The moment Yve arrives at their house, she takes a bath and freshens up. Nyelle is in the dressing room looking for the appropriate clothes for Yve to wear. Finding the right dress and perfect shoes to pair up with is easy but looking for the right underwear seems not. Even when Yve returns from the bathroom, Nyelle fails to pull out the kind that she likes.
"Is there anything wrong, Nyelle?"
"I can't seem to find the correct pair of undies you might need to wear."
"Oh, I'm already wearing it." Yve calmly answers as she brushes her hand on the textile of the dress Nyelle chose for her.
"Please don't tell me it's one of your many lame pairs."
"No. Mom gave it to me when she few months back. It's not my cup of tea but tonight seems pretty special. I ought it might get down to it." Yve smiles nervously as she walks to the dresser where she starts doing her make-up.
"Yve, you know you've got this, right? Just trust Vince and just tell her to be gentle, which I know he will be." Nyelle comforts her and removes the towel on Yve's head and starts drying her hair.
"I know and I will."
The ladies are busy doing the glamour magic for a few more minutes. Then Nyelle exclaims,
"Ta-da! You're finished! Now let's have Sylvan drive you there."
As for Vince, he's about to leave for the hotel and makes a phone call to Eybelle regarding to Yve's status.
"We're still on our way home, Primo. Do you wish to speak to her? She's asleep though and do you want me to wake her up?"
"Nope. There's no need. But in case she looks for me, tell her I'm meeting my mom tonight at the hotel so I will be home late."
"Copy that, Primo."
Eybelle makes a lie to her Boss per Yve's request.
Because Yve left the house earlier, she arrives at the hotel way earlier than Vince and with the reserving the entire restaurant on the top floor of the hotel, they have the place exclusive for them. Yve verifies the details with the restaurant staff based on the plan earlier.
"Mrs. Gray, someone from security has just told me that Mr. Gray has arrived downstairs." The assistant manager comes walking inside the restaurant.
"Thank you. I'll leave the preparation up to you now." Yve temporarily leaves the place to allow Vince to walk into the restaurant.
'The restaurant seems to be empty. Did mom seriously reserve the entire place so just for us to dine and talk?' Vince's curiosity on this dinner is getting him worked up nevertheless; he takes his seat and is served by the waiter with food.
"I haven't ordered anything yet." Vince informs the waiter with an unspoken question of, 'Who ordered all of this?' The young waiter understood the hidden question and instantly answers.
"Mrs. Gray ordered this earlier. She's on her way."
"I see. Thank you."
Slowly and nervously, Yve walks to the table with Vince's back facing her at the moment. She sees him looking at the skyscraper appreciating the city lights.
"Vince?" Yve calls out his name and he turns to him with an unexpected look on his face.
His expression says it all that he wasn't expecting her. She then realizes that Vince might have called Eybelle and the latter lied to him as requested earlier.
"Can I join you for dinner tonight?" Yve asks him with watery eyes.
Vince smiles and nods upon confirmation that he still can't say no to his wife. He has now an idea that the Mrs. Gray the waiter mentioned and this entire reservation might be her plan all along.
"I'm sorry about this morning."
"Let's not talk about it for now. Let's just eat since you did prepare for this." Vince dodges the topic with food which Yve clearly understands.
"Okay. Let's eat then." Feeling a little bit dejected, Yve starts eating the food served in front of her.
Both of them just eat silently with nothing but only the clinging of the utensils against each other and the plates are heard. This is something that Yve never expected to happen. It seems that rejecting him this morning was a bit too much. But being treated this way is also too much to take for Yve so she decides to take a breather by walking to the piano.
Meanwhile, Vince is just observing his wife. He's not really angry anymore but he thinks that Yve needs to be more open to him. If getting mad at her is the way, then he'll try his best to look and remain that way even if he really isn't.
Yve opens the piano and starts playing the song she just prepared at the vacation house. She plays a few notes and sings the lyrics she had written.
Heart beats fast
Colors and promises
How to be brave
How can I love when I'm afraid to fall
But watching you stand alone
All of my doubt, suddenly goes away somehow
One step closer
These words are exactly what Yve felt when they suddenly met years after she ended their relationship. She looks at Vince as she sings her heart out just to see what would be his reaction. But all she got is a poker face.
Oh and if Yve only knows how hard it is for Vince to stay neutral and unaffected of her sudden serenade. He's just there sitting while drinking his cup of tea yet heaven knows it's driving him crazy. He just wants to kiss her right there and then.
'Don't even think about it, Vince. She will just stop you and it will frustrate you.' He looks at his little soldier declaring its presence just below the restaurant table.
I have died everyday, leaving you behind
Darling, I am afraid, I have loved you for a thousand years
I'll love you for a thousand more
Vince listens to every word that comes out from Yve's mouth. If he will consider this as the chorus, then it's definitely a good one. But another thought comes to mind,
'I love you so much, too.'
