When they reached their inn, Feng Tianlan pulled Luo Yunzhu to a stop as she glumly walked forward. “Yunzhu,” she said. “There are dangers associated with being Lady Phoenix.”

“I didn’t see any danger! All I saw was Tu Xiupei snatching away something of yours again then you deciding to suffer it in silence again,” Luo Yunzhu pouted angrily. She was furious, but she stopped, looked up at Feng Tianlan, and waited for her to explain everything.

“The Demonic Beasts did not start fighting because we picked the Spiritual Grass. Nor was it because of some natural disaster caused the ‘First Tide of Beasts.’ The whole thing was created by humans, and I told you so that day too.”

Luo Yunzhu blinked and answered, “I think you mentioned it.” It had been extremely dangerous that night, so she didn’t really remember much. But when she considered how the Ice Phoenix had attacked Tianlan and no one else, that explanation really covered everything.

“If a human can create unrest among Demonic Beasts, then, tell me, what level do you have to reach to make thousands of beasts listen to your command?”

When she heard this, Luo Yunzhu hung her head in shame. “I can’t guess.” The strongest person she knew was her own father.

Feng Tianlan shook her head gently. “I don’t know. But he is just following instructions, so this sort of assassination attempt is going to keep happening.”
