Chapter 29 – You Should Go And Reincarnate (4)
The door cracked opened and an old man over the year of 60 stood by the door and smiled at her, “To what do I owe the pleasure, young lady?”
Looking at the old man in front of her, half of his hair had already turned white. He had a gentle look and had on an unlined long gown. He matched the image that Yu Duo had of a medium very well.
“Master Wen, I would like to discuss a private issue with you. Is this a good time?”
“Sure, c’mon in,” said Master Wen as he took a step to the side to let her in.
Yu Duo thanked him and walked into the yard.
“Master, my husband had passed away about a month ago, but recently I felt that he has been around….”
Hearing her, Master Wen understood what she was asking, “So you want to meet your husband?”
Yu Duo shook her head immediately. She did not want to meet Fu Sinian at all.
She had an idea, with the way she had been behaving recently, Fu Sinian would probably eat her alive.
“No, no, no.” Yu Duo had a guilty conscience, “You see, he had been gone for a while now. And life must go on. I don’t think he should be staying with me instead of going and reincarnate. I would like you to let him know that I am fine, and that he should go and reincarnate.”
Master Wen nodded, “I get it now.”
Yu Duo smiled, “Do you think you will be able to help me?”
“Yes, but….” said Master Wen with a troubled look.
Yu Duo quickly produced an envelope of cash, “Just a little something, not a problem.”
“That’s not what I meant. What I wanted to say was, do you have anything that belonged to your husband?”
“Belonged to him?”
“Or something that he had touched.”
“He had touched…” Yu Duo thought about it for a second and looked up and down herself. Finally, she looked at her ring and asked, “He put this ring on me himself, would that work?”
Master Wen looked at it and nodded, “That will work.”
Quickly, Yu Duo removed her ring and handed it over to him.
Master Wen looked at the ring for a bit and said, “Okay, just wait here for a moment.”
Yu Duo thanked him genuinely, “Thank you so much, Master.”
After the Master had gone inside his house, Yu Duo put her hands together and muttered, “Husband, since you are already dead, you should go and reincarnate. I…. I swear, I will not remarry, I will never remarry! I will be your widow for life! Please forgive me.”
After a small while, Master Wen came back out from the house and gave her back her ring. He sat on the chair and let out a theatrical sigh.
Yu Dou asked anxiously, “Master, how did it go?”
Master Wen gave her a look.
Yu Duo was nervous. No? Fu Sinian wouldn’t agree? He still wanted to take her with him?
Her legs started to shake.
Before Yu Duo had a complete meltdown, Master Wen gave her his reassurance, “Don’t worry, he is gone.”
“Gone? Is that true?”
“Of course it’s true.”
Yu Duo was surprised and happy, “Master, thank you. Really, thank you so much. You have saved me…. No, you have saved my husband!”
She handed him the envelope of cash that she had prepared and Master Wen finally accepted it after some back and forth.
“Your neck….”
Yu Duo looked down. Somehow all the buttons around her neck area were undone, and a stretch of red marks exposed for all to see.
She quickly rebuttoned herself, but before she could say she was alright, Master Wen said to her, “Oh, you have an allergy. Here, here’s some grass paste that I made myself. It will clear them all up in two days!”
As he was talking, he handed a small green bottle over to Yu Duo.
Yu Duo was baffled. She pointed at her neck and said, “You said this is an allergic reaction?”
“It was all red, what else could it be? It looked bad, but don’t worry. My grass paste works wonders with allergic reactions. I won’t charge you for it. Just take it with you.”
She could smell the pungent odor from the grass paste. Suddenly, Yu Duo asked a question that struck Master Wen’s soul, “Master Wen, do you… do you have a wife?”
Naturally, Yu Duo was kicked out of his place.
But that was alright.
Now that Fu Sinian had gone to reincarnate, he wouldn’t be able to haunt her like he had been anymore.
She was happy all over again.
She was in a great mood on their way home. Suddenly a sense of chilliness came out of nowhere and Yu Duo shuddered. She said to Xiao Zhang, the chauffeur, “Xiao Zhang, can you please turn off the air conditioning? It’s a bit cold back here.”
“Yes, Madam.”
After Xiao Zhang went to turn off the air conditioning, it had finally dawned on her.
The air conditioning in the car hadn’t been on.
