"I want to come with you and Laura! I want to see my friend Luke!" demanded Rebecca.
"Nope, no, you can't... it will be just me and Laura," Graven said.
Rebecca pouted like a petulant child. "But I wanted to! Why can't I go with you two?" she asked, her face showed displeasure.
"Three is a crowd," Graven told her.
"Fine...if you don't want me to go with you and Laura, then I'll go there by myself!" Rebecca declared.
Graven sighed. "Okay fine, the three of us will go!" he relented.
Rebecca jumped with joy. "Oh, yeah! When are we going to the cave! Today?" she asked excitedly.
"No, tomorrow. I will inform my father that I will bring you and Laura to a picnic in one of my properties outside the town for one day. We will return here the next day," Graven replied.
Rebecca smiled. "Awesome! I'll go back to the house to inform Laura about the trip tomorrow, so we can pack our things for the trip," she said.
"Don't bring too many clothes. We will teleport in going to the cave. We are not going to travel on the carriage or a horse," Graven informed her.
"Okay, we will just bring a few personal things and clothes," Rebecca responded. "I'll take my leave now," she said and sauntered towards the door.
Graven watched Rebecca exited the door. He went inside his room.
~
Outside.
Rebecca walked on the path leading towards the house. She looked heavenward and waved at Laura, she was watching in the window of her room.
She resumed walking until she reached the entrance of the house and went inside. She climbed the stairs and reached the top in no time. She went to Laura's room directly.
Laura was already waiting at the open door.
Rebecca smiled brightly. "Graven will arrange a picnic for the three of us tomorrow. We're going to stay in one of his properties situated outside the town. Then from there, we will go to the cave to see Luke's coffin," she informed her.
"Nice! Let's do it so that I can finally have peace of mind," Laura said.
Rebecca walked towards the window then looked at Laura. "I just want to tell you not to get shocked by what you are going to see inside the coffin," she said.
"Why?"
"Because it's not like anything you have seen in your life before," Rebecca answered.
"Okay, I'll bear that in mind," Laura responded, looking a bit bothered by what's she's going to see in the cave.
"I'll tell you in advance, that... what you're going to see inside the coffin will shock and may upset you. I just hope that your feelings for Luke will stay the same even if you will see him in his worst condition," Rebecca said.
Laura lowered herself on the chair, she was silent for a moment. Then she looked at Rebecca and cleared her throat. "What if my feelings will change after seeing Luke's coffin? What are you guys going to do?"
Rebecca sighed. "Hmm, that's a possibility right?"
Laura nods her head. "Yeah..." She didn't try to deny the possibility.
"If that is the case then you can't still marry Cooper..." Rebecca said.
"But why?" Laura asked with a raised brow. She finds Rebecca's statement absurd.
"My dear...think about it... Luke will get angry if you're going to marry another guy. He was already obsessed with you, the more he will become possessive of you if his physical body will be restored. Do you think he won't do something bad to Cooper if you will marry him?" Rebecca reminded her.
Laura was astounded. She forgot that Luke is not an ordinary human.
"Luke will haunt you down even if you marry Cooper already. As long you will stay away from Cooper he will be safe. But if you continue with the wedding, his life will be in danger sooner or later. So you have to decide now whether you like it or not. Now that we already had a confirmation that Luke's body was regenerating inside the cave, rest assured that Luke will be resurrected anytime. The sooner you will leave this mansion, the better it will be for Sir Nicholas and Cooper's safety. Do you understand everything that I'm telling your right now, Laura?" Rebecca asked her.
Laura was stunned. Because her plan is different from that of Rebecca. She plans to continue the wedding with Cooper if she finds out that she no longer has feelings for Luke. But it looks like she can no longer do just that. "So, what I'm going to do?" she asked feeling a bit lost.
"Follow our plan. Besides, whether you like it or not, Luke will find you anywhere you will go or hide. So instead of hiding or fleeing away, why don't you wait until Luke's body will regenerate completely and he will be back in good health," Rebecca said.
"B-but I have no other place to go..." Laura protested.
