"Why aren't you home?" Jamal asked again, still looking straight into her eyes, waiting for the excuse she'd cook up.
"What?, Why are you in my boss's seat?" she retorted.
"Wait... Are you okay or is something wrong with the baby?" he asked changing the subject moving away from the desk and going towards her. He bent down and held her belly wanting to feel it.
"Don't change the topic, why didn't you say anything about being the boss, are you a lie?" She asked
"No I'm not a lie and besides you didn't ask, I just didn't say anything. Was I supposed to write I'm a CEO on my head? And..." he
began to reply when she cut him off by telling.
"Wait. What? You're the CEO?"
"Well yes, I guess I am, shouldn't you know that already though? I mean my name is Jamal and I'm one of the most eligible bachelor at least I was" he replied leaning on his table and casually picking up a pen and playing with it.
"Well I don't know or should I say I didn't know at least not till a couple of minutes ago, and am I supposed to know who you are. Was? What do you mean by 'was', are you getting married?" She asked
"Don't you read magazines or watch TV? He asked
"Not really, only when Belle forces me to watch her shows with her" she replied
"Wait are you married, oh my God, I slept with a married man and now I'm carrying his baby, oh my God I'm a home wrecker..." she rambled on, grabbing her hand and looking around worried, then Jamal burst into laughter, she looked at him, thinking this man is very weird, is he used to this, is she not the first, maybe he's been doing this before her.
"Calm down Ave, I'm not married and trust me you're carrying my first child" he assured, still laughing.
Wow Jamal thought. He was thinking about how this woman of all people is carrying his child while on the other hand, he didn't expect the news and he thought the steps would be reversed, find someone he loves first, marriage, then babies.
Jamal was happy to hear the news regardless of the situation at hand, he couldn't say he loved Avery but what he felt for her was something different. He wasn't the kind of guy who had time or who felt anything when it came to women. He had them only for his p.l.e.a.s.u.r.e, he never saw them as anything else and he never saw the same woman twice.
But when he saw her at the club she was like a prey who looked so innocent and out of place but she looked so beautiful
attracting a lot of stares from both male and female,it was like she didn't even notice. He saw her typing on her laptop while talking with someone who he assumed was her friend. He told the bartender to send a drink her way, when he saw her friend leave he saw it as a cue for him to go over.
He had a great time with her all in all, he thought she was a dream when he didn't see any signs or traces of her being there the next morning. By a strange happenstance he saw her again and this time he knew she wasn't a fragment of his imagination. She was real but then she fainted, at first he thought it was because she saw him but turns out that she didn't even know him or know that he was there.
" You're one weird woman Avery" he retorted, he moved closer to her, their lips only a few inches away from each other, the air was so thin, a pair of scissors would have easily cut it, he was about to say something else when the door was opened and in walked a very beautiful lady who had model like features.
" What are you doing with my man" she asked annoyed. That was when they both realized how close together they were.
