"Wait! where do you think you're going. I order you to guard my carriage!" An annoying and oddly familiar voice shouted from behind us.
"Who the fuċk is this guy," Kayda said, turning around.
"Uhm, I think I have seen him before, but I can't quite put my finger on it," I said, looking at the clearly dressed noble who was stopping towards us.
"I am the first the son of Viscount Jaman, and I order you two to guard my carriage." The guy said, still stopping around towards us.
"AAH, now I remember this guy is the one that tried talking the princess up before Hugos' duel," I said, remembering how I knocked him out.
"He did that and is still alive?" Kayda said, looking at me perplexed.
"Yeah, I think he got a warning, though," I said, seeing him stop in front of us.
"Hey, stop ignoring me! Wait, it's you!" He shouted, pointing at me.
"Should I knock you out again?" I asked, tilting my head at him.
"No, no." the viscount son stutters, defensively flaring his hands.
"Good, then we will be going. Thank you for wasting our time," I said, turning around again towards Armillian.
"Wait up, ladies! Would you please hear me out?" Before I could take a step, another male voice interrupted us.
"Tch, Kayda, you sort this one out," I said with annoyance.
"Why? Isn't this your trip?" Kayda said with a raised eyebrow.
"Yeah, but this guy is someone I can't talk to casually," I said, pointing to the back of me where a person with white robes that clearly showed they were important was busy walking up to us.
"Oh, I see," Kayda said, tapping my shoulder.
"Good afternoon, Kayda the Sage. It is an honor to meet you. I am Archbishop Warlurd." The captain said, bowing in respect.
"Why would an Archbishop be on his way to Armillian?" Kayda asked with a raised eyebrow.
"There have been some unsettling reports coming from the south the last couple of weeks, and I decided to investigate it in person," Warlurd explains, not giving too much information but enough for us to understand there is something major going on in the demon territory.
"I see, then what does Archbishop want?" Kayda said, giving me a discreet nod.
"I would sincerely ask if Kayda and her companion help us guard the carriages until we are in Amillian. after the fight we had against the Crimson Bandits, we are severally weakened and might not make it if they decided to attack again." The captain said with another deep bow.
"Hmm, I don't know. what do you think?" Kayda said, looking at me.
"Will we get paid?" I suddenly asked, surprising everyone.
"Oi, not everything is about money," Kayda said in a deadpan look.
"We will need money if we are going to move around the kingdom," I said, not taking my eyes off the shock Warlurd.
"Ha-ha, of course, we will pay you. To think the disciple of Kayda the sage will care so much about money." Warlurd said with a laugh.
"I am not her disciple. That's my sister. never mind that, how much will you pay?" I said, ignoring Kayda, who grabbed my arm.
"How about 20 gold coins each," Warlurd said with a smile.
"30."
"25."
"35."
"Fine, 28."
"40."
"Okay, okay, we will do your 30."
"50," I said, making him go pale.
"Stop, we can't pay that much."
"Huh? but you want Kayda the sage to guard you. Do you really think she would be cheap?" I said, making it seems as if Kayda was on display with zero shame.
"Sigh, I should have known. We will do 50 gold each then." Warlurd said, not giving me time to talk again. He turned around and walked away.
"We will be on the viscounts' carriage if you need us," I said, looking at the pale viscount son. "That is fine with you, right?"
"Yes, no problem," Mister Jaman stuttered out before walking away.
"Nova, did you just sell my name?" Kayda asked with a heavy voice.
"Yeah, 100 gold coins will come in handy," I said with a giant smile on my face.
"Do you know how much it really costs for an escort from the capital to the City of Armillian?"
"Nope, and don't care," I said, trying to walk away only to feel my shoulder being grabbed in an iron grip.
"1 gold coin. 1 not 20 but 1 and how much are they going to pay us now, 50. 500% more than they should." Kayda said, pulling me down before getting closer to my face.
"What really? No wonder you're so poor you don't know how to sell your own name." I said, feeling the grip on my shoulder getting even tighter.
"That's the worst part. you made it sound like I am selling my own name to get more money."
"But that was the point. I used your name to get us more money," I said with no shame showing in my expression.
"That's not up to you to sell my name like that!" Kayda yelled before letting me go and walking away.
"It's not? but I thought you said this is my trip?" I said, giving Kayda a deadpan look. Suddenly feeling a impact on my head everything went dark.
(Unknown time later)
'ugh, what happened? oh, yeah, Kayda knocked me out.' I thought, feeling my mind clearing. Groaning a bit, I felt that my head was resting on something unbelievably soft and comfortable.
'Is this what I think? Please be the cute Sister from before.' I thought, opening my eyes slowly.
"Aah, you're finally awake," Kayda said, seeing me open my eyes.
'I guess this is better than the sisters would have been. Hehe, let's have some fun with her.' So, I thought, looking up at Kayda, holding my poker face.
"Oh, so I was getting a ŀȧp pillow from you," I said before turning my head to the side and closing my eyes adding. "Hmm, don't mind if I do. I am going to sleep for a bit more."
"Is that so," Kayda said, bringing her fingers through my hair.
'Is she really going to let me?' I thought, getting more relaxed.
"Like hell, I will allow that," Kayda said, pinching my ear, making me yelp in pain, and pull my head away from her ŀȧp.
"Why do you have to be so mean," I said, puffing my cheeks while rubbing my ears.
"Lady Kayda, that isn't very nice of you." A young female voice said before I felt someone using healing magic on my ears. Then, looking in the direction where the voice came from, I saw the cute sister that tried to help me when my throat was cut open sis on the other side of the carriage with no one next to her.
'She seems quite gullible. Let's see if I can make Kaydas' job better.' I thought, not dropping my pouting act.
"Yes, scold her sister. She is very mean to me," I said, grabbing the sister around the waist before pulling her closer, making her yelp in surprise.
Because my face was out of view for her at the moment, she didn't see me winking at Kayda and looking to the front where a small window was in the carriage.
"Tch, you stupid cunning fox. You will properly pay me back for this." Kayda said, getting my message before creating a wind barrier inside so no sound could be heard from outside.
"See, Kayda is so mean to me, sister," I whɨnėd, moving to the other side where the sister originally was sitting.
"It's okay. I will help you, and call me Mil," Mil said, petting my head.
'I might puke if I called her sister one more time, and what do you think you're doing petting my head like that.' I thought, holding back my glare. She might be cute, but she is still an angel believer who is dead to the world powers and orders.
"Thank you, Mil," I said, letting her go giving her a giant smile. Then, tilting my head, I asked in confusion. "But why would a cute girl like Mil be going to the south all of a sudden. I thought there were no churches in the south of the kingdom."
"Yes, that's true there wasn't, but the last 6 months with the Head of the Anabald house not making a lot of appearances, the church decided to start their expansion to the south."
"Oh, that's not a bad idea from you guys. With now fighting against you, you guys can easily expand your belief." I said, nodding a couple of times.
"Yes, that right, but for some reason, a new problem arose while we were expanding our belief," Mil explains, making me raise an eyebrow.
