255 Not Even A Strike

The chaos that erupted during the earlier times of the era of recuperation of reiki was indescribable. It was a massive chaos for human society. The biggest reason for the chaos came from the humans themselves.

What would an ordinary person who was scolded by their leaders do when they suddenly find out that they have superpowers? The answer was obvious. Kimura Kazuki did his research when he first joined the Spiritual Academy. There were a lot of people caught by the Spiritual Academy who had the same kind of mindset like Takeshi Yuta.

Most of them thought that it would not matter if they killed some people when they have the ability to after the recuperation of reiki because they thought that their government would need talents like them. When the time for recruitment comes, they could hold off on that for a while and the government would surely forgive them for that. Worse comes to worst, they could just join other local organisations. 

After all, the differences between a man with superpowers and an ordinary man made them feel superior.

Due to this, one's mindset would become imbalanced. Only those with high self control would be able to recalibrate themselves. Those who refuse to change would turn to the path of crime.

However, nothing could be done if they were so unstable to the point of wanting to kill someone.

Of course, there were some excellent individuals who still knew their responsibilities after obtaining these powers. However, there were always more evil than good. People only refrained from doing things rashly due to rationality.

That was the reason behind the chaos during the recuperation of reiki. After a long time of suppression, the sudden outbreak of reiki almost destroyed the order of human society completely. Fortunately, the country's government was strong enough to quiet it down within a few years. Of course, another factor that should not be ignored was that there was an abundance of reiki to the extent that huge progress could be made if it was used to practice. 

It was possible that the recuperation of reiki could cause countries to fall and change the Earth to operate on families and classes.

While thinking, Kimura Kazuki continued asking Takeshi Yuta, "When did the pencil in your hand awaken its powers?"

Takeshi Yuta wanted to answer but he paused and thought twice before he replied coldly, "Why should I answer that? You government officials are unbelievable. Do you recruit talented people forcibly like this?"

Takeshi Yuta still thought that Chiba Shiori and Kimura Kazuki were government agents up until this moment. He had been keeping a low profile and did not leave home much. Even if Yuichi were to die, it would be extremely difficult for others to relate the happenings to him. 

In his previous life, people like Takeshi Yuta who were underaged would end up in only two situations in the Spiritual Academy.

For a minor with powers who have done something dangerous due to an imbalanced mindset, as long as what he did was not too out of line or crazy, he would have a chance of starting over a new leaf in the Spiritual Academy. As long as one was talented, strong, capable, and did not commit crimes too out of line, the government would be willing to give him a chance at a new life.

Takeshi Yuta was actually right. Talent would always be welcomed anywhere. As long as that person was not crazy, everything would be forgivable. However, if one had been committing crimes for a long time, had an imbalanced mindset and was caught, even though one might be underaged, there would only be one end for that person. He would be used for experimental purposes until the day he dies.

During the era of recuperation of reiki, ordinary laws were for ordinary people. There were special laws which only applied to the supernatural world.

That was why Kimura Kazuki still refused to join the Department of Mysteries even when Arisu Yuusuke took a liking to Natsuna Yamanaka's apparition. 

Joining the Department of Mysteries meant that he would have to follow the rules of the department and he could not be too forceful with his methods since the department itself represented the Japanese government.

Going to the Arisu Shrine meant that he had to follow the rules of practitioners in Japan. Since the reiki had yet to recuperate, it was a norm that the stronger ones were made the leaders, and the weaker ones were stepped on. That was why everyone was fighting to be stronger. There would be no point in practising if a person still gets humiliated by the weak even though he was strong.

Therefore, the government recognized these laws and rules, understanding that there were certain things that would require professionals. That was why Arisu Yuusuke had to die. It was not about him taking care of his own reputation, it was about the ego of the strong individuals in the practitioners' circle, it was a law which could not be defied. This was what the red bird meant when it said that "the dignity of the strong can never be violated."

What Kimura Kazuki meant when he asked Takeshi Yuta the question was to find out how long had he gotten the power. Takeshi Yuta's mindset was clearly different from an ordinary person. Handling 100 ghosts had clearly made him see himself as a divine being.

If it was acquired within three months and caused an imbalance of his mentality, there was still hope for Takeshi Yuta if he went for counselling.

However, if it had been more than three months, there would be basically no hope for him. If one never knew his own limitations, there would be no way to save him. Takeshi Yuta might look like any other ordinary person, even a cute one with his chubby cheeks, he was clearly different from others due to his god-like mindset.

From what he did to Ayumi Murakami, it was clear that he had a serious disregard of life.

The little ghost was a test for Ayumi Murakami, he had said. Clearly, he had thought too highly of himself.

There was rage in Takeshi Yuta's eyes. Kimura Kazuki's forceful methods had made him very upset. He had been subtle for the sake of this country and to leave a good impression on Chiba Shiori, but now that he knew that they were not from the government, his rage became unstoppable.

"Shuten-dōji, Ushi-oni, you're up!"

Takeshi Yuta ordered and the demons in front of him lunged forward. He kept the Tengu and Tamamo-no-Mae by his side because he was clear that he was weak. Besides, who knew what Kimura Kazuki and Chiba Shiori were capable of doing, he was simply taking precautions.

Aside from the two, there were more demons who appeared behind Kimura Kazuki. It was clear that he understood the principle that no matter how weak a rabbit is, a lion still has to put in energy to hunt it. He could only ensure his own safety by killing his enemies!

He did not really care about the consequences of killing Kimura Kazuki. He thought that a man who was handling 1000 ghosts was the strongest man in this world.

He was probably the main character of this world.

With this thought in mind, Takeshi Yuta grinned. His smile had depth in it. 

However, his expression changed drastically at the next moment. "That's… That's impossible."

He only saw a blue light propel around them. Then, he heard shrill screams from his demons, before all of them dropped dead.

Even the strongest among the demons, Shuten-dōji and Ushi-oni, were defeated in just a second.

At this very moment, Takeshi Yuta felt like a god who was thrown down to earth. He could not accept what was happening right in front of him.
