Sheryl truly believed that Charles was still coming back safe and sound. It was just a matter of time. So she wasn't too worried that someone else was taking over the company. What worried her more was when Charles was coming back.
The sooner Charles came back, the easier it would be for him to fix whatever problems Leila had made. She was just afraid that if Charles didn't come back soon, it would be too late for him to fix anything.
"What are you waiting for? You're Charles' wife. You can just walk into the company and kick Leila out. I'm sure no one's going to stop you," Isla said to Sheryl. She was agitated that Sheryl wasn't doing anything to stop Leila.
Sheryl walked to Isla and put her hands on her shoulders in an attempt to calm her down.
Then Sheryl said to Isla, "Of course, I won't let anything happen to the Shining Company. But we shouldn't act on impulse. That would only alert Leila. What matters most now is to investigate this, so when we confront Leila, we have a lot of evidence, and it'll be easier to ask her to leave."
Isla realized that she was being unreasonably impulsive. She nodded her head as she agreed with Sheryl that it was better to wait and see.
"Fine, you're right."
Still, Isla couldn't help but be worried. Before leaving, she told Sheryl she was going to hire a private detective that could investigate Leila.
Sheryl knew that Isla was very impulsive. She was afraid that Isla would get out of control and do something crazy. So she quickened her pace and caught up with her as she said, "Isla, please, do not act on impulse. Look before you leap. Even if you don't get anything, stay calm and don't do anything that'll make Leila suspicious, okay?"
"Alright, I know! I have much more experience than you when it comes to investigation." Isla was a little annoyed. She then left.
Shaking her head, Sheryl decided to let her go.
When she went back to her office, Sheryl got a call from Cassie.
Cassie sounded very hesitant when she greeted. It seemed as if she had a lot to say but just didn't know where to start.
Sheryl glanced at her watch. It was already lunch time. She then said to Cassie, "
al. She thought about what she had been through with Charles. If Charles hadn't gone missing, she would just have let their problems go unresolved. However, after what had happened in Malaysia, what was the most important to her right now was that she and Charles tried to fix things.
So when she had returned from Malaysia, she had told herself that as long as Charles came back, she was willing to forgive him, and they could finally start working things out.
Cassie was lost in thought while she considered what Sheryl had said, After a moment, Cassie nodded at Sheryl and said, "Sher, I got it."
"But you still can't forgive Nick, right?" Sheryl interrupted as she could see right through Cassie.
Cassie nodded.
"Okay, then, I will talk to Nick. What you need to do now is to clear your mind and think about what you really want," Sheryl said to Cassie sincerely. She hoped that Cassie would trust her.
Cassie had always trusted Sheryl, and this time was no exception.
Sheryl breathed a sigh of relief.
After that, neither of them mentioned Nick, as if they were both deliberately trying to avoid mentioning his name.
"Cassie, take care of yourself. Nothing matters more than your health. Don't let yourself get all worked up because of overthinking. Sometimes the more you think about it, the more it will upset you," Sheryl reminded Cassie before she left.
Cassie nodded her head and watched as Sheryl walked away.
