'Well, now that that's settled, I should probably go take a shower.'
Lady Melissa thought before sniffing her body.
'Yep, definitely need a shower.'
Just as Lady Melissa was about to shower, she heard a knock on the door.
"What is it?"
Lady Melissa shouted.
"I was going to tell you that your breakfast is ready, Lady Melissa."
Sophia shouted back as well.
'I guess I'll just eat breakfast first then.'
Lady Melissa thought before opening her door.
"Alright, thanks Sophia, I'll go and eat my breakfast now."
Sophia quickly bowed her head down, saying goodbye to Lady Melissa before going back to do her work as a maid.
Although Lady Melissa wanted to shower, her stomach was growling at this point, and she was afraid that the food would get cold by the time she reached the dinner table if she showered.
'Fuck it. I'll just go downstairs and eat now.'
Lady Melissa thought before quickly running downstairs and running to the dinner table, eager to try out the ham-cheese sandwich that she had requested.
Lady Melissa quickly took one of the empty seats, not realizing that there were other people.
"Good Morning Melissa."
The Duke greeted her.
In an instance, Lady Melissa raised her head, looking upwards, and a confused expression was on her face, confused on who had just greeted her good morning.
After a few seconds of looking at her father's face, she realized that she wasn't the only one on the dining table.
"Good morning Father and Mother."
Lady Melissa greeted back before quickly skimming through whatever newspaper her father was reading.
Her pupils widened, realizing that it was a news article about the infamous murderer Jack The Ripper and how another murder had occurred. This time however it was in the same place as where she and Sophia had been last time.
'Ignore it, Melissa. I'll deal with this later.'
Lady Melissa thought, ignoring the scared sensation in her heart.
"Good morning Dearie, or should I say afternoon? The both of you got it wrong."
The Duchess playfully rolled her eyes before continuing to eat her lunch.
"Oh yeah, it seems that I was wrong. My apologies, mother and father. Good afternoon to the both of you."
Lady Melissa said once more, correcting the mistake she had made the first time.
"Haha, it's fine Melissa, your mother was being a tad bit mean and playing a little joke on you."
The Duke said, awkwardly laughing.
Lady Melissa simply nodded her head, not knowing what to say.
After a few seconds had passed, one of the many servants in the Shayla estate carried a tray, bringing it into Lady Melissa's side of the table and opening it, only to reveal the ham-cheese sandwich she had requested earlier.
'This is going to taste good. I just know it.'
Lady Melissa thought after sniffing the melted cheese that was all over the ham.
"I hope you enjoy your meal, Lady Melissa, Duke and Duchess."
The servant quickly bowed his head down before bringing the empty tray back into the kitchen.
"Don't choke on your food."
The Duchess said, just as Lady Melissa was about to take a big bite of the sandwich.
"Pfft, it's not as if I'm gonna choke on the sandwich, mom."
Lady Melissa said, brushing off her mother's comment.
"Well, if you say so."
The Duchess replied, quickly shrugging her arms.
"Make sure to drink some water first."
The Duke interrupted, just as Lady Melissa was about to take a big bite of the sandwich AGAIN.
"Yeah, yeah, I will."
Lady Melissa said, quickly picking up the glass that was beside her.
Before taking a few sips of the glass filled with water, motioning to her father that she WAS indeed drinking the water before eating her breakfast.
Her father laughed before quickly covering it up with a cough.
Lady Melissa took the sandwich that was right in front of her, taking a big bite of the sandwich, and by the time she had finished chewing the big bite of the sandwich she took, only ¾ of the sandwich was left remaining. She had swallowed ¼ of the sandwich in just one giant bite.
Leaving her parents in shock.
"Drink some water, dearie. I don't want you to die early."
The Duchess said, trying to sound playful, but you could hear the worry in her tone.
"Yes, what your mother said, Melissa."
The Duke said, nodding his head in agreement with the Duchess' statement.
"Fine."
Lady Melissa said after sighing.
She quickly took the glass of water on the table before drinking it all in one go.
"Happy now?"
Lady Melissa sarcastically asked, to which both her parents didn't respond.
Lady Melissa ate more and more of the sandwich, and in the span of a few minutes, it was finished.
Lady Melissa burped, quickly pretending as nothing had happened.
'The sandwich is delicious as always.'
Lady Melissa thought, liking the sandwich the chef had made, it was surprising how such a simple sandwich could taste so flavourful, at least it was surprising to Lady Melissa.
"You should use the napkin dearie, you've got a little something on your face."
The Duchess said, motioning at the right side of Lady Melissa's cheek.
Lady Melissa, who was now flustered, quickly took the napkin below her before wiping her mouth.
"Is it still there?"
Lady Melissa asked, embarrassed.
"Nope."
The Duke replied, not even looking up at her from his newspaper.
"Thanks."
Lady Melissa said, thanking her mother.
"No problem, just make it a habit of wiping your mouth with a napkin even if it's not dirty, just in case."
"I guess your right, Mother."
Lady Melissa said, nodding her head.
"Oh yeah, Melissa, before you go, can you please be more on the lookout?"
The Duke said, worry filling his tone.
"Huh?"
Lady Melissa asked, confused why her father had suddenly brought that up before she realized.
"So...you know how there's a serial killer that goes by Jack The Ripper now, right?"
Lady Melissa nodded her head.
"I've heard that he just murdered someone yesterday, and I want you to be on the lookout, okay?"
The Duke explained why he had suddenly brought up the topic.
