Back in the land of the living.
Corbin arrived at the family home.
He was informed by the servant that her mother already performed the ritual.
"Where is my brother Nathan?" Corbin asked.
"He's frequently staying in the ritual room, my lord," the servant replied.
"Okay. I'm thirsty, give me something to drink and bring it to my room upstair," Corbin said.
"Aye, my lord! What do you want to drink? Human blood or water?" the servant asked.
"Anything, just not blood," Corbin said and went upstairs to the second floor.
In his room.
He removed his black cape and hat and put them on the table. He discarded his clothes and went to the bathroom.
A few minutes later, he exited the bathroom and went to the window. Looking at the view of the garden below, thinking about his wife Rebecca while staring at the blooming flowers.
There was a knock on the door. "My lord, the drink is here!" the servant said.
Corbin opened the door, took the tray, and put it on the table.
"Anything else, my lord?" the servant asked.
Corbin shook his head. "You may go now," he said.
The servant closed the door and left.
Corbin poured the liquid into the glass, swallowed it, and went back to the window. "Where are you now, Rebecca? Why are you making things difficult for me? How are you doing? How's our twins inside your tummy? Let me see you, please! Come back to me!" he said, his heart was bleeding inside.
He went to bed and lie down. He shut his eyes to rest his weary mind and heart.
Meanwhile...
In the ritual room.
Nathan was staring at his mother's face.
It's been 24 hours already and his mother has not returned from the land of the dead yet. It looks like his mother's journey to the otherworld isn't smooth sailing.
Two more days to go, if his mother can't still return to her body, he will instruct the men to put her mother's body in the coffin to preserve her body until she returned.
He went to the bed where his grandfather's body has been lying unconscious for some time now.
For the guy to awaken, his mother must succeed with her endeavor. But if it takes a long time for his mother to come back, then he will take matters into his own hands.
He scanned the ritual room, everything is in order. No need to stay longer inside the room, he will take his leave and visit the old man.
He walked towards the door and opened it, he saw his older brother standing in the doorway. "Brother! It's nice to see you again!" he said in a cheerful voice.
"How are you, bro?" Corbin asked and stepped inside the ritual room.
"I'm fine..." Nathan replied.
"How's Mother?" Corbin asked and went to the bed. He stared at her mother's body covered with white clothing.
"It's been 24 hours already and she hasn't return yet," Nathan said.
Corbin's brows knitted together. "Before she left, did she tell you anything?" he asked.
"Yes. She told me that it might take her a few days before she can return. If she can't return home after a few days, then I will put her body in the special coffin made for this occasion in order to preserved her body. The coffin was already waiting in the next room based on her instruction," Nathan explained.
"Ah, I see. So, everything is okay here? Do you need my assistance or anything? I can stay here for a few days, and only continues earching for my wife after mother's return," Corbin offered.
"I'm okay here, brother. But if you wish to stay for a few days with me while mother is away, then it's completely fine with me," Nathan said.
"Alright, I will stay here for a couple of days," Corbin stated. "Are you going out?" he asked.
Nathan nods his head and said, "Yeah... I'm going to my room. I'll come back later."
"Okay, I'll stay here for a while," Corbin spoke.
"See you later, bro," Nathan said and left the room.
Corbin stayed in the room and watched the two unconscious bodies lying on the bed. He sat on the chair and stayed beside his mother's bed, his way of spending time with her. "Come back soon, Mother!" he whispered in her ear.
Then he looked at the other body lying on the next bed. The mysterious guy is still unconscious until now, surprisingly his body didn't rot. It looks like this guy is not an ordinary person.
He hoped his mother can return home safely.
He and his father can't travel to the world of the dead, only his mother can do so. If she encounters a mishap in the netherworld, nobody can help her, only herself.
Corbin stayed in the ritual room for half an hour, then left afterward, going back to his room to dream about his missing wife and his twins.
Meanwhile...
Nathan was inside Terros's room, having a conversation with him.
"My lord, how it's going?" Terros asked.
"Are you asking about the ritual?" Nathan said.
"Yes, my lord," Terros replied.
