94 Charms and Swords

Draig hadn't wasted any time and had started crafting charms but before he started to craft them in bulk he decided to test his theory lest he end up a wanted man selling fraudulent goods. He had searched for a long time before he found a tree with a dead branch hanging from it's side which would be an appropriate target for his test, grabbing a rock from the ground he concentrated and flung it with all his might hoping to knock the limb from the tree and thus bringing it to fall upon him however it wasn't that simple and the rock had only knocked a chunk from the branch but it still clung to it's support.

Draig narrowed his eyes and picked up another stone before flinging it again only knocking another chunk from the branch but still it didn't fall.

Draig growled as he began flinging the rocks at the arrogant branch in a rapid fire type motion until finally he heard a snap and the branch came falling from above, the Feratu grabbed his charm and was going to fling it towards the branch but he suddenly found himself tackled out of the way causing him to curse.

"Damnit" grunted Draig as he looked at the one who had 'saved' him.

"Are you okay little guy" asked a friendly looking girl with a hime cut hairstyle.

"No, I am not okay. You interrupted my experiment" grunted Draig but it did nothing to convey his anger as his childish face removed all intimidation he had possessed as an adult. To those who didn't know of his circumstances Draig was nothing more than a child of ten but to those of his own world he was the Heir of Feratu. The heir of a monster of a man and humanity's greatest foe.

"Oh? What were you trying to test" asked the girl in doubt.

"My charms effectiveness" grunted Draig though it looked more like a pout.

The girl stared at Draig for a long time thinking that maybe the boy was touched in the head, to think his charms would provide actual protection.

"I see, you realize that it is only a pieve of paper right" asked the girl causing Draig to narrow his eyes before he noticed the sword at the girls side.

"So you doubt the effectiveness of my charms, thinking them to be mere slips of paper. Then may I suggest a wager" asked Draig seeing a much better opportunity to test his handiwork.

"A wager? What kind of wager, what's in it for me" asked the girl in interest.

"If my charm stops your blade then you must buy the rest of the charms I have made" stated Draig causing the girl to pay rapt attention.

"Then what about if you lose" asked the girl curiously.

"I'll pay you double what that sword is worth" stated Draig even though he didn't have any money to his name.

The girl seemed to light up at that offer which caused Draig a great deal of curiosity.

'How much is that sword' wondered Draig thinking maybe he had missed something.

"Deal" cried the girl drawing her sword in a flash catching Draig by surprise but still he was already holding the charm and flung it in front of him where it floated and blocked the girls sword causing an orb of protection to appear around Draig shocking her.

'What in the heaven's grace have I just witnessed' thought the girl with widened eyes.

Draig however was amazed at his own handiwork as even he had held some doubt to how well it would hold up, but before he could finish marveling at his charm's effectiveness he heard three more strikes clang against the barrier formed from the charm. He looked to the girl who was swinging at the barrier savagely until on the fourth strike the barrier broke and the charm turned to ash.

"I broke your charm" smiled the girl causing Draig to narrow his eyes.

"That was not the deal" stated Draig causing the girl to look at him.

"If my charm stopped your blade then you would buy all the charms I have on me, if my charm proved useless then I would pay you double the worth of your sword. It took four strikes to break my charm meaning it stopped your blade four times, you have lost" stated Draig causing the girl to grimace hoping that the Feratu didn't have many on him.

"Fine, it's not such a bad deal anyways." sighed the girl as she displayed a wallet of sorts containing an odd assortment of paper causing Draig to stare curiously.

"How many and how much" asked the girl

"I think five hundred should be fair" stated Draig as he displayed seven different charms he had created, two were for protection while the others were of an offensive nature being fire, lightning, and earth.

The girl stared at the seven Charms and realized she couldn't read the words upon them, this was because Draig had written them in the ancient Vampire language of which only he could read now.

"Are these like the other one" asked the girl curiously as she handed over the bills adding up to the sum Draig had requested.

"Two of them are for protection while the remaining five are for attacking. Fire, Earth, and Lightning, it doesn't matter which you use as long as you are able to hit your target but it is imperative you say release upon casting them out" stated Draig causing the girl a bit of confusion.

"I didn't hear you say that" noted the girl as she looked at the youth in front of her oddly.

"I can activate them remotely thus there is no need for me to speak" answered Draig as if it was obvious.

The girl nodded and was intending to talk more with Draig but the Vampire was already leaving, he had his money and he had proven the effectiveness of his charms thus he was off to find somewhere he could have a sword made and fill his stomach.

'Odd kid....' thought the girl when she realized she had never caught the Feratu's name.

Draig had already disappeared from her view by this point and was searching the town when he heard the whistling of wind and found his path blocked by the same girl from before.

'I need to bring him with me before someone else realizes his talent' thought the girl but unknown to her someone else had been watching Draig in the forest as well and was quite keen on taking in the Vampire to monopolize on his talents.

"Is there something else you wish to discuss" asked Draig though there was a slight tensing of his fingers, an old habit he couldn't shake when it came to a potential battle.

"Yes, actually I was hoping to" started the girl until another woman made the scene though she seemed much colder.

"You, boy. I wish to speak with you" stated this woman it must be known that the two women were only around the age of thirteen while Draig appeared to be a mere ten.

The woman who had appeared possessed ink black hair that hung around her shoulders, her face one of a calm and calculating person.

"It seems I am quite popular today" muttered Draig

"Yuki, what are you doing here" demanded the girl who had bought Draig's charms.

"I simply wish to discuss business with the boy here, it is nothing that you should concern yourself with Ari" stated the calm Yuki though you could see the trace of smirk on her lips.

Ari stared at Yuki with narrowed eyes, hoping to know her intentions but it seemed fruitless.

"Then it is something I should concern myself with, what is it you seek woman. I have no ties with you yet you have sought me out without any prior knowledge of my existence, quite odd if you were to ask me" cut in Draig drawing the two women's attention.

"I merely wish to discuss some things about your little talent" stated Yuki causing Ari to widen her eyes in surprise.

Draig on the other hand was wondering when this woman had seen him display his charm's ability, it was something he should have realized. However he had never even noticed this person's presence, it was unsettling.

"What is it you wish to discuss then" asked Draig hoping for a clearer insight. However he was given a different response than expected.

"Come with me and we can discuss your needs, such as becoming a Deva" stated Yuki with a pleased smirk upon seeing Draig's eyes perk up with interest.

'Interesting, I have yet to express my interest publicly. We shall see where this goes then' thought Draig as he nodded and followed Yuki leaving Ari behind with a look of panic as she rushed home.
