Chapter 33 - 33: Confrontation!!

"Arthrall, it is time to wake up. It is your turn to watch." Arialle said.

"Huh. . . Oh alright, I'm awake. . ." I mentioned while yawning.

"Freaking hell I'm tired. . ." I commented.

"Same here, goodnight. . ." She mentioned while already falling asleep.

"I wonder if I should wake Onyx up or not. . . Nah, I think I'll let him sleep."

I walked out of the tent, and almost tripped over Orion.

"Orion?"

{{. . .}}

"Orion, wake up. You fell asleep right in front of the tent."

I watched him slowly get up, and walk into the tent. He probably fell asleep the moment he stepped foot in there. I walked over to the fire, to check to see if there were any dead animals, and there was. There were 2 dead rabbits, and a squirrel. They had already been cleaned, so I decided to put them into my inventory to hold them. I went around, and checked the traps to make sure that nothing triggered them. A few of them had been triggered, but there were no signs of blood anywhere near them. So I reset the traps, and hid them decently well. After that I went, and sat down next to the fire to calmly talk with Zoe.

{Hey Zoe, you awake?}

[Yeah, I don't sleep.]

{Oh you don't?}

[No. . . Sadly, I have to watch the other potential candidates for the System.]

{So. . . There will be more than just me. . . Will I know once they are here? Since I'm the very first one?}

[Possibly, it isn't like you will want to go meet them right away.]

{True. . . True. . .}

[The only way that would happen is if someone you knew came over, and that is highly improbable.]

[So what is wrong? You are still kind of down from earlier.]

{Yeah, I am. . . Sadly, I can't get it out of my head. By it, I mean I can't get Phillip out of my head.}

[Oh, you mean where you had to tell him, and then Faylin?]

{Yeah. . . I mean I knew I would have to tell Arialle, especially if we were going to be joining a party.}

[Yeah, unfortunately she had to know, or else she would have brought up a lot of questions that you wouldn't have answers for.]

{Indeed. . . I still don't fully trust her yet, but at the same time I do. Now Phillip on the other hand, I don't trust him. Which sucks. . .}

[Well, we will have to wait, and see what he plans on doing. If he ends up saying something else to someone, then we will have to take care of it, but if he doesn't then we don't have to worry about it.]

{That is true, I still just don't like it, and the simple fact that he had to tell Faylin. That is the other issue. . . Couldn't he have just told her to give me any amount of quests since he is the Guild Master of the Adventurer's Guild?}

[I can understand that, but at the same time, I don't believe he is the Guild Master.]

{You don't?}

[No, he doesn't really show the power that a Guild Master should have. He more or less shows that he is an Officer of the Guild.]

{Huh. . . I didn't really think of it like that. . . Which now puts even more stress on me. . .}

[Sorry. . .]

{It isn't your fault Zoe, it was mine for not thinking it through. Like you said, it was an instance where I couldn't think about it for too long. I mean it sucks yeah, but at the same time I have to let it go. I just really hope he doesn't tell anyone. . .}

[Well, all we can do now is leave it up to fate.]

{Indeed. . .}

[Well, what do you want to talk about now?]

{Well, I was thinking about the task we have ahead of us. How do we tell we are fighting a single pack, or multiple packs at once?}

[I do believe the quest will let you kill 5 of them for it to count. Now if you face one with 4, then it won't count. Same with anything higher, unless it is 10 of them.]

[Honestly, you are overpowered right now. Your stats are higher than what they normally would be for your level, and that is because of your gear.]

{I guess that is true. Do you think I should just let Orion and Onyx fight it out with them then?}

[Yeah you can try that, and see how far they will make it. You also have the potions you could give them if they get hurt too much. It will also give you a chance to figure out how to incorporate Onyx into the mix.]

{I guess you are right. I really am glad that you went with me, because this would have suċkėd if you hadn't.}

[Yeah, I guess it would have, wouldn't it? Hahaha. . .]

{It most definitely would have. Question, are you going to be leaving me once the others show up?}

[No, you're the only one that was allowed to have me. The others will have a system, but not as advanced as me. I can help you make the right decisions, where as the others are at their own.]

{Oh ok. . . Well that kind of sucks to be them I guess.}

[Yeah, but you gotta realize something. The more that I'm separated, the less I can be helpful towards everyone.]

[Why is that?]

{Well, no offense to you, but he could have talked with me physically. I could also read his facial features, to figure out if he was mad, happy, sad, or any others.}

[I can understand that, since I can only manifest for a short amount of time. Are you able to tell my emotions when I'm talking to you?]

{Yeah I can, just it makes it hard to visualize on you. Hahaha. . .}

{Uh. . . Zoe? You still there?}

[Yes, I'm still here. Was just thinking.]

{Thinking about what?}

[If there was any possible way I could show myself more. Cause if I was able to, then it would be easier for you. Would it not?]

{True, it would be easier, but at the same time I don't want you hurting yourself to do it.}

[Oh, it wouldn't hurt me. It would hurt you. Your Intelligence isn't remotely high enough yet to have me out constantly. I was just thinking about whether I should shut down some of myself in order to stay visual or not.]

{Well don't. I'll get myself to the right level, and Intelligence to where you could start having yourself be visual.}

[Alright, then I don't want to hear about you not being able to directly see my emotions or not.]

{Alright, fine. Hahaha. . .}

{By the way, how much time has passed already?}

[Only about 20 minutes, why?]

{Just curious to see if time was slower in my mind or not.}

[I mean, technically no, but I can either slow down time, or move it faster in your mind.]

{Oh ok. . .}

Just as soon as I thought that, I heard a noise from behind me. I thought it was Arialle, until I felt a sword on my throat. I instantly knew something was wrong.

"Move and you die. Who are you, and what the hell are you doing here?" Someone asked me from behind.