"That is not a problem. You had forgotten that Graven and Luke are twin brothers. No matter what happens, Graven will support his beloved twin in everything that he does, and besides, he has several properties scattered everywhere, both in and outside the town. I will suggest to Graven to bring you to Bay Meadow, which is the place where you first meet Luke and fall in love with him. Do you like to return to the place where the sweet memories of your rendezvous with Luke will come back to life again?" asked Rebecca.
Laura sighed. Now that Rebecca told her that she has no option left then she might as well follow their plan. If staying in the mansion will bring death to Cooper or worst to Sir Nicholas who's been kind to her all this time then she has to go. What's the use of marrying Cooper when in the end he will only be killed by Luke? She was only dragging innocent people to slaughter.
She released a deep sigh. "Okay. I understood everything. I will wait for Luke and not let innocent people harm by him. I won't allow it as long I can help it," she said.
"Good! I know you finally come to your senses my dear," Rebecca was pleased with her answer.
Laura pondered for a moment. She wondered if Luke is the son of that vampire couple who comes to their mansion and hurt her father. Maybe not, because the twins were abandoned by their mother when they were young.
She looked at Rebecca. "I want to tell you something...a secret about my life," she said.
Rebecca went to her side and lowered herself on the chair facing her. "When it comes to a secret, you know that you can trust me. Come on, tell me everything," she persuaded her.
"Okay." Laura breathed deeply and cleared her throat and starts narrating her life story. "I died the moment I came out of my mother's womb. When my father was about to bury me in our backyard, the old woman neighbor came and told my father not to give up easily. She succeeded in convincing my parents to bring me to a couple who lives in a mountain, to try to see if there is anything they can do to bring me back to life. My father was hesitant, but my mother begged my father to try the last hope.
My mother can't accept that her firstborn is dead. So my father and the old woman went ahead and travel for two hours in the river, reaching a castle in the middle of nowhere.
A vampire couple is living in the castle with their servants. The vampire woman took me in her arms and bring me upstairs for a ritual to get my soul back to my body. Based on the agreed deal between them and my father that after I turn 20 years old, I will marry their son.
A few hours went by, my father who was staying in the living room downstairs together with the old woman, heard my first cry. My father was ecstatic and finally able to see his daughter breathing and crying in his arms for the first time.
The vampire couple give my father a pouch of gold and warned them not to flee the village, but after one year, my father broke the deal and we flee the village, leaving everything behind. My father has no intention to marry me with the vampire couple's son.
Twenty years later. The vampire couple finally found us living peacefully in Hallowpass. They threatened us, even kidnap my sister, I begged them to give me ten more days to be with my family before they took me away, they agreed with one condition that I won't flee again.
They returned my sister after ten days but they didn't bring me with them...so my father took the opportunity to bring me here to his friend Sir Nicholas to honor the arranged marriage between Cooper and me that they agreed upon the last time they met. My father thought that I should marry a human, not a vampire, that's why I'm here to flee from the vampires and to honor the arranged marriage between two families. That's my secret..." Laura concluded her long narration.
"Oh...my...you had such a mysterious and interesting life, my dear!" Rebecca was stunned by Laura's revelation. "Who is the son of that vampire couple? Did you see the son?"
Laura shook her head. "No. Because when they returned my sister, I was ready to accept my fate and go with them as long they won't harm my family. But something comes up, the vampires told me that there is a change of plan and my vampire husband will come personally to fetch me. My father took the opportunity to bring me here to marry Cooper, it so happened that there is a death in the family with the tradition and no one can get married within three months. So yeah...that's all there is to my story..." she said.
Rebecca pondered about the mystery of Laura's vampire husband. Who could it be? There is a possibility that the jilted vampire husband was already looking for Laura all over the place?
Hmm...this is interesting! She needs to tell Graven about this latest revelation! Asap!
She rose to her feet. "Laura, thank you so much for trusting me with your secret. I will take my leave. I need to go back to my room to take a bath," she said.
"Okay, go ahead," Laura said.
Rebecca left the room.
