Charles hadn't drunk this much in years. If he didn't stop now, it might take a toll on his health.
"Mr. Lu, you can't..." David didn't know how to stop him.
Mr. Xu didn't like that David was trying to stop Charles. He waved his hand and said, "Mr. Lu, don't listen to David. Let's just continue drinking."
Charles looked at David and said, "You can excuse yourself now."
"But... Mr. Lu..."
"Get out!" Charles said in a cold voice.
David had no choice but to leave.
He was worried about Charles. Even when he was obediently standing outside the private room, he made sure he was still watching Charles.
Mr. Xu was pleased when David left. He was aiming to get Charles drunk in an attempt to teach him a lesson.
Mr. Xu kept making Charles drink while he drank, too.
Meanwhile, David was restless as he helplessly stood just outside the private room.
He found Mr. Xu was being suspicious in refusing to discuss the project and for constantly getting Charles to drink. Mr. Lu was also acting strangely. He was suspicious of Mr. Xu too, but he still kept drinking.
Mr. Lu was a wise and calm man. Why would he do that? Maybe he was in a bad mood because of Sheryl.
David figured that he needed back up to help Mr. Lu.
He then hurriedly took his phone out and called Sheryl.
The phone rang and rang until Sheryl finally answered the call.
"Hello. Who is this?"
"It's me, David," David said hastily.
"Okay, what's up?" Sheryl asked coldly after a pause.
David ignored this as he told Sheryl about the situation. "Mr. Lu has been drinking so much. You know he has stomach issues. I'm worried that..."
"Why are you telling me this?" Sheryl said flatly.
"I just want..." David was a bit disappointed. He didn't expect this of Sheryl.
"Well, is there anything else you want to say?" Sheryl asked.
David didn't know what to say. He had expected that Sheryl would offer to come and help Cha
At that moment, a woman was standing by the doorway of the private room.
Sheryl stood there with a cold expression. She smiled bitterly to herself.
She knew that Charles wasn't the type to be manipulated by others that easily. After all, Charles was a wise and proud man.
She didn't owe him any kindness. While she had initially been so scared for Charles that she had hurried to get here, she knew now that she hadn't had anything to worry about.
It was just Charles manipulating others.
Sheryl scanned the room with her eyes before turning to leave.
As soon as Mr. Xu arrived at the gate of the hotel, he saw his driver there. Suddenly, his phone rang. It was from their headquarters.
"Hello, Mr. President." Mr. Xu changed his tone respectfully as soon as he saw the caller ID.
"You've been taken off this project. Just get back here as soon as you can."
"Why?" Mr. Xu asked in disbelief.
"Don't ask questions. Just get back here." The president didn't seem to be in a mood to talk. He hung up as soon as he finished talking.
Mr. Xu was confused as he held his phone. He was quite angry. Just as he was about to leave, someone walked up to him.
"Mr. Xu, do you already know? You're being taken off the project by your company." Charles approached Mr. Xu.
