17 Poisoned

" Yo! This is crazy! Which brother would want to poison their own sibling!" Li You whispered to Xiao Li, " That Qiang He must really hate his brother!"

Shrugging mindlessly, Li You continued to focus on the scene playing out below him. What a dysfunctional family, he thought.

Yawning at how boring this banquet was, Li You indicted to Xiao Li that they should head back.

Eyes focused on Qiang Li, Xiao Li explained the whole thing to Li You. She leaned forward, curious about how the poisons would affect him. Soon, she observed the swift movement of the maid next to him. Furrowing her eyebrows, she paid close attention to the little pill Qiang Li promptly ingested.

Finally intrigued, Li You looked towards Qiang Li, holding his breath, waiting to see if he would die. Qiang Li gently breathed. Clicking his tongue, Li You relaxed once again.

As the celebration came to an end, Xiao Li yawned. It was time to go. The guards of the family would patrol the area soon. Li You smiled lazily, getting up slowly to stretch. Noticing Li You's relaxed behaviour, Xiao Li huffed. Getting out of this place was going to be hard, every second was valuable. Ignoring Li You, she jumped to the nearest building.

" Ahhh!"

Almost slipping and falling off the roof, Xiao Li quickly regained her balance. She pressed onto her legs. They both were numb! Even worse, she had accidentally scratched her leg on one of the roof tiles.

" You need to stretch first, or else this kind of thing will happen. After sitting for so long, your legs will go numb, " Li You smirked.

Li You easily jumped onto the building Xiao Li was on. He made her sit down while he examined her wound. His usually gentle face scrunched up.

" Can you walk?"

Xiao Li bit her bottom lip as she tried to move her wounded leg. Pain shot up her leg. Shaking her head to Li You, she tried ignoring the tears that threatened to fall.

Li You shook his head, " Aren't you supposed to protect your little miss. You can't even handle such pain, how are you going to defend her?"

Raising her head to make herself seem confident, Xiao Li feebly replied, " I can get stronger."
