"I never knew you had it in you Lady Persephone."
One of the ladies said, as Lady Melissa finally remembered the name of the Lady that the man had kneeled down to.
"Mhm, he's a decent man."
Another lady chirped in as all the noble ladies on the table agreed that he was a decent man, all except for Lady Yae who was bursting with anger, though she knew better than to cause a commotion, especially with the fact that some of the males had arrived.
Lady Melissa quickly glanced at the clock, just wondering how much time she had remaining before the two hours would be up.
Thirty minutes had passed, and there were only three or four men who had arrived.
Lady Melissa glanced at her mother's table, filled with all kinds of Duchess as she wondered how things were going on that table.
Lady Melissa wanted to be a part of that table, after all, Duchess' were the most important connections a Lady could get, especially for rumours.
Lady Melissa observed the conversation as multiple ladies were still talking about Lady Persephone and the man, which Lady Melissa had now remembered was Baron Harrington, and although he didn't have that many achievements, he was a decent man from the way the ladies were talking about him, or at least he seemed to be one.
Lady Melissa didn't know much about him, nor did she care to anyways, as long as he wasn't in any of her business, then she'd be more than happy to talk to him.
Soon enough, the noblemen started coming one by one, as the Duke of the Shayla estate, also Lady Melissa's father had appeared, a tiger being carried by some of the servants, as he asked the Duchess of the Shayla estate whether she'd accept it.
Of course, the Duchess accepted it, after all, who was she to deny her husband from such a gift? Knowing how hard it was to catch a tiger, and the amount of effort he put into catching it.
Lady Melissa smiled sweetly, the other ladies had been offered animals as well, such as rabbits, owls, and even monkeys, though there weren't more mediocre sized animals that the noble ladies received, other than Lady Yae of course. (This is in the table Lady Melissa is sitting about by the way, not the one where her mother is sitting in)
Lady Melissa could see the jealous eyes of the other ladies, as they looked at Lady Melissa's mother, wondering when their prince charming would arrive and give them a mediocre sized animal.
It was embarrassing for most of the women that the animals that they had received were small animals, since the bigger the animal the bigger the man loved them.
It wasn't long for another man to give one of the ladies his catch, though it wasn't any of the ladies that Lady Melissa was sitting in.
It was the Crown Prince, with his servants bringing his catch. There were multiple animals, ranging from ducks to even an antelope, though there wasn't anything that was too big.
Lady Melissa could already imagine the next few words that were going to come out from the ladies that were sitting on her table, and she knew that they weren't going to be flattering, at least not for the brunette-haired woman.
Something that had interested Lady Melissa was the fact that nobody in the table knew of the brunette-haired woman, she had never attended any public events gatherings or anything of the sort, which led to some of the women thinking that she was someone of low status.
Perhaps a maid, that the Crown Prince had 'accidentally' gotten pregnant, and decided that he should take responsibility because of his 'good' heart.
Nobody knew where the brunette-haired woman had come from, or even who she was, none of the women on the table even knew her name.
Lady Melissa observed the Crown Prince as he approached the brunette-haired woman, who had a table of her own, with only her sitting on it.
"My darling, will you accept my catches?"
The Crown Prince said as the brunette-haired woman let out a smile as if she was happy that the Crown Prince had gotten her so many animals, but Lady Melissa could see through her.
Her eyes, they wanted something bigger, something more amazing, something she could gloat and boast to the public about, and least to say this definitely wasn't it.
Nonetheless, the brunette-haired woman knew better than to whine and cry about it in public, knowing the number of eyes that were both on her, and her fiance's figure, as she pretended to be happy, letting out a smile.
"I love it, you're the best Hen."
The brunette-haired woman said, as she smiled at her fiance, pretending to be happy that he had gotten her so many animals, as she used his nickname on her, a sign of showing that she and her fiance were close.
After all, she could sense the judging stares that were sent to her from the table filled with Ladies.
She hadn't joined them because she knew that most of them had strong feelings about her.
"Of course darling, only the best for you."
The Crown Prince said as he let out a smile, a genuine smile.
To which Lady Melissa had to try and stop herself from throwing up.
Since when did he ever smile like that? Perhaps he has been brain-washed by the brunette-haired woman?
Lady Melissa could feel the tension in her table, as multiple ladies were glaring at the brunette-haired woman, anger visible on their faces.
Lady Melissa could hear some of the other Ladies complimenting the Crown Prince, saying how sweet he was before they brought up the topic of how small some of the animals he had caught for the brunette-haired woman had been, admittedly though there were some animals that were mediocre sized, however, there were only two of them, which consisted of a snake and a deer, which wasn't that romantic, or even romantic at all.. Though in their complete defence, nothing about the hunting event was romantic, it was animals being killed just as a sign of their love for a person, or more specifically, a lady.
