not waking up?"

In front of them, Wendy remained the same. Her breaths were stable but her complexion was deathly pale. Her eyelashes never fluttered once. She was just lying there, unmoving and asleep.

Ver looked heartbroken seeing no change in his girl's condition. He began roaring at Sofony and even though her lips were trembling in anger and her breathing became ragged, Sofony didn't talk back.

She only pursed her red lips and threw a complicated gaze at Gio who appeared deeply contemplating the situation. In reality, she was very curious why the man did not stop her from purchasing the skill and even advised her to do this. They both knew the peculiar half-host had left Wendy.

"... There's no more evil spirit in her," she said to Ver after the long period of silence.

The man who had now looked like a mad dog furiously barked, "If there isn't, how come she's still not opening her eyes? Are you f*cking kidding me? I eliminated more than half of their bases for you so you can level up and have the means to wake her up!"

Should she just fight it out with this annoying man? Didn't see she was also as sad as he was?

"Ver Drilon. I admire you for your dedication to this Wendy but if I were you stop talking down to her or else I'll make you regret it." Gio warned in a low voice. The air around him changed into a dark one, all solely concentrated on the angry young man.

"Gio."

Hearing the extreme distress in his fiancee's voice, he stopped and sighed. It was surely the ghost's fault. Or maybe his too since he probably made it retaliate by casting something weird on Wendy. While breaking the coin into two, he told her, "Sofie, check her again. Instead of dispelling the spirit, dispel any residual whatever left by it. That should do the trick."

Sofony communicated with her system again and purchased information on how to do what Gio suggested. Ver quietly watched from the sides.

'If this still doesn't work. It means something else is going on,' thought Gio who disregarded the unnerving cries and wails he began hearing.

In his mind, he thought it must be something system-related, or a pinnacle illusion from a level 7 ghost half-host. It was regretful but beings like ghosts only knew how to do harm and not to dispel. No outside aid would be able to help her. She must battle it on her.

In the end, Wendy did not rouse from her sleep. And Ver became very hostile to Sofony.

...

When Chris woke up, the first thing that greeted him was a head-splitting headache that almost made him wish for death. Yet he found out that same headache could actually grow worse than it already was when his memories before he lost consciousness came back to him.

'Right... Leo Jones kidnapped Alessa and I, the stupid fool, went to rescue her. Where am I now?'

The cold-faced young man stood up from the bed and went to the window-side to sweep the thick red curtains made out of velvet to the side. Darkness entered his eyes after. Though a couple of seconds later, through the lights coming from the garden's lampposts below, he saw that there was someone running towards the parked car near a fountain.

It was Alessa who seemed to be anxious about something. He observed the place a bit and irritatedly told the damnable liar in his head.

"This is not the Morgans' mansion. Alessa's not yet called back by those people to the main house. There's also no way, she'll bring me to that place. Refund me the points or answer me seriously."

"She didn't bring me to a hospital?"

"Shut up. Tell me next if Sofony and the others are still alive. If five days passed, how did her mission go?"

It started to narrate to him all that had happened. Of course, what it told him was limited to what it could access. There was no way for Chris' system to report to him about Leo Jones' current whereabouts and what truly happened to Sofia and her friend, Maila.

Chris went to check himself after and noticed no abnormalities in him. He looked around the room for a while and when he found no clothes he could change to, he purchased a set from the system and then headed out.

Nobody was in the whole house so even though the villa was relatively smaller than most, it seemed very huge since he was the only one there. In the living room, he found Alessa's laptop and used it to check all the other events that happened within the country while he was unconscious.

The man only sneered after seeing the rescue video that was still trending all over the world.

'Once I see that woman, I'll ask her what gets into her head to do something like this. Even if she has concealed her face from the camera and deleted all the videos, didn't she know that if those people higher-leveled than her who saw her inquired who she is, the system will still say who she is regardless of her disguise?'

Chris shook his head and went back to work, only calming down when he confirmed that Leo Jones' party did not make a move when he was unconscious. It must have something to do with Gio scaring the heck out of that troublesome bomber. For a while, he wondered if this meant it would be okay to assume they would be fine for some time...
