Three hours passed in a bit of a blur for Clovis who was suddenly reconsidering his life choices. Specifically in not asking what they would be riding. This question did not occur to the fourth Prince till he stood on a peak, just south of the city gates. It hadn't seemed too important until he reached the crest and looked down into the valley below.
It was a steep drop into a white and gray blend of snow and rocks. At first glance it was pillowy and looked like a soft and comfortable landing. However, that was deceitful as the silvery grey rock peaked out from little patches in the snow, showing off their sharp teeth at random intervals. There was a river, he could see the flow from the perch, whitecapping waves hinting at rushing water… then again was it snow drifting in the water? He couldn't really be sure from this height.
Myla stepped forward, to the edge of the rock and placed a whistle to her lips and blew. He marveled and tried to work out his survival rate if he fell, as a large green creature swooped past him rolling into its belly and flashing opalescent color over the group. He tried to follow it as it seemed to spin through the air. A reptilian body, covered in scales except for its feathered wings. Another ruby red in color seemed to follow the green spinning and darting through the air.
"Dragons?" Clovis asked, more clarifying what he was seeing than anything. He had heard the legends, and seen the battle images of the old wars, but he never dreamed he would see this. Kyera smiled and nodded.
"Let me introduce you to two of my dearest guardians…. The Storm Twins." she spoke with a smile before taking her Zither down from her hair and strumming the miniature instrument once, the sound amplified in the snow. She couldn't help but smile as the sound of wing beats caught her ears. Strong rhythmic sounds like thunders gentle roar. Kyera took several steps back away from the edge and the group, watching the sky.
Two streaks of color sped toward them, swirling around each other as if it was a form of Yin and Yang. One pale and pure as the perfect clouds of a extraordinary warm summer day. The other like storm clouds deep grey against the sky. Kyera couldn't help but laugh as the two large dragons hit the snow on all fours. Their wings splayed, blocking the sun. The white lowered its head first looking at Kyera with bright blue eyes. It was like looking at a pool of rain drops, refreshing and calm. The grey held his head high, but there was excitement in his black eyes.
"Kyera, Storm Rider, welcome home." the grey bellowed as Kyera reached out and caressed the white's nose. She turned smiling to the grey placing a hand on his chest.
"I see, Congratulations, My lady. Is there finally a man to join us for our hunts?" the white asked seriously, there was a hint of excitement in her voice.
