Just as Lady Melissa was about to leave, the Duke said something.
"Oh yeah, before I forget, the food will be served to you in a few minutes, Melissa, and have a nice rest."
The Duke casually said before opening his newspaper and continuing to read it.
"Thanks for the reminder, dad. I hope you and mom have a nice rest tonight as well."
Lady Melissa responded before running back into her room over the flight of stairs.
Lady Melissa headed back into her room, her eyes on the ground.
Before she had realized it, she bumped into someone.
Lady Melissa quickly stood up, and just before she was about to apologize, the person had already done.
"I'm sorry, Lady Melissa."
They said, quickly running before Lady Melissa could even catch a glimpse of them.
'I wonder who was that. Their voice sounded like a girl's, but I'm not sure.'
Lady Melissa thought before quickly forgetting about the incident.
Lady Melissa was about to open the door to her room before her leg had hit something metallic.
Lady Melissa looked down, curious to see what she had hit.
'OHHHH, THE PERSON JUST NOW WAS DELIVERING TONIGHT'S DINNER FOR ME.'
Lady Melissa thought, now that made sense why she had bumped into the person close to her room.
'I should thank the person next time for delivering my dinner if I recognize the voice next time.'
Lady Melissa took the metal cup that she had hit with her foot just now and the tray with Lady Melissa's dinner on top of it.
Lady Melissa's stomach was already rumbling at both the smell and sight of it.
It was one of her favourite things, other than lobsters, of course.
Crabs, but not just 'any' crabs, they had to be spicy or else Lady Melissa wouldn't like it.
Lady Melissa excitedly picked up the wooden tray containing her dinner and her metal cup.
Although it was a little difficult for Lady Melissa to carry both the wooden tray and her metal cup in one hand and use the other to open the door, she had luckily managed not to drop or spill anything.
Lady Melissa left the door open, quickly running to her desk to put down the wooden tray and her metal cup, afraid that if she didn't do it quickly, they would fall and she wouldn't be able to eat any of the crabs anymore because of the germs and bacteria on the floor.
"Phew."
Lady Melissa let out a sigh of relief, relieved that she hadn't dropped or spilt anything by accident.
She quickly closes the door before going back to her desk and opening the chair for her to sit in.
'I can't wait to try this.'
Lady Melissa thought before quickly going into the bathroom to wash her hands with soap and water.
After a minute, Lady Melissa was done washing her hands, quickly running to her desk, eager to try out her dinner and eat it all up.
Lady Melissa took the Crab Cracker shell right beside her desk, and her other hand taking the crab.
Slowly she put the crab cracker shell space bigger and bigger before taking one of the crab's legs and putting it into the crab cracker shell.
After a few seconds had passed, a satisfying crunch was heard from the crab cracker shell, and Lady Melissa had managed to crack open one of the crab's legs.
Lady Melissa put the crab cracker shell opener on the tissue she had placed just now.
Before using her hands, opening the crab and eating it.
"MMM!"
Lady Melissa moaned in delight, the Shayla's personal chef never failed to exceed her expectations every single time.
And the spice the crab was topped with was just amazing. She could feel her tongue burning already (in a good way, if that was possible).
'Yep, I definitely DON'T regret giving the chef a raise.'
Lady Melissa said, thinking over the time she had asked her father to give the chef a raise to which her father had kindly allowed.
Lady Melissa ate more and more of the crab, making sure to dip it on the chilli every single time.
As every minute passed, Lady Melissa started to sweat more and more. She wanted to drink the water from the metal cup right beside her, but her hands were dirty, and she didn't exactly like the uncomfortable sensation she would have if she touched the clean metal cup with her dirty hands.
Lady Melissa thought of an idea, and she would take the tissue paper that was right in front of her and cover her hands before picking up the metal cup and taking a few sips from it.
The plan worked, and after a few more minutes had passed, Lady Melissa had finally finished her meal.
Lady Melissa was about to read one of her favourite books called 'No Longer Human' by the infamous Japanese author Osamu Dazai before she heard a knock on the door.
"Hello? Who is it?"
Lady Melissa asked, curious to know who was it that had knocked on her door.
After a few more seconds of waiting, there was still no response, and the knocking had stopped as well.
Lady Melissa opened the door, expecting to see someone in front of the door, but to her surprise, no one was there.
She was about to head back into her room when there was something right in front of her door, a small cup with ice cream and not just any ice cream. It was cookies and cream.
Immediately Lady Melissa went into a state of joy; she couldn't wait to try out the ice cream.
'I wonder why whoever brought the dessert to me didn't respond when I called them, though….'
Lady Melissa thought to herself before quickly brushing off the thought and heading inside her room with the ice cream in one hand.
'Did the chef make this as well?'
Lady Melissa thought.
'He probably did. After all, he prepares all the desserts and foods for the Shayla estate.'
Lady Melissa thought before nodding her head.
