Five days later.
Morning, after breakfast. Corbin and Rebecca were sitting on the bed looking at each other.
"I'm getting bored here!" Rebecca whined.
Corbin sighed. "And so am I... I'm bored too. I certainly can go out of my own but I'm sure that my mother would want you to stay here in the house and I can't leave you alone. That's why I'm also stuck here with you," he said gently, trying to tell her that he was suffering as well due to their current situation.
"When will your mother stop getting suspicious of me?" Rebecca asked.
"After the wedding, she just wants to make sure that you are not an enemy hiding behind a facade. She's still having a little doubt when it comes to your sincerity and honesty. So you have to prove it by marrying me," he said.
"I know..." she replied. She looked at him. "I'm sorry that I put you in this difficult situation, you suffered the same because of me. You could have just hand me over to your mother to be punished, but instead, you go the extra mile to save me again and again. I owe you a lot!" she said feeling emotional. She was grateful for his help, she went to his side and planted a kiss on his lips. "Thank you so much! I don't know how to repay you in this lifetime..." she said in a choked voice. She planted a kiss on his cheek.
Corbin smiled, delighted by her display of affection. "Alright, since you're bored inside this room, we can go outside and stay in the garden or ... we can go horseback riding if you're up for it," he suggested.
Rebecca squealed. "Nice! I miss horseback riding! Let's go!" she said excitedly.
"No, not yet. We will go on a horseback riding this afternoon. Right now we should go down to the living room because you have to choose your wedding gown and let's discuss everything related to the wedding. My mother is in a happy mood right now. Planning for the wedding is making her mind occupied, let's just humor her," Corbin said.
"Alright, Let's go to the living room but I'll take a bath first," she replied.
"Go ahead, I'll wait for you here," he said and spank her rear playfully.
She just smiles sweetly at him and went inside the bathroom after grabbing a dress from the closet.
Corbin's heart somersaulted inside his rib cage. "Oh, damn...I guess I'm smitten by her..." he murmured. The truth is she had unknowingly and successfully carved a place in his heart. Right now, he was falling madly in love with her every day while they're together. It's kind of frightening and at the same time exciting because he had never fallen in love with any woman before.
The worst thing, the woman he fell in love with was harboring deep hatred towards his parents. And once his parents discovered that Rebecca was the impostor who pretended to be Laura during the Awakening Ceremony they will kill her without question.
He released a deep sigh.
Damn!
Falling in love with Rebecca is indeed a complicated thing. He's wondering what is the ending of their journey? Will they end up in death or paradise?
It is unwise to fall in love with Rebecca and go against his parent's wishes. He knows that what he's doing right now is wrong but he can't help it. He needs to make sure that Rebecca is safe and protected inside the mansion under his mother's watchful eyes.
He took a deep breath and allowed the silence to calm down his jittery nerves. There's an uneasy feeling inside his stomach - he feared that his parents will discover Rebecca's secret, sooner! It's not an easy emotion to deal with every day.
He breathed deeply.
Meanwhile...
Inside the bathroom.
Rebecca was already planning her escape once they're already out of the mansion doing horseback riding.
Once a golden opportunity appears... she will immediately leave the mansion without saying goodbye to Corbin!
He will understand...
As the thoughts of escaping flooded her mind, she bathed quickly eager to go outside.
A few minutes later.
Rebecca finally exited the bathroom and went to the dresser table, she picked up the hairbrush and starts brushing her short hair.
She looked behind her and caught Corbin staring intensely at her back. "Aren't you going to take a bath?" she asked him.
"I will." He rose to his feet and went to her side and planted a gentle kiss on her head. "Wait for me, don't leave the room on your own," he said and entered the bathroom.
Rebecca looked at the closed door of the bathroom. Corbin was treating her kindly and gently like she was his lover. She smiled and giggled, just thinking about him made her heart flutter, he filled her heart with gladness.
Too bad, they can't be together in this lifetime because his parents killed her once and she can't forgive them! The only way she can repay Corbin's kindness is to leave, never come back, and forget avenging his parents. She can do that for him!
A few minutes later, Corbin exited the bathroom.
After donning clothes on his body, Corbin looked at Rebecca lovingly. "Darling...are you ready?" he asked.
