The first time I had heard her mentioning mates I was angry. Seven years was a good amount of time. At that point, I've come to terms with my conditions. The loneliness was not a foreign emotion to me. Now finding the one, your other half usually was very rare for females of the supernatural kid but it does happen. I lived a thousand of years alone. Pushing forward and never look back was how I live my life. Now, I had a chance to redo it all.
"I know. I don't want to talk about it anymore, please." I said flatly,
There is one golden rule we had to keep at any cost. It was to honor the deal. My mother broke that very rule by having a child with her lover when she was betrothed to the devil. The consequence was more than any being should have to suffer, never having a mate. For I her only child was destined to be on my own when I was younger I had hoped but it had long since passed.
I once believe I'd be like hundreds of our kind the supernatural that married before they were sixteen as it always has been done almost as if it was ingrained in their blood. Long ago in ancient times, males would stop at nothing for their mate was the most prized possession so even when the culture had evolved since but old instincts were hard to control usual a wedding fallow by a bonding would happen after the happy event.
My mother did not escape the consequences either. Having to repay the devil with her soul. And then there was the interest three times over. It was not my problem.
Father on the other hand sort of got with a tap. It was neither good or bad. He lost his mate my mother but doesn't remember it. He does remember me however with out a soul, he does not loves me like a father should.
"Stop making faces and listen. Never exchange blood and don't bite or you are going to be bond for eternality against your will." Aunt Morgan said as she drank her tea."Forever is a long time to stay together if you are not sure of it. I know you are less spontaneous than Diana but still it is a possibility."
"Yes, Aunt Morgan. I'll be careful."
It was annoying but they meant well. And my dear cousin Diana did get herself bond by accident so their concern had merit. What they didn't know is Diana would bond with four men. And get herself mix in a ton of trouble that spill over into my life. It got so bad I seal her way. Not that she stayed sealed. This was one problem I had to take care. But first I needed power. Currently, I had nothing to my name but a few parlor tricks.
"Remember, You can bite or exchange blood but don't do both." They said in chorus.
"I know. It takes all three to form the bond but if you just want to active the protection it just takes a few drops of blood. Anything you want to tell me?"
There was a paused. It made me sign. My aunts usually had a hidden motive for everything they did and rarely was it straight forward as meeting a potential mate in the timely future. At least this time I had experinece it so I could play the game with them.
