Chapter 259 - 259

The time was ticking- though Lady Melissa had a plan on how to get the deed to the Shayla estate's mines, she always had a plan- no matter the situation, considering she needed to be ready at any given moment with what was to come.

There were a lot of events that had been happening way earlier then it should have been; as well as events that should have happened, but hadn't happened, and then there were the major events.

So far, all of the major events had happened- though each of them would be slightly different than how it was in her previous life, there would perhaps be a twist to the story, whether it was an unexpected or expected one.

Lady Melissa was losing some of her cards- as she hoped that the remaining ones were going to be safe for her to use, such as Duke Gaston's sister, or a few other major events that would happen in the future.

Lady Melissa wasn't prepared for the future- though she did try to prepare herself, there was never going to be a way for her to be truly prepared for the future- and truly ready for what was going to come.

Lady Melissa never was going to be-and she had accepted that fact, after all, she needed to learn how to accept some things and this was one of them, she needed to put herself in a reality check (like fact check but make it a reality).

Lady Melissa had managed to sneak into her parents' room, as she had gotten Justin, and the rest of her bodyguards to aid her whilst doing so- not trusting any of them to be the ones to get the deed from her parent's room.

One of the bodyguards had actually managed to distract her parents- well was currently distracting her parents, as she pretended to be one of the maids- when in reality, she was just wearing a maid outfit and had drunk a potion that Lady Melissa had given her.

Now, Lady Melissa was pretty sure that a maid knocking at their door would get them furious- hence she allowed her bodyguard to do whatever she wanted to well say whatever she wanted to as long as she knew that it would be okay if Lady Melissa heard it.

Lady Melissa didn't want her bodyguard to be spewing about her- or make up some rumours about her and talk about her own master in front of her parents, whilst she was sneaking inside their room, using the invisibility potion.

Lady Melissa had actually managed to get the invisibility potion, from one minute up to five minutes, with the help of one of her friends, who was practically a genius when it came to magic.

Lady Melissa had five minutes, five minutes to find the deed to the Shayla estate's mines, though she wasn't worried about her bodyguard, although the bodyguard was stoic and silent almost all the time, she knew how to pretend.

How to pretend to be someone- something, because of the life that she had been living, not like Lady Melissa even knew about it though; though that was a story for another day.

Lady Melissa had been making her footsteps as silent as possible, and her bodyguard had been speaking so loudly, just in case Lady Melissa accidentally made a wrong step or two, though so far, she hadn't yet.

Lady Melissa glanced back momentarily, a little proud at the fact that her bodyguard was able to distract her parents so effortlessly, without the both of them even having a single suspicion for the maid.

Lady Melissa quickly shook her head though, focusing on the main goal, since she could always be proud of her bodyguard later on, and preferably, not now when she had less than five minutes remaining to find the deed.

Lady Melissa went to the closet room first, the room that was filled with both of their clothes together, one side filled with her father's clothes, whilst the other side was filled with her mother's.

It was a little interesting for Lady Melissa, least to say, seeing one of the sides filled with suits, the colour black and such- and the other side to be filled with dresses, and colourful colours that Lady Melissa was sure was brighter than her future (and mine).

The complete opposite in both of their personalities was a reminder to Lady Melissa, how much her parents were polar opposites from each other- and how different they were, though most of the time they were pretty similar to each other, at least in Lady Melissa's eyes.

Both of them not caring about her, and not treating her with love and affection, not as she needed it though- she had already made a vow to herself, and she knew better than to break a vow, especially one that she had made to herself.

Lady Melissa searched through the closet, as she quietly and carefully searched through the clothes, and the drawers in the closet room, making sure that she hadn't missed anything, just in case the deed could be there.

Lady Melissa found nothing- though she didn't give up just yet, knowing that it would take much much more for her to give up on the deed- especially when she had managed to secure a deal with the King no less.

She'd rather find the deed and disobey her parents- both of them- rather than face the King's wrath, which could maybe even go on for multiple generations if he was feeling that petty and ridiculous.

Though it wasn't a problem for her though, as Lady Melissa kept her cool- it was better to keep her cool in situations like these, since the very moment she panicked would be the very moment she had failed.

Lady Melissa slowly, yet quickly exited her parent's closet room, the door had been open the entire time, so she didn't have to close anything, much to her luck, as Lady Melissa went to another room in her parent's room.
