In the Beast Realm, the Water Dome of Doom had almost completely eliminated the free space within. The Fire High Gods were now standing back to back as they kept providing energy to their Flame Barrier.
They had been fighting the water for 9 years straight without rest and were feeling truly exhausted. Only their willpower kept them going.
"F*ck! Are we truly going to become f*ckingdried meat?" Blaze swore and complained once again.
Magma had since long ceased to respond to his brother's outbursts. He already found it difficult to not pass out and wouldn't waste any more power on talking back at him.
"If we die here, I am going to f*cking find the bastard in the next lifetime and ****."
Magma bitterly smiled to himself, when Blaze mentioned the afterlife. Maybe their fate was truly meeting its end right here.
How sad wouldn't Ember and their son be? How would the clan or the Celestial Emperor react?
He just hoped that the news of their death, wouldn't shatter the peace that had maintained for the last few hundred thousand years.
They were after all within the borders of the Beast Realm. Their death would be held responsible by the Beast Emperor if the true culprit wasn't found. Whether the Celestial Emperor would pursue the case or not, was something Magma found it hard to foresee.
No matter what happend, Magma wished that his family and clan will be left in one piece.
If he could choose, he would select to be reborn in his clan. In that case, he would be constantly near his previous family, even if he wouldn't retain the memories of them.
"Hey brother, do you sense it?"
Blaze's question alerted Magma, which made him focus on the changes outside the water sphere.
"Hm, thick earth essence... someone is casting spells."
"Do you think it's reinforcement from the Beast Realm?" Blaze speculated. Their clan didn't possess spell casters of Earth magic after all.
"Could be."
Five days later, the Fire High Gods could feel the decline of the walls of their cage. Unlike the last few years, the water that was vaporized by them wasn't replaced. Hence the free space within was growing larger and larger.
The joy they experienced when the Water Dome of Doom finally collapsed was undescribable. Both had a big smile painted on their faces, before they froze as they sensed people approaching them.
They were both at the brink of exhaustion and wouldn't manage a battle if enemies were approaching.
