Chapter 703 - Proving Her Claims

'He wants proof?' Yvonne sneered in her mind after making sure that her thoughts were not reaching him.

Since she could control what was said to Topher and what remained to herself, this was no issue for her.

Therefore, the little girl sat still as she thought of what to do next.

She had just revealed that her precognitive dreams which only popped up after her lesson with the Marquess were the cause of the actions she had taken in the past.

This statement had proven one aspect to Topher and that was the fact that he had been right to suspect Yvonne's awareness of what was to come.

However, now he was asking her to find a way to prove to him that her words held weight and weren't something she had come up with just to appease him.

Sadly, what he did not know was that she had lied to him about the dreams regarding the plague.

It was true that she was sure of its happening but it was not thanks to the dreams as she claimed now but the script she had read.

However, the plague had only been mentioned as a backstory for the female lead, Hilda's character growth, and the remainder of the script was focused on her love story with the Prince.

Therefore, if she were to use the same script to give him some proof then it would be of no use.

After all, there had never been any mention of the Tanner family in Asmodeus's script.

The Bird God focused on the main characters only and others did not get any attention from him.

Due to this reason, Yvonne knew nothing related to him or the Tanner family.

If she wished to prove her claims then she needed something that would be related to him which was impossible since the script had little to no information about him and his family.

'But I do have something which might be useful in this regard.' She recalled a certain memory and her lips curved into a victorious grin.

So what if Asmodeus had not mentioned anything regarding the Tanner family?

She had found something else that was extremely useful after her visit to the Valente fief in the past.

Since her family had reunited with the Valente's, Yvonne did not know how but she would often get dreams depicting 'Yvonne' from the script.

These dreams were a great support to her as they revealed events that weren't mentioned in the script as well.

Therefore, Yvonne decided to make use of this gift she had acquired somehow to extricate herself from the sticky situation she had landed in.

Topher narrowed his eyes when he saw the glow of confidence emitting from her visage.

This incited excitement in him as he wished to know what exactly she could reveal to back up her claims and prove that she was indeed speaking the truth.

It wasn't hard for Yvonne to catch the eagerness written all over his face which made her roll her eyes.

Since he had dropped all pretense of courtesy with her earlier, she too felt no need to be polite with him.

Topher raised his brow but said nothing as he waited for the proof she might have for him.

'Be careful when you break up a brawl in the bar.' Yvonne uttered vague words with a mysterious vibe surrounding her.

The young heir had been expecting something more intense than a bar fight from her so it was undeniable that he was left dissatisfied with her words.

'I'm not an adult so why would I even be in a bar, Miss Yvonne?' He scowled at her, now displaying traces of uncertainty in his eyes.

However, he received no further explanation from the little girl who chose not to answer his reasonable question.

Instead, Yvonne decided to give him another valuable piece of advice that might be of great help to him.

'Remember to look behind you and choose to duck and not dodge.' She smiled once she was done, showing no indication of speaking further.

Topher looked at her as though he was seeing a fool for her words made no sense to him right at this moment.

Yet Yvonne did not correct his present perception of her and ordered Demon to turn around as they had been here for quite some time now.

Her actions implied that she was done with this conversation and Topher could no longer hold her here.

When the other boys saw her etcher turning around, they found Topher to be rooted in the same place, making them wonder if something was wrong.

However, Taylor took the first step to follow after Yvonne who had already begun her journey out of this part of the woods.

The two departing figures made the others rush to keep up with them leaving Topher and his horse alone in the same place.

Finally coming out of his contemplative trance, the heir of the Tanner family frowned as he gazed in the direction that she had left in.

At that very moment, a stuffy feeling arose in his chest and a pricking sensation overwhelmed him.

The image of that little figure seated on that tall horse was growing dim with each passing second that he stood unmoved.

However, for some unknown reason, instead of feeling irked that Yvonne had left without giving him proper answers, Topher's heart ached at the sight of her leaving him.

'Don't…' His subconscious mind had let out a word that had reached the child through their mental link even if that was not what he wished to say at that moment.

Realizing the mistake he had committed, Topher's frown only deepened as he did not know what had taken over him right then.

On the other side, Yvonne had already reached the edge of the little woods when that single word echoed in her mind.

She glanced over her shoulder but found no trace of Topher to be anywhere around.

"He'll be fine, Vonny." Taylor smiled when he noticed her pace slowing down.

In response, she nodded her head and asked Demon to keep going as she had done what she was supposed to do anyway.

Topher had asked for an explanation about her past actions and she had given him a satisfactory one.

As for the proof he demanded, she had given that as well but the only drawback was that he would have to wait for a while before it could be verified.

'Watch your back and remember to duck, Young Master.' She repeated her words of warning once again to the boy who had not followed them back towards the grazing field.

With this, she had completed her duty and what he did with this piece of information, and whether he believed her words or not were none of her concern.

He had pestered her for an answer so it was up to him if he wished to accept it or throw it out of his mind.

'Though I hope he pays heed to my words.' She sighed and shook her head at a certain memory that had come to her mind.

During the time she had spent in the St. Claire fief when the plague was still rampant, her dreams depicting 'Yvonne' and her daily life were a frequent occurrence which she had gotten used to and even looked forward to.

One such dream which she had watched was involving an important event in the life of the Duke's only son.

Since Taylor had died during the plague, Topher had become the only son and also the sole heir of the Tanner family.

The words of warning she had given to him today as proof was regarding an incident in his life that would take place in the near future.

'One which could potentially take his life.' She gulped her saliva as she did not wish for that boy to experience the same events as what she had seen in those dreams.

However, that wasn't the only reason why she had warned him of what might take place and also how to avoid it.

'That incident became the foundation of his love for 'Yvonne' so I should make sure it never takes place in this lifetime!' She clenched her little fingers around the reins of her etcher, determined to avoid that landmine that would toss her into a whole different mess.
