Indeed no one was late to that night's dinner, in fact they all seemed to Follow Kyera's lead and arrived early. Raina, Clovis and Eve wore matching gowns in a brilliant blue color. It made the three stand out against the greens, blacks, browns, and purples of the Shadow Veil hall.
Kyera however, had no clothing in blue. Afterall she had never answered to her Emperor as his daughter in law. There was hardly a chance to have anything made. So instead Kyera wore the coolest Purple she had, in pretty deep color made of true fabric. The shadows danced around her feet no longer having to clad her body. Their motions made the beautiful but simple dress seem to dance around her legs, it ending just a few inches from the floor.
The only problem was, the hostess was late. Vella had yet to come down from her room. Mordrin and Mordakai fussed about whether or not he should go up and check on her. Mordakai warned Mordrin not to, or she might feel rushed. Kyera however felt something different in the air. It was a familiar tingle that someone needed help.
Without checking with anyone else, she made her way up the stairs and to the little hallway that led to Mordrin's room. The sound of panting filled Kyera's ears as well as the scent of blood filled her nose.
She swung the door open with a decent bit of force to find a grisly site. Vella laid in the floor whimpering, her gown covered in blood. Kyera sighed moving to her and kneeling. "Looks like someone tried to power through the contractions like they were not hurting." Kyera chided gently. Vella looked up at her worry in her eyes.
"The baby… is is everything okay?" she asked teary eyed. Kyera laid her ear to her stomach and listened. The tiny second heartbeat was strong.
"Yes, but the wee baby is coming whether you want it to or not. Lets get you up on the bed." Kyera ordered but when Vella tried to stand, she found herself swept up in female arms much stronger than she imagined them to be.
"Thank you." Vella whispered honestly feeling a bit shamed. Afterall this woman was a noble… how could she appear so pitiful infront of her?
"Of course, Princess. Lets get this baby here safely." Kyera waved off the praise and set about putting her in position. Once she was set, Kyera just smiled. "Maids send for the Emperor and the Prince… we have a baby coming." Kyera shouted down the hall before returning to Vella "Hot water and blankets to the Lady's chamber!" she added while rolling up the sleeves of her gown.
"Have… have you ever…" Vella struggled with the question. She had no idea how to express her concern.
"I have helped birth plenty of little beauties. Do not worry about that." Kyera assured her with a tender smile. With that the task began.
"It is a boy." Kyera declared with a wide grin. She used the water to rinse the crying child and wrapped him in a blanket. Vella reached for him and Kyera placed the child in her arms.
Vella cuddled the child while Mordrin cuddled her. Their family had begun. Mordakai put his arm around Kyera's waist and hugged her. "You did well, little Shaman."
"I told you when I was little I would give birth to your grandchildren. I have held my promise" Kyera teased causing the room to chuckle.
"You sure have, Princess. You sure have." Mordakai agreed as Clovis wrapped his arms around his wife, watching his friend and his sister hold his nephew. His eyes cast down at Kyera, thoughts on his mind jealous and hopeful at the same time.
