Rutherford chuckled when he saw his daughter's puzzled expressions.
He had already understood the cause of her confusion but just as he had said earlier, he had no problem with her plans for this evening.
"Go ahead and have fun, Vonna." He encouraged her but his kind smile made her all the more curious to discern what he was up to.
The rest of the boys could not decipher the meaning of this odd conversation taking place between the father and child.
Before Yvonne could investigate more about her father's strangely amicable behavior, Howard had tapped her shoulder, reminding her that it would get dark soon.
The little girl glanced at the door where the Sun was still bright and lively outside before glancing at him once again.
Her wordless objection to his claims was ignored by the elder brother who just wished to have some fun with her by his side as he tilted his head, pretending to be oblivious to what she was trying to imply here.
Yvonne shook her head at his acting skills before turning towards their father, trying to make sure that there was truly nothing wrong with him.
However, no matter how she looked at him, Rutherford gazed at her with a gentle smile which was not what she had been expecting.
With Taylor and Howard urging her to come along, the little girl finally nodded at her father, bidding him goodbye before walking away with this small group.
The Earl watched as the children disappeared from his sight and turned around to head towards his Office but not before giving out an order.
'Keep a close watch over them.' He commanded his etcher who must be lazily napping somewhere around this estate.
With Fryght present to protect them, he could focus on his work and thus went on his way after receiving a quick confirmation from the wolfhound.
On the other side of the estate, Yvonne and the group reached the grazing field where they found the other three etchers standing around as well.
Demon had a sullen look on his face but when he caught a whiff of his Master's scent his mood elevated and he hurried to greet her.
"How are you feeling now?" The little girl inquired as she caressed his long face.
Her etcher had shared a part of his aura with her during that sparring match so she wished to know whether he had faced any backlash because of it.
However, it was only Yvonne who had felt excessively tired after the match while Demon was still fine.
"Master, Demon is alright." The horse reassured her, rubbing his cheek against hers.
This gesture made her chuckle as now she was sure that there was nothing wrong with him so she patted his head one last time before moving away.
However, Demon's eyes darkened in the next second as now his eyes fell on the two etchers who had been buzzing around him like bees all along.
Ever since his Master and the rest had returned to the mansion, Fryght and Rouge had wandered around him, following him wherever he went.
Even when he had ignored them and returned to his home that his Master's father had gotten constructed for him, these two etchers had the audacity to trespass in his home without any shame.
Demon disliked others getting into his personal space and the only ones who were allowed to enter were the two Butlers of this Mansion and his Master.
Even the Master's family had never set foot inside that place but today these two etchers had sullied it with their presence.
His Master had introduced Rouge to him today and he already co-existed with Fryght in the same estate.
Therefore, he could only stay on cordial terms with them and not shoo them away which he so desperately wished to do.
Now that his Master had come by, he gazed at her with many grievances in his heart, hoping that she would help him out of this mess.
"What is it?" Yvonne questioned when she noticed the pitiful look on her etcher.
Those standing around them were in awe to see that monstrous etcher displaying expressions of being wronged.
'Who would even mess with him?' Taylor wondered and even shuddered as Demon was one of the scariest beasts he had laid his eyes on.
Even his father's etcher was nowhere as scary as Demon was in his eyes.
Therefore, he wished to eavesdrop on the conversation that was taking place between this pair of etcher and etched through the mental link that they shared.
Unfortunately, neither could Taylor do that nor did he have any clue that one of the perpetrators of this incident was none other than his elder brother's etcher.
Thus he could only stay curious to know what Demon had experienced while they were away.
As Yvonne was listening to her etcher's complaints, her eyes fell on both Rouge and Fryght who were quick to avert their eyes as they knew exactly what they had done.
However, in the next second, her eyes reverted to her etcher and this time it was Demon who had looked away.
Just earlier, Demon had revealed how the other two beasts had tried to hijack his home and even tormented him, stopping only when she and the others had appeared.
This was also why Fryght had accepted his Master's command almost immediately instead of making up some excuse as he would always do following which he would be threatened by his Master and only then would he reluctantly agree.
However, Fryght had not done any of that as he was already around the grazing field where those children were about to arrive at any time.
This was because the two etchers had been around Demon all along.
They followed him everywhere and had one question which they had asked him numerous times until his ears felt like they would fall off but Demon had refused to answer it.
Everything that had taken place, Demon had reported to his Master and after he was done complaining, that little girl had tossed that same question back at him.
'So why don't you just answer it?' She had revealed the solution she had come up with.
However, Demon only looked away, unwilling to answer it even when it was his Master who had asked the same question.
'I cannot answer it…' He rejected in a solemn tone which made the child realize that this was something he did not wish others to know about.
Therefore, she chose not to force the answer out of him and patted his head, accepting his rejection.
'You can tell me whenever you feel like you are ready.' She added in order to lower his guilt about keeping her in the dark.
After all, she too had secrets that Demon knew nothing of so it would be unfair to make it seem like he was going against her for this matter.
Demon was overwhelmed with happiness when he observed no negative emotions coming from his Master after his decision to not reveal anything.
The two etchers had been pestering him, inquiring about his origins, how he had appeared here, and what his true potential was.
While he did not feel obligated to answer their questions, it was a different matter when it came to his Master.
Yet he had requested her to not inquire further about it as it was not yet time for this information to be revealed.
He had not yet gathered the courage to let her know of his true origins and also how he had landed up in his estate.
The last time she had questioned him about this, he had only given her a vague answer which had led her to misunderstand a few aspects of the situation.
However, Demon had no clue and thus had not corrected them, leading her to believe that Demon had fallen prey to the illegal trade of etchers when the truth was something entirely different.
Nevertheless, it was a given that he did not wish to speak to her regarding this matter and was thankful that she had not ordered him to answer.
After all, if she had been adamant then he would be obligated to answer as her etcher.
Thus, he bowed to her and vowed in his heart that when he was ready, he would reveal everything about him and what had taken place in his past.
Yvonne patted his head once again and did not mind his silence but revealed that she was here to go on a ride with him.
Demon's energy rose once again and he nodded his head, eager to wander the woods with her.
"Let us go get you ready.." She smiled while walking ahead with him by her side.
