Hearing what Phoebe just said, Josef laughed in distress and shook his head helplessly. "Why do you all think that I have a girlfriend?"
Josef's words made Phoebe feel more awkward than she had initially felt. She had admitted that she had preconceived notions of him and she really assumed that he had a girlfriend because of his appearance and charm.
Moreover, his words suggested that she was not the only one who had mistakenly assumed to know of his relationship status.
"I believe Isla has told you a lot about me already, as much as I have heard about you from my cousin. I think we can get to know each other first as friends, and if we really feel that we are compatible, then maybe we can try moving to the next level." Sincerity was completely reflected on Josef's handsome face.
He glanced at Phoebe with his deep brown eyes, making her feel giddy.
"Please, don't misunderstand me. In fact, I am not a person who would initiate courtship. Maybe, after I know more about you and we decide to meet each other again, I think we might learn that we have much in common." Josef didn't want to scare a woman he liked, especially when they had just met.
In fact, it was not the first time they had met, but Phoebe might have forgotten their previous encounter already.
"Hmm, okay then." She was suddenly at a loss for what to say.
Josef called a waiter over and ordered for them, and then they both started talking about their interests while waiting. When the dishes were served, Phoebe looked at him in surprise.
Was it a coincidence, or did they really have the same taste in food?
When he ordered their meals, she hadn't even noticed.
"Do you like to eat these?" Phoebe couldn't help but admire Josef even more.
"Hmm, do you like them, too?" Josef returned her look.
When they looked into each other's eyes, Phoebe felt an irresistible spark.
Perhaps it was their destiny, and she couldn't avoid it.
In the hospital
Sheryl sat beside Charles' bed and gave him a sponge bath, while lovingly telling him stories.
She had been talking to him every day, but Charles was still in a coma, unable to respond.
Sheryl wouldn't miss a day not attempting to converse with Charles. It seemed that if she didn't talk to him, she would be missing a task on her checklist.
"Charles Lu, wake up. I have much to tell you. You always make me ta
ryl's expression.
Isla knocked on the car door, which alerted Sheryl to finally get out of the car.
However, Sheryl was still terrified and couldn't help but look around again. After confirming that there was nobody else, she finally relaxed.
"What on earth happened, Sher? You said somebody was following you? What did they look like? Did you clearly see him?" Isla thought of what Sheryl had said and felt even more worried. She didn't know who followed Sheryl earlier. She just hoped that they were not Ferry's people who would take an opportunity to travel home after her.
"No, I didn't. I just noticed that a car was tailing my car all the time. I..." Sheryl stopped to think about her statements, and in fact, she was unsure if that car was really following her at all.
Hearing Sheryl's scared words, Isla shook her head helplessly and suddenly let out a big laugh.
"Sher, you are being extremely nervous if you actually think that everyone is your enemy. Don't you know? Is there anybody out there?" Isla patted Sheryl's shoulder to assure her and to remind her of her concern.
Sheryl felt a lot better as Isla comforted her for a while.
The three had a good chat for a while, and Isla decided to send Sheryl back home.
"Honey, stay with our child tonight. I will drive Sher home and return tomorrow." While saying goodbye, Isla stood on her tiptoes and kissed Aron's forehead.
Aron understood the situation and didn't have any objections, but reminded Isla to drive slowly and carefully.
He saw Sheryl and Isla off before going upstairs to their kid.
