They landed in the living room and saw Sylvia sitting on the couch reading a magazine.
The couple walked straight towards the door.
Sylvia moved in lightning speed and blocked their path just when they're about to reach the door.
Corbin groaned in dismay and looked at his mother. A frown appeared on his forehead. "Mother, why are you blocking our exit?" he asked.
Sylvia looked at Rebecca suspiciously. "Where are you going - guys?"
"We're just going outside to breath fresh air," he replied casually.
Sylvia smirked. "Really? Are you sure?" she asked, looking at Rebecca who avoided her gaze.
"Yes, Mother!" Corbin answered.
Sylvia looked at Rebecca. "Dear...can you wait on the couch for a few seconds? I have something to tell my son," she ordered.
Rebecca nodded her head. "Yes, Madam!" She walked towards the nearest couch and plopped down.
Sylvia grabbed her son into the corner away from Rebecca's earshot.
"Mother, what is it?" Corbin asked.
Sylvia took a deep breath. "I dunno if you and Rebecca are just pretending to be lovers or telling the truth. But I warn you, son, if she's not your lover, I already killed her yesterday. Besides, she needs to die since we have a rule here in the house that whoever enters this mansion without permission has to die. Your GF fits the criteria... but then she is your lover, she is forgiven for now. But if she's an enemy, she needs to die!" she said firmly.
"Mother..."
"If the two of you walked out of the door and you're the only one who returns here that means you and Rebecca were just pretending to be lovers to deceive me! She might be able to get away - but I guarantee you that as soon walked out of here... I already sent someone to track her and kill her on the spot! So... before you do something stupid... think twice...my son. Don't blame me because I already warned you. Seeing you two having sex in your room doesn't guarantee that you have a relationship. What I hate the most is being deceived! So be careful!" Sylvia warned her son.
Corbin sighed. "Rebecca is not going anywhere, mother. I can assure you that!" he said.
"Good!" Sylvia said. "Okay, go ahead, you may go now to the garden and breath fresh air."
"Thank you, Mother," Corbin said with a gloomy sigh.
Sylvia climbed the stairs going to the second floor of the house.
Corbin went to Rebecca's side and reached for her hand. "Let's go to the garden!" he said.
The couple walked towards the door and exited.
Corbin brought Rebecca to the garden located at the back of the mansion.
Rebecca noticed that Corbin was unusually quiet. "What's wrong? What did your mother tell you?" she asked curiously.
Corbin released a deep sigh. "She was suspicious of you. She thought that we're just pretending to be lovers. She warned me that if I returned to the house alone and you're gone that means we deceived them and she will be super mad. She also told me that the moment you're gone, she already send someone to track your whereabouts and kill you on the spot. We have this rule in the house that whoever enters the house without permission is our enemy and we kill that person without hesitation. You're supposed to be dead already since yesterday but they didn't kill you because they thought you are my lover..."
Rebecca breathed deeply. "Don't worry about me, they won't find me!" she assured him.
Corbin sighed. "Rebecca, don't be stupid! If you think you can hide from my mother forever you are wrong!"
Rebecca stared at the blooming flowers. "I have to go now, Corbin. I can't stay here any longer," she said.
"But you can't leave right now, it's dangerous for you!" he said trying to make her stay a little bit longer by his side so that he can be sure she's safe.
"So, what can you suggest to me?" she wants to hear his opinion for the last time.
"Stay with me for at least two weeks. Marry me, then after the wedding ceremony, you can leave my side. No matter what happens after that... my mother won't kill you easily because you're already my wife, she would show mercy to you somehow," he said.
Rebecca took a deep breath, analyzing his suggestion carefully. He got a point though. If she will leave this place right now and Sylvia's men find her, she will be outnumbered - she's dead meat especially that Corbin is no longer around to save her. But the desire to leave this place is so strong right now!
Corbin saw that Rebecca was heavily conflicted based on the troubled expression on her face. "Can you listen to me just this once? Bear in mind that if you only obeyed my advice the other night you won't be having this problem right now. Remember?"
