Chapter 12 - 12: Finished My First Quest!

"Uh. . . Let me check!"

{Hey Zoe, can you open up my quest log for me?}

[. . . You should already know how to do that. . .]

{. . . Sorry! I have forgotten how!}

[Ok. . . Look at yourself in your vision. Once you do that look above to the left of your character. You should see Quests! Once you see it, think about it for a few seconds, and then it should pop up with all of your quest details.]

{Alright, thanks Zoe!}

[No problem!]

So I did what she told me to do, which I happened to see what she meant by looking above left of my character. There was indeed a spot where it said 'Quests!' on it So I thought about it for a few seconds, and it happened to pop up in front of me. I looked at the quests that I currently had, which is the slime quest.

"It looks like we have killed 5 out of 15 slimes so far Orion."

{{Alright, still gotta kill 10 more of them!}}

"Yep, let us continue! Now let us find more of these slimes!"

We continued killing slimes for awhile longer, it was now close to 6pm when we killed the last slime.

"Holy crap, I'm really tired now!"

{{Same here, is it ok if I take a nap around your neck that way I don't fall off?}}

"Yeah that is fine!"

After he jumped onto my shoulder, and wrapped himself around my neck, he instantly started snoring.

'Hmm. . . I'm really not sure if he is snoring or growling. . .'

I decided to walk back towards town in order to turn in my quest. I didn't have any equipment with me to sleep outside, so my only option was to head back towards town to sleep. It had taken me about an hour to walk back to the main road to get to the town. I could see the town gate from the direction I was walking from, once I got there the guard stopped me.

"Halt! What is your business for coming here?" He asked me.

"I'm an adventurer!" I told him while showing him my adventurer's ring I was given.

"Oh I see, was this your first quest?" He then asked me while motioning the other guard to open the gate.

"Yes it was. I just happened to finish it an hour ago actually!" I told him.

"Well good job there! Well you can enter into town now." He said to me while motioning my forwards.

After I walked into town, I decided to head over towards the Adventurer's Guild. As I was walking, I looked around and the town was still filled with quite a few people still up and awake.

"Oh I'm sorry Arialle!" I told her.

"Oh it is alright, I should of been paying attention to where I was walking! So what are you doing here?" She asked me.

"I'm here to turn in my quest actually!" I exclaimed to her.

"Oh nice, well. . . Wait! You already finished your quest??" She asked me with a surprised look on her face.

"Uh. . . Yeah I did over an hour ago actually. I only had to kill 15 slimes." I told her while walking towards Faylin since she was still here.

"Hey Faylin! Don't you get time off? You've been here for awhile!" I asked her.

"Hey Arthrall! Oh yeah I do, I haven't been here all day. This is actually the second part of my shift." She told me.

"Oh alright, I would just hate to see you working so long. By the way, I'm here to turn in my quest!" I told her while taking my ring off to hand over to her, and the quest paper.

"Oh wow, you finished it quite quickly!" She exclaimed.

"Well I am a Battle Ranger, and I also have Orion helping me." I told her.

"Well that is true. Alright, let me take your ring, and the quest that way I can give you your rewards for completing it." She told me while picking up both items.

She then did something to the ring, which made it pop up a small video of me killing the slimes. It took maybe 2 minutes to watch the death of all 15 slimes.

"Alright, looks like you killed the required amount of slimes to finish this quest. So here is the reward for finishing the quest!" She told me while taking 10 silver coins from her pocket, and handed them over to me with my ring.

"I didn't know the rings had that function." I told her while grabbing the ring and the coins.

"Oh yeah, it is a magic charm that we put on the rings or badges before we hand them out. Now I would suggest you go to the tavern, and get Orion and yourself something to eat. You have had a long day!" She suggested towards me.

"Alright, thank you Faylin! Arialle you wanna come eat with us?" I asked her when I turned around.

"Sure, I'm pretty hungry after the stuff I had to do today." She said towards me while walking towards the exit.

"Alright, by any chance, can you show me where the fishermen are so I can buy some fish for Orion?" I asked her.

"Sure, they are this way." She told me, and turned towards the direction of where the fishermen were.

It had only taken us about 2 minutes to get to where they were at. After we got there I had bought 4 fish because I knew the Orion would be pretty hungry since we hadn't eaten anything since that morning. After I bought the fish, we went towards The Drunken Clam. It had taken us a couple of minutes to reach it. Once we went inside, we sat down at a table, and we ordered their special for dinner. I patted Orion to wake him up, he was still pretty groggy once our food showed up. I was too tired to really pay attention to the food we order. I didn't even know what I was eating at that point. Arialle and I talked for a little bit while we were eating, when all of a sudden we heard a loud belch. We looked down towards the noise and realized it was Orion. He had devoured the 4 fish I had bought for him earlier.

{{Sorry. . . It just kind of came out.}}

"Hahaha. . . It is alright Orion, It is better to let it out then to keep it in." I said to him while laughing.

"He sure can eat a lot." Arialle said while chuckling.

"Yes he can. Well since we are all done, I believe Orion and I should go upstairs to sleep. We are exhausted." I told her.

"Alright, by the way, I will be joining you guys for tomorrow's quest if that is alright." She said to me.

"Yeah that is fine." I told her while waving the waitress over to us.

"Yessum? Are you guys done with your meals?" She asked us with a smile on her face.

"Yes we are! How much is it for my meal, and for a room for the night?" I asked her.

"Your total will be 8 silver, and for the miss it will be 3 silver." She told us.

My eye twitched a little bit once she said my price, but I took at the 8 silver and handed it over to her. Once I handed her mine, Arialle handed over her 3 silver she owed her.

"Alright, give me a moment, and I'll get your key for the night!" She said towards me after taking our money.

"Well, I am going to head out. I'll be here in the morning once you wake up!" Arialle said to me while walking out of the place. After that the waitress walked back over to me, and handed me the key to my room. I looked at the key and noticed it was the exact same room I was in earlier. So I got up and walked upstairs to my room. After I walked into the room, I locked the door and told Orion to go ahead lay down on the bed. After that, I sat down on the bed and untied my boots. I took them off, then I rolled my legs onto the bed, that way I could be comfortable.

{Zoe, you still awake?}

[Yes I am. I don't sleep.]

{Oh ok, well I just wanted to say goodnight to ya before I checked my character, and went to sleep.}

[Oh alright, well goodnight! You did a great job today doing your quest, and controlling Orion.]

After I told her thanks I thought about my character stats, and it popped up for me.

After I looked at my stats, I turned towards Orion, and I scratched his head while I shut my eyes to fall asleep.
