The next day.
Laura woke up early. After getting her business done inside the bathroom, she left the room and went outside.
Walking in the hallway, she noticed that the house has the same design as Sir Nicholas's mansion. But this one is on a smaller scale compared to Cooper's house.
She reached the top of the stairs and looked down below, the living room is empty.
Where are they - Rebecca and Graven?
They might still be tucked comfortably in their room, still sleeping right now.
What's she's going to do? Go back to her room or explore the house outside, but there's nothing much to explore outside because it's a vast space out there. What she wanted right now is to talk to Rebecca and get all the information about Luke. The woman was a bit talkative last night, she hopes her easy-going attitude is still the same today.
She can't reconcile herself with the death of Luke. Which is kind of absurd! She was sure she was making love with a real man - with a real body, not with a ghost!
After Rebecca's revelation, she can finally confirm to herself that Graven's twin brother is the one that she had a short intimate relationship and not Graven!
She released a deep sigh. Now that many of her questions have been answered, she's still seeking more! She has to know more about Luke. He's an enigma to her, like a mystery that she wants to uncover. She got that feeling that Luke is not dead yet, that he was just hiding somewhere! Both Graven and Rebecca are telling her absurd things, making everything blurry, she cannot accept it! They are trying to divert her attention or trying to put a dead-end of Luke's memory in her mind.
That's why, she needs to force them to bring her to Luke's grave, after seeing his grave, her gut feel will tell her if their claim is indeed true or not.
Right now...
She was about to leave, but she heard footsteps in the hallway coming her way.
When she turned around to check who it was... it was just Graven. Her heart skips a beat after glancing at his devilishly handsome feature. His good looks never fail to increase the beating of her heart each time.
"Good morning!" she greeted him, smiling a little.
"Good morning to you, sister-in-law!" he returned her greetings. "Do you want to drink some coffee or tea? Follow me into the dining room. I'll have the servant prepare some hot drinks for us," he said in a gentle tone.
Laura smiled and nodded her head. "Okay," she replied.
Graven stepped into the stairs going down. Laura was following him from behind.
"Is Rebecca not awaken yet?" she asked.
"Yeah, she's still sleeping in her room," he answered.
They resumed walking on the stairs heading down. They finally reached the ground floor and Graven lead the way... going to the dining room.
They entered the dining room and sat at the chairs facing each other.
There were jars of powdered coffee, tea, milk powder, and sugar on the table along with the hot water silver jug, cups, and spoons.
"Shall I call for the servant for assistance to make your tea?" Graven asked while he made his hot drink.
"No need! I can make my own," Laura responded.
After Graven made his hot drink, Laura put a spoonful of milk, coffee, and sugar in the cup and poured hot water to the brim.
They stirred their hot drinks.
A maid entered the dining room and place pastries and plates in the center of the table, then exited the room quietly.
Graven and Laura began sipping their hot drinks and devoured some of the sweet pastry.
Laura inspected the pastry in her hand. "Hmm, this is sweet!" she beamed.
Graven smiled. "I'm glad you like it!" he said.
After a while, when Laura was done with her drink, she wanted to ask Graven a lot of questions about his twin. "Can I ask you a question about your twin brother?" she asked permission first.
Graven sighed and looked at her straight in the eyes. "You can ask me anything about everything... just don't ask me about my twin brother because he's already dead. There's nothing to discuss anymore when it comes to him," he concluded.
"But he can't be dead! We just make love a few times when we're together last month! How can he be dead?" she asked in bafflement.
"No, the things you mentioned right now is not real. You are just imagining them! So you better forget my brother from now on and never think of him ever again! Don't mention his name ever again. Focus on your future husband, Cooper!" Graven reprimanded her.
Laura bit her lip. Graven is not in the mood to talk about his twin and forbid her of mentioning his name ever again. But why? What's the reason behind it? Did something wrong happen between the two brothers in the past?
Graven rose to his feet. "Get ready for our departure, we will leave this place. We're going back to the mansion after breakfast," he informed her and left the room swiftly.
Laura was left alone in the dining room, feeling confused more than ever. There's something mysterious going on with the brothers. The more that Rebecca and Graven insisted that Luke is already dead, the more her heart won't believe it.
If Luke is indeed dead then why can't they bring her to his grave? She was just asking a simple request! She's not asking for an impossible thing! Graven's refusal to bring her to Luke's grave left her fuming mad. But she can't get truly mad at them...they have been kind to her. Maybe they have their reasons why Luke's name is forbidden for her to mention?
She was sure 100% that she was making love to a real Luke - not his ghost!
She wants to know the reason why and how Luke died? But she can no longer ask Graven, his mouth is tight-lipped about his twin brother.
But there is another person who might be able to provide all the information that she needed and that is no other than Rebecca!
She rose to her feet about to leave the dining room, she plans to wait outside the woman's door so that she can talk to her.
She doesn't have to find the other woman because Rebecca entered the dining room.
"Good morning, Laura!" Rebecca's cheerful voice rang in the air. She sat on the chair across from Laura and began putting milk and sugar in the cup and poured hot water on it. Her hot drink is ready. She picked up one pastry and brought it to her mouth.
"Good morning, Rebecca!" Laura replied with a smile. "How's your sleep?" she asked trying to establish a pleasant conversation with her.
"Good, how about you?" Rebecca returned the question to her.
Laura sighed. "It took me a long time before I fall asleep last night," she answered her question honestly.
Rebecca raised a brow. "But why-?"
"Because of what you had told me that Luke is already dead. I felt sad and heartbroken. Only after seeing his grave with my two eyes, I can put my mind in peace," she said, projecting a forlorn expression on her face.
"Ohh..." Rebecca said, sipping her milk. She stared at Laura's face for a long time, contemplating how to answer her. "Do you want me to bring you to his grave?" she finally offered.
Laura's eyes brightened up in absolute delight. "Yessssss, please!" she replied excitedly.