Rebecca sighed. "Yeah...I know," she finally admitted her mistake. He never failed to warn her of the danger associated with entering the mansion. But she turned deaf ears to everything that he told her that is why she's trapped in the mansion right now. And there's no guarantee that she can get far away from the mansion without being caught again. Maybe this time, listening to Corbin's advice can guarantee her safety.
"So... what's your decision?" he asked.
"Are you going to feel sad if I'll die suddenly?" she asked him out of the blue.
Corbin sighed. "Of course I do!" he replied quickly.
Rebecca smiled. "It looks like you already developed feelings for me, eh? Am I correct?"
"Isn't that obvious already?" he said, grinning. He opened his arms wide for her.
Rebecca giggled and catapulted into his arms. He embraced her and twirled her around, she shrieked in delight. "You're simply amazing!" she said.
"And so are you!" Corbin replied happily.
Zalvo and Sylvia were watching the couple a few meters away, their location was partially hidden by the trunk of the tree.
"Looks like the couple is very much in love with each other," Zalvo commented. He expressed his view based on what he witnessed in the garden right now. "Wife, just stop getting suspicious of Rebecca, she looks legit to me," he said.
Sylvia pouted. "They should be... or else that woman will be a dead meat if she leaves the house!" she blurted.
Rebecca and Corbin ended up kissing each other's lips passionately in the middle of the garden.
The vampire couple finally took their leave.
After they're done kissing each other, the couple went to the swing and stayed there to their hearts' content.
They're having a good time in the swing surrounded by the beautiful flowers in the garden.
Hours went by.
The couple was very sweet to each other the whole day, truly enjoying each other's company.
During dinner time.
The couple joined Zalvo and Sylvia in the dining room.
Sylvia glanced at Rebecca. "I'll have some people come here tomorrow to bring some wedding gown designs for you to choose from. The wedding decorator will also drop by to see the place for the wedding venue," she told her.
Rebecca smiled brightly. "Bring it on, Madam!" she said cheerfully. She glanced at her groom-to-be.
Corbin planted a kiss on her forehead.
Sylvia rolled her eyes. The couple's smoldering public display of affection is an eyesore. "Let's resume eating our meals, guys," she said.
They ate their meals in silence.
After they finished eating lunch, the couple went upstairs and retire into Corbin's room.
"I'll take a shower," Rebecca said and entered the bathroom. Inside, she was trying to use her teleportation power a few times... but failed each time. She's getting frustrated!
Meanwhile...
Outside, a servant was standing in front of the door, holding several women's dresses in her hands. She knocked on the door.
Corbin opened the door. "What is it?"
"My lord, your mother sent these dresses for your fiancee," the maid said.
"Okay," Corbin replied and took the clothes from the servant.
The servant took her leave.
Corbin shut the door and placed the clothes on the bed.
He went to the window and looked outside, smiling a little. He managed to keep Rebecca by his side for two weeks until the wedding is over. But he can no longer hold her back after the wedding...unless she chose to stay by his side and live with him as husband and wife which is impossible to happen given her state of mind, besides she was just suppressing her hatred for his parents.
The truth is - Rebecca will never be happy living in the same house with the people who attempted to kill her. He and his wife are bound to be separated after the wedding whether he like it or not.
He knows that Rebecca was just trying to listen to his advice this time, but she doesn't give a damn to the wedding. For her, it's just another method to protect herself from certain death.
For Rebecca, marrying him is for a show only. He wished that he also feels the same way towards her, but deep inside, his heart is very much willing to marry her for real. Their physical attraction towards each other is fantastic. He never feels so good having intimate moments with another being! Only with her! He has no deep connection with the women he previously bedded before, they just come and go from his life like a blur.
But this time, he felt profound tenderness towards Rebecca. The urge to protect her for life is strong, it consumed his body and soul. He finally found his mate! Too bad, she's not willing to stay by his side forever.
Well... he still has two full weeks to enjoy her wonderful presence. And no matter what's going to happen in the future, he will always be her first husband, her first kiss, her first in everything and nothing can change that.
Those thoughts somehow comforted his restless mind amidst their impending separation.
