Chapter 86 - 86:

"Well..." Kayda hesitantly said, looking away.

"Answer the damn question. It's not like I will run away." I said, shrugging before tilting my head and added. "I might be more silent until I figure out how to fix it, though."

"You promise you won't run away from us?" Kayda said, looking at me skeptically.

"I promise I won't," I said, lifting my right hand.

"Okay, yes and no. You don't have a split personality, but you do change in certain situations. Like when you are..." Kayda started to explain before I interrupted her.

"Killing, torture, having fun, teasing things like that, right." I continued saying, holding my chin.

"Yes, exactly like that," Kayda said, nodding, confirming my thoughts as well.

"Huh, so it is like I push back my urges change me. It kind of sounds like I don't have one personality, ha-ha." I said, laughing awkwardly.

"I won't say it's like that," Kayda said worriedly.

"Don't worry, I was just talking to myself," I said, walking closer to her. "More importantly, this morning, you said I don't have complete over my ice magic. Why did you say that?"

"Oh, that it's because when you created your dungeon, you worried more about the toughness that your ice lost its coldness. Like when you were busy freezing the people to my back, you knew that my scales were hot, so your ice should be colder, so it didn't melt easily." Kayda explains, forgetting all about the previous topic.

'Magic always gets her mind off things.' I thought, smiling.

"Yeah, I understand, but magic works with your imagination, so it makes sense that it will be like that," I said, getting confused.

"That's true, but you need to make your ice that it will work for any situation where it doesn't lose toughness or its coldness, and you don't have to think about it. Only then will you have 100% control over your ice." Kayda explains, grinning.

"But that is," I mumbled before going quiet.

"Hard, right. all you need to do is get your mana control up, then you will understand. If your done asking questions. I am late for your sisters' lesson," Kayda said, walking off.

"Thank you for the advice," I said before putting my attention back on the tied-up party.

'Seems I still have a lot of work to do.' I thought before lifting my fingers upwards. Ice chains with bladed ends came up from the ground embedding themselves into each party member's head. Seconds later, their body freezes completely over to only dispersing into small particles leaving nothing but a glitter effect behind in the air.

"No matter how many times I see it, it is always beautiful to see," I said before walking towards the training grounds my squad use.

"Hmm, oh, I am level 31, nice."

Arriving on the training grounds, I saw Catrina stand in front of Chinada, awkwardly holding a broadsword in both hands while Chinada had her 2 daggers out.

"Why a broadsword?" I said to know one particular.

"Aah, mom, you came," Apricot yelled from the other side of the training grounds.

"Tsk, damn doggie has no shame," I muttered, looking at Apricot and the rest of my squad standing next to each other.

"She really called her mom," Catrina whispered only loud enough that only Chinada and I could hear it.

"The amount of disrespect that dog is displaying towards my queen," Chinada mumbled, holding back her anger.

"Kitsuna, why are we testing this girl?" Brenda asks when I was close to them.

"It's a long story you will have to ask her after this. The gist of it is we are testing her because she doesn't have a class, and I want her to have a close combat class. But there is a problem with this that she is most proficient in magic. In other words, we are ruffly training her from scratch." I explain, coming to a stop next to them.

"So, she has no experience, and she chose a broadsword," Brenda said, looking at the small figure of Catrina.

"If you think about it and where she came from, it's a normal choice for her. When you see a swordsman with a sword, it will mostly be a great sword or a broadsword. Especially her being from an Earl house has seen knights that only uses a broadsword or a great sword if they are higher rank." I explain, forgetting my first comment on her sword when I arrived.

"That's true, but daggers and katanas also isn't that uncommon," Brenda informed.

"Is that so." That is all I said, seeing the test beginning with Catrina running at Chinada, who didn't move from her position.

"seems like she knows a bit about wielding it," Brenda said after Catrina has swung the sword a couple of times.

"that might be true, but she doesn't have the muscle or stamina to swing that thing around that long. the worst part she isn't using her magic to fight," I said, analyzing her moves. After the years of training with my Mother and hearing her demoralizing comments every few seconds of my style and movements, I had enough confidence that I could do it as well. Not to her extent, though.

"Aren't we testing her in what weapon she would do well?" Sirone asked, making me facepalm.

"That's true..." I mumbled before looking back at the test. After a couple of minutes, Catrina became sloppy in her moment, not that it was good, to begin with, and fell over her own feet. "Sigh, okay, that's enough for now. Come here, Catrina," I yelled, beckoning Catrina to come closer.

"Yes, Nova?" Catrina said, confusing some people.

"You can call me Kitsuna. That's my real name. Nova is just the one I use when I am outside in public and need to hide my identity. Now for your crappy performance. Why did you choose a broadsword?" I asked, not caring about my bluntness.

"I have seen a lot of our guards use this type of sword," Catrina said, looking down at the sword in her hands.

"Well, it doesn't fit you, so here try these." as I said that, I made an ice nodachi and a tachi in my hands.

"Why is the one so short?" Catrina commented, looking, and pointing at the ice Tachi.

"Because it's like a short sword. This one is just better and more preferably in my taste." I explain to bring the tachi into my right hand while the nodachi went to my left. Holding the katanas out towards her, I said. "Now take these like this and go fight Chinada again."

"Ugh, but I don't know how to wield one sword. How will having 2 better," Catrina said, looking at the 2 swords again.

"Hmm, are you saying I don't know what I am doing," I said, tilting my head with a smile?

"Nono, of course not," Catrina said, shaking her hands before taking the sword and running back to stand in front of Chinada.

"Oh yeah, try using your magic this time," I said in a loud enough voice so she could hear.

"Can she even infuse her mana into your ice swords?" Nekro asked, suddenly jumping onto my back.

"Oh hello, Nekro, I didn't know you were here," I said, looking back at the bunny loli hanging over my shoulder.

"Of course, you didn't," Nekro said with an annoyed voice.

"Well, to answer your questions, no, it's not possible to infuse my sword, but you can coat it with your mana," I explain as I always coat my swords as it was easier.

"What's the difference though," Nekro asked.

"Coating uses more mana, but it needs less mana control. While infusing, it uses less mana but needs more mana control. Also, infusing your mana makes the swords stronger, and if you use like fire mana or something, it will do more damage." Brenda explains, surprising Nekro at the difference.

'Yeah, I was also surprised when I found out that there is a difference. At the start of my training, I always thought I was infusing them, but apparently, I was just coating them. The process almost feels the same, but with infusing, you need to start with the end of the hand and then move up. Not just move up. That's where the mana control is imported. It was the same with Steve all those years ago. I wasn't infusing the swords. I was just coating the damn things, and it still destroyed them. The first time I found this out was meeting Kayda. That damn mother never thought her reinforcement skill helped her.' I thought in frustration.

"But why can't you infuse your mana into Kitsunas' ice swords," Nekro asked again.

"Because they are made of my ice magic. So, they are made out of mana, but then again, my ice magic is solid, almost like a metal. Maybe I can make it possible to infuse mana into them." I mumbled to myself before getting too far in thought. Deciding to think about it later, I shook my head before looking back at the match.

"She is doing better with these two, it seems," Sirone said, impressed.

"Yeah, but she is destroying our training grounds," Brenda said, making everyone look at her confused.

"Uhm, don't we destroy it like every day?" I said with a small chuckle.

"Yes, but she is doing it on her own why can't I join in," Brenda whɨnėd, dropping to her knees.

"I wonder if Catrina will actually fit in," I muttered, looking at Brenda's disappointed expression.
