130 Lessons in Law Part 3

Name:The Tiger Within Author:Valinteena
"Then they are not the law of the Forest. Call them what they are, Your law of the garden." Mally replied as though this wasn't the first time she had said as such. She also felt the prick of discomfort hearing the laws she grew up with butchard but there was so little she could do. At least… until now. Her studies of the law had never allowed her to correct him word for word because she didn't remember word for word. However her gut knew his words were wrong no matter that she didn't know what the law should truly be. Kyera was a different matter entirely.

"That's because they would hold no weight. The Laws of the Forest are upheld by the Keeper of Eternity and Rebirth. The laws of this garden would never hold any weight because if they did not fall within the Laws of the Forest no one would have to follow them." Kyera's voice quickly brought light to the truth and caused him to frown. She was right. Zala growled stepping forward to stand directly in front of the tiger, her eyes daring her to speak again. Kyera waited patiently for a moment before raising an eye stripe.

"The Law of the Forest is as the King says. No other may contradict him." Zala growled her fur on end as she prepared to defend her position with her life. Kyera, in a way respected her for how she stood against her. Standing up for what you believe in is a good quality and rare to date. However, there was a fine line between loyal and following blindly. She had a strong suspicion Zala was the latter not the former.

"That is unwise, Zala. The Law of the Forest was decided by the King of Shadows and Queen of Dreams. We do not change it, we as rulers only pass it on and uphold it." Kyera corrected her gently at first, careful to keep her tone level. If there was a way to save them from their delusions, she would prefer that. Any soul walking the earth after their death was a tragedy.

The evil and the good passed to the Shadow Realm for Judgement. The evil would be punished and destroyed if their hearts were truly black. The good would be reborn or choose to stay as servants of the Shadow realm if they decided not to return. Those who had served multiple good lives would be allowed to stay in the shadow woods or be reborn as shapeshifters. The missguided however… wandered the world aimlessly, lost to the sands of time. In death just as lost as they lived.

Zala snapped her teeth at Kyera in warning, her growl ripped from her throat and shuddered through Kyera's bones. The Lioness was slender, and much smaller than Kyera, but the tigress did not underestimate the endurance and strengths of such a tiny body. This was not enough her to stand Kyera down, but also did not make her too hasty to react. She wasn't afraid of Zala but would prefer not to fight the pride as a whole.

Zala stepped back unwillingly, but obeyed her Pride Leader. Kyera nodded a silent thank you, glad she didn't have to send another soul to serve penance at the Shadow King's feet. The lion nodded back and looked at his pride, then back at Kyera.

"Do not forget the Loyalty Ceremony is in three days. I will bow to the future emperor and so shall you." He said calmly, there was a edge of Ice to his words and Kyera chuckled.