"Yes," Rebecca answered.
"Let's go!" Corbin reached for her hand.
They exited the room.
The lovely couple walked in the hallway and descended the stairs holding each other's hands.
The moment their feet landed on the floor, Sylvia ushered them to the living room. Several people were already waiting there.
Sylvia introduces the people to the couple. Each of them will play a role in making sure that the wedding will go on smoothly.
Corbin and Rebecca sat on the couch.
One of the visitors showed Rebecca several red wedding gowns hanging on the portable clothing rack. A total of fifteen red wedding gowns in different shades and designs are waiting to be viewed upon.
Sylvia looked at her future daughter-in-law. "Go on, chose two wedding gowns that you like best," she urged her.
Rebecca stood up and walked towards the portable clothing rack and began perusing the gowns one by one.
A few minutes later, she had already chosen her favorite wedding gowns and shoes included.
"Alright, since you already have chosen the wedding gowns and shoes, let's move on to the jewelry and accessory," Sylvia said.
Another visitor moved on forward and showed a box containing the pieces of jewelry and accessories for the bride-to-be.
"Go on, chose what you like to wear on your wedding day, Rebecca," Sylvia urged her.
Rebecca watched the pieces of jewelry and accessories. They're not her thing, she looked at her fake mother-in-law. "Mother, can you please choose the best ones for me. I'm not knowledgeable when it comes to this stuff," she said.
Sylvia smiled. "Sure...I'll help you..." she said. She began choosing five sets of jewelry and accessories that matched with the wedding gowns and shoes. "Picked two sets, dear..." she said.
Rebecca picked two sets of jewelry and accessories that caught her fancy.
"Alright, we're done with the bride. Let's have the groom chose his wedding suit," Sylvia said.
A visitor came forward and paraded fifteen wedding men's suits hanging on the portable clothing rack, then he also arranged ten men's shoes on the floor.
Sylvia looked at Corbin. "Son, it's now your turn to choose..."
Corbin smiled at his bride. "Darling...help me chose the best suit for our wedding," he said.
Rebecca smiled. "Alright, I'll help you..." she replied.
The couple stood up and checked the suit one by one while smiling and whispering sweet nothings to each other.
Sylvia was observing the couple's gesture, they're sweet to each other, and there is no mistake of the love that shone in her son's eyes every time he looked at his bride. He was never this affectionate and loving to his previous flings. This time, he acted differently with Rebecca. His affection manifested in the way he looked at her, he was in love with her!
Rebecca must be the one for her son!
That's why she was hands-on on the wedding preparation, she wants the best wedding for her eldest son.
Minutes went by.
The couple finished choosing two suits and went back to their seats.
After they're done with the groom and bride's gowns and suits, they moved on to the wedding decoration, food, and drinks.
Sylvia made all the suggestions animatedly and the couple agreed with her.
By the time they finished discussing everything about the wedding, it's already lunchtime.
The guest went home while Rebecca and Corbin along with his parents proceed to the dining room to eat lunch.
Half an hour later.
After eating lunch, the couple went to the stable situated a hundred meters away from the main house.
Corbin brought Rebecca to the stable to see the different breed of horses and allow her to chose her horse for the ride.
A few minutes later.
Corbin brought Rebecca to the area ideal for horseback riding located at the back of the stable, it was followed by an endless forest behind them.
The couple was enjoying riding the horses.
Rebecca's eyes scanned the area, looking for something, wanting to see if Sylvia's men were stationed nearby. Surprisingly, she found none.
Maybe her power will work now since she's already more than 100 meters away from the mansion.
This is the perfect opportunity to escape!
She went down from the horse followed by Corbin. They walked towards the nearest tree.
She looked at him one last time, she was surprised to see him looking at her intensely.
Corbin looked straight into his eyes. "A-are you planning to escape now?" he asked.
Rebecca took a deep breath. "Yeah. Now is the perfect time to escape!" she told him.
Corbin sighed as deep sadness clouded his face. "Can you please wait after the wedding before escaping?" he asked in a pleading voice.
"I'm sorry, I can't. I have to go!" she said with a heavy heart.
Corbin groaned in sadness and dismay, his heart is bleeding inside his ribcage.
