597 The Heir Challengers Part 2

Name:The Tiger Within Author:Valinteena
There was only a split second before the pair began to fight. The sound of swords clashing and two extreme aggressive styles went head to head. Then, there was a subtle change, the soldier called Von became less aggressive and more teasing and controlled. Each swift and yet almost lazy swish of his blade deflected Keen's attack. The two boys were well matched but it was clear the soldier was changing tactics randomly to try and up Keen's game. It wasn't happening, the hard fast barrage of attacks from Keen's blade didn't change.

That wasn't to say Keen wasn't skilled, his attacks were fast and utilized all of his small mass to make the blades spark off one another with the force behind each blow. finally, Von's blade was knocked from his hand. Keen didn't notice at first and swung again, only for Von to leap over the sword in a rolling front flip and do two full revolutions before standing.

"I Yield." Von called and Keen stopped, he lowered his sword breathing rather even, not overly stressed from the fight. "Well done, Prince." Von bowed in respect.

"As to be expected. You should train harder to be as good as me." Keen told the boy almost disdainfully before taking his place back by his mother. Melania and Kyera exchanged annoyed glances.

"Reece, Prince Nathaniel, Forward." The Weapon's Master called his jaw tight as though he had been grinding his teeth.

The boy in black and blue armor approached, a wooden quarterstaff in his hands. Nathaniel centered himself with his own staff and the pair began. This was a less violent appearing battle. If it was not for the loud crack sounds when the wood smacked against the other staff, and the grunts and sounds of exertion, it would have seemed like a dance. Spinning, twirling, and swinging the long sticks like an elegant battle. Then in a split second, Nathaniel met a downward swing with an upward and hooked one foot around Reece's ankle and  jerked it out from under him.

"Do you Yield?" Nathaniel asked, the tip of his staff hovering at the other boy's throat.

"I Yield." The soldier agreed and Nathaniel reached down, offering him a hand up.

"Thank you for the fierce battle. You are skilled." Nathaniel complimented before returning to his mother's side.

Each time Leo changed his tactic, Daniel followed suit. It was like  two warring winds, a powerful dance giving way as much as taking advancement. Both boys began to tire before either hand won. Locked blade to blade the pair met eyes, breathing heavily and rather exhausted.

"Yield…" Leo began but Daniel shook his head as they both lower their swords.

"We yield together, it was a draw. I couldn't  have bested him because I couldn't take another swing." Daniel explained nodding at Leo. "We must meet again and soon."

"I look forward to it, young Prince." Leo agreed as they vacated the center ring.

"Princess Raina, what is your weapon of choice?" The Weapon's Master asked honestly not sure. Raina raised her sword.

"Sword, Teacher." Raina replied and he nodded.

"Castiel, use your sword. This is my son, he is a master of many weapons, I asked him here since we were not sure what weapon to match you with." The Weapon's Master explained as the boy in simple leather stepped forward l, there was a smile on his lips, and he didn't wear a helmet.

"A pleasure my lady. Please forgive me, but I must not go easy on you." Castiel told her with a slight apologetic smile. She blinded him with a beauty all her own.