"It's going well, but it will take several day before positive result can be achieved," Nathan stated.
"What if something bad happened to your mother, my lord? What are you going to do next? What will happen to me and my old master? Are you going to finish my master for good?" Terros bombarded him with questions. It's better to voice out his concern in advance so that he can be mentally prepared for it.
Nathan's brows knitted together and asked, "What makes you think something bad can happen to my mother's journey to the netherworld?"
Terros sighed. "Don't get me wrong, my lord. We both know that the netherworld is not a safe place for someone like your mother. She might encounter difficulties there, and if she can't protect herself well, she might not be able to return to the land of the living. I'm just giving you a different scenario to ponder about," he explained.
"Actually, I'm also thinking of the same thing. But then, I can't decide all by myself because I still have my brother and my father who will decide for everything. But if there's one thing I can assure you, it's no other than your safety, because sooner or later, you will become my personal butler," Nathan said.
Terros asked the most important question, "How about my old master, my lord? What's going to happen to him if your mother can no longer return?"
Nathan pondered the question for a few minutes. Then he spoke, "Maybe, we have to let him go... like bury him or just let him stay in his room until his body rot and then dispose it or just wait until he finally awakens. That's the only choices I can think of right now. But that's not really final, because my brother and father might have a better idea on what to do with your old master's body," he said.
Terros released a deep sigh. "Is it possible to just return my master to his family?" he asked.
"But you won't even reveal your old master's home, because you are protecting his family. So, how can we return him to his family? The only way we can return him is for you and me to go there together and deliver his body to his family's doorsteps," Nathan said.
Terros took a deep breath. Lord Nathan is right. Since his power was suppressed, he can only depend on them to transport Graven's body to his manor, but by doing so, he already exposed Laura's whereabouts to the enemy. He was getting depressed because the solution to his problem may also pose a danger to Laura.
Nathan has been observing the old man's face and saw the myriad of emotions flashing in his eyes. "Even if we will release your old master's body and return him to his home, you won't still lead us to his home right?"
Terros nodded his head in confirmation and replied, "Yes, my lord."
Nathan smiled. "Right now, my curiosity shoot to the roof. What are you protecting in that manor, old man?"
Terros heaved a sigh. "Nothing, my lord," he answered.
"Alright, I'm done talking to you. I'll go to my room and rest for a while," Nathan said and rose to his feet.
Sighing, Terror watched the young lord leave the room.
...
Back at the netherworld.
In Mehos's secret room. He was floating in cloud 9. He was having a good time with Sylvia's body in the bed. He can kiss and cuddle with her anytime he wants.
Meanwhile...
In Sylvia's mind, she was seething with anger. She desperately wanted to move her body and escape this room, but she can't! She's getting frustrated and feeling hopeless as minutes passed by.
She needs to find a way to break from her confinement because the moment Mehos succeeded in bringing her to the lake, and erased her memory, she will forget about her family and she can no longer return to the land of the living. The thoughts terrify here. She doesn't want to stay in this barren and desolate place. She wants to go back to the land of the living where everything is beautiful and she's a powerful being!
"Darling, don't be sad. You might leave everything behind in the land of the living but I'm going to give you a precious gift that will accompany you here so that you wont' be so sad anymore, and you know what is it?" Mehos said.
'What?' Sylvia said in her mind.
"I'm going to give you back the soul of your beloved youngest son, Nathan!" Mehos said.
Sylvia was confused. 'A-are you going to kill my son, Nathan?' she asked.
"No. Because he's already dead long time ago! I kept his souls hidden for a long time," Mehos said.
'But his soul is already back in his body!' Sylvia insisted.
"No, my dear! I can assure you 100% that I got your son's soul. The soul that inhibits your son's body right now is an impostor! He's not really the soul of your youngest son!" Mehos declared with absolute certainty.
'You're lying!' Sylvia said. If Mehos was telling the truth then who is the soul inhibiting her son's body right now? She felt shocked and horrified at the possibility that an impostor's soul have successfully taken over his son's body and deceived her!
"I'm telling you the truth! There's no reason for me to lie!" Mehos insisted.
