Chapter 257 - 257

Lady Melissa could hear the King mumble to himself and whisper all sorts of things, but once again, because of the distance that was between the two of them, she wasn't able to hear what he was saying quite clearly.

Though she did manage to figure out some of the words that he was saying, as she could've sworn she saw him roll his eyes- not knowing why he had even done such a thing, though she knew better than to ask him.

"Alright, you may excuse yourself now."

The King said, with his booming voice as his words echoed throughout the room multiple times, Lady Melissa flinched at how loud his sound was- well almost flinching since she had kept her guard up the entire time.

Lady Melissa, like usual, greeted the King goodbye, before she left the room, knowing that the next time she would be here- at least because of the King would be in the next few weeks or so, since she didn't need any more reasons to come to the royal palace.

She could simply do it all by writing letters, though of course if there had been an important matter that arose regarding her deal with the King, she'd have to come to the royal palace and such.

Lady Melissa had managed to sneak a copy of her contract, the signed version which also had the King's signature as well, and had managed to duplicate it, all whilst the King was watching her, though he hadn't caught her.

Lady Melissa had somehow managed to make a replica of her, at least for a minute, and she had exactly a minute to duplicate the contract, using a spell, she had used an invisibility spell on her as well, and used another spell to make a replica of her.

Lady Melissa had made a replica of the contract as well, switching the replica and real contract amongst each other, as she handed it over to the fake her, slowing down time whilst doing so, so that the King wouldn't notice it.

What would seem like an eternity to her, wouldn't even reach a second for the King, so time would slow down for her, but on the other hand, it would be the same for the King, since speed travels faster than the speed of light.

Lady Melissa had managed to successfully create a replica of her contract, as she placed it in her briefcase, closing it shut before she came back to her body, and all of that happened in less than even one minute.

Nonetheless, it was sure to say that the books she had asked Sophia to buy for her, and reading from the Shayla estate's personal library, was definitely beneficial- at least for her, considering she had learnt a numerous number of new tricks.

Lady Melissa's magic skills had increased dramatically over the past few days and weeks. From a mediocre and struggling student in magic, she had turned into a student who was learning spells far too young for her age.

Lady Melissa genuinely had fun though every time she learnt more and more about magic, the topic was always somewhat interesting to her, and she was more than interested to learn something new about it every single time her magic teacher came along.

Lady Melisa would never regret holding a wand- and asking her parents for magic skills, and she certainly wasn't regretting them now, as she successfully walked out the King's room, the contract in her briefcase, as a smirk played on her lips.

The smirk disappeared as soon as it came though, as Lady Melisa made sure not to let her guard down, knowing that she could experience all kinds of monsters and nightmares in the royal palace.

Lady Melissa had always made sure that her guard was up no matter where it was- and especially if it was in the royal palace.

Lady Melissa opened up her briefcase, reading through the contract once more, even though she had reread each one of its pages multiple times, though she hadn't detected any magic on the contract, meaning that the King hadn't hidden the contract as a fake one, and she was signing another contract with different terms.

Lady Melissa had made sure to check that when she had paused time, making sure that there wasn't even a single trace of magic in the contract- and as luck would have it, there wasn't a single bit of it.

Lady Melissa got onto her desk, as she let out a sigh, she had sighed a lot of times today, perhaps it was out of tiredness- or perhaps she was relieved that everything was finally over, at least for the day.

Lady Melissa let out a yawn, as she checked the time, not even realizing how late it had gotten. When she had checked it earlier, it was nine P.M., which was the time she had arrived back at the Shayla estate.

Lady Melissa got herself to work, as the clock started to tick with every minute that had passed, time seemingly not being Lady Melissa's focus anymore as she focused on the paperwork, looking at the endless piles of it on her desk.

At this point, Lady Melissa was pretty sure that her parents only had a small bit of paperwork, most of the paperwork was given to Lady Melissa anyways, and she had stumbled across paperwork regarding the Shayla estate's mines, which was how she remembered that it would be a great help to the King, for the future events.

And that was how she had come up with the grand idea of sending the King a letter, and making a deal with him- a deal with the devil, though in this case, she was the devil, one that people should know better than to mess with.

Lady Melissa hadn't told either of her parents about the fact that the Shayla estate's mines were going to be handed over to the King, instead, she was planning to get the deed to them and hand it to the King the next week or so- the next time that she was going to be visiting the royal palace.

Now that she had successfully got a contract with the King, she hadn't seen why she should rush, knowing that the contract couldn't be broken unless the deal had been finished, it was one of the terms that Lady Melissa had read in the contract.
