Chapter 707 - Two-faced Brother-in-law

Rutherford had called his child a 'Businesswoman' a word that was not yet used in this world but he found nothing wrong with it.

Calling Yvonne a businesswoman was something that had come naturally after watching her work for a few years now.

Therefore, he did not find it strange that he had just created a title for his child who, after witnessing her hard work and smart mind, deserved it without a doubt.

Rutherford also did not know that the person he had called a 'businesswoman' for the first time in his mind, was in fact, a shrewd and talented businesswoman who had led her company to great heights.

She was a veteran in her world but here, in this new world, she was tagged as a budding talent.

However, Yvonne would soon prove her capabilities and achieve the title of a veteran just like him and her uncle.

Until now, Marcus had been under the impression that they would only be preparing for the distribution of soaps to the other fiefs soon.

That misconception was corrected after hearing that CLOVER was planning to expand into the noble market which came as a pleasant surprise to him.

'Seems to be the right step to take now.' He agreed with her thought process and even let out a brief chuckle.

"Looks like everyone will soon be very busy." He remarked and the little girl gave him a quick now in acceptance.

Yvonne could not deny his words as that was exactly what would take place soon enough.

'That way I can focus on CLOVER while staying out of the public's eyes.' She concluded the plans she had come up with.

To move ahead in what she had decided, the little girl glanced at her father and there was a serious look on her face.

She had something to say to him and hoped that he would agree as that was a crucial step in her plan.

"Papa, I will have to visit the Hagen family to discuss further details about my plan." She disclosed the crux of the matter.

Rutherford had just agreed that her idea of moving into the noble market was a good one.

After all, right now, the amount of attention placed on CLOVER was high thanks to the argument between Viscount Valente and Earl Blaise which the King had personally sorted out.

The King's involvement indicated that he was supporting the new company instead of siding with the Blaise family in this matter.

Therefore, Yvonne was sure that the nobles would soon turn their focus on her company as well.

In fact, the attention on CLOVER could be compared to what Yvonne was receiving due to her involvement in the policies.

'But one is being appreciated and the other is criticized.' She scowled at the hypocrisy of the people of this land.

Both were efforts made by a girl child yet CLOVER was amassing praises for being a generous establishment only because they did not know the true identity of VC, its owner.

If they were to discover that the same child they were criticizing for meddling in matters of great importance was the one who owned CLOVER, would they still praise that company as they were doing right now?

Yvonne already knew the answer to that question as it was a staunch rejection she would face.

Those who were beginning to look at CLOVER in a positive light would also turn away once her identity as VC was revealed.

Therefore, she could only conceal her identity and her association with her company while working to advance it to the next step.

The plan she had made earlier in the afternoon had considered this matter as well after which she had come up with an appropriate solution.

'What better way to stay out of the public's eye than to stay away from the Capital altogether?' She surmised and thus had decided to visit the Hagen family in the Valente fief.

She would be killing two birds with one stone.

Firstly, she would be away from the Capital and her absence could quell any rumors from flying around which she knew were rampant right now.

Lastly, her visit to the Valente fief would not arouse any suspicions as she would be heading to her maternal uncle's estate there.

Once she was safely inside the Valente fief, she could meet the Hagen family and discuss how they would target the noble market next.

"I will return as soon as I come up with a plan on how to venture into this higher market." She added in order to convince her father who had remained silent ever since he heard what she had decided.

The men of the Valente family were overjoyed to hear that this adorable little girl wished to come to their fief and stay with them.

Judging from her words, her duration of stay there was unclear which meant that they could prolong her stay, making her live with them for longer.

The Valente men weren't the only ones who had read between the lines as even Howard and Rutherford had caught on to what her words meant.

Therefore, the elder brother widened his eyes while the father shook his head in an immediate refusal of her plans.

"That cannot happen." Rutherford objected straightaway.

Yvonne's mouth gaped wide open at his conflicting attitude and her brows furrowed to display her disapproval towards his behavior.

"But Papa just agreed that it was time to take the next step, didn't you!?' She retorted while pointing out what he had just said a few moments ago.

"That's right!" Marcus chimed in, nodding his head while also throwing a disgruntled glance at his two-faced brother-in-law.

Rutherford glowered at him before turning his head back towards his child.

"You cannot leave, Vonna!" He declared and there were no signs of weakness on his face that she could exploit to get her way.

However, Yvonne wasn't willing to give up as her plans needed her to be away from the Capital, and what better place than the Valentes where she could get her work done without any troubles?

Therefore, she put on an unhappy expression while chewing on her lower lip, something new that she had learned to torment her father's doting heart.

Looking at the aggrieved look on his daughter's face, Rutherford's heart pricked but he had to stay strong no matter how much he wished to give in to her demands.

'At least for now.' He clenched his fists and resolutely looked away from her lest his determination wavered.

Thus Yvonne's attacks ended up in a steaming heap of failure and all she could do was slump her shoulders in defeat.

'How am I going to escape now?' She grumbled inwardly while sulking just like a child would.

This sight had been caught by the weak-hearted father who was stealing a glimpse at her.

Not able to stop himself, Rutherford let out a deep exasperated sigh before rubbing his forehead.

"We can visit them for your birthday." He gave in to her demands though this time it had taken longer than expected.

The twins and Marcus had been sitting in silence with their glares directed at the Earl but as soon as they heard his words of acquiescence, their anger transformed into excitement and joy.

His words were easy to decipher and now they were ecstatic that it was not just Yvonne who would be visiting them but the entire family would be heading for the Valente fief this summer.

Yvonne was also overjoyed that her tactics had not lost their charm.

'Papa can never refuse me!' She giggled, happiness and amusement written all over her face.

Her birthday, which was in the midst of the summer season, would be here in no time.

Therefore, she would just have to stay indoors until then and avoid meeting anyone outside who might bring any more attention to her than what was already on her.

Rutherford scanned the room and saw happy faces who were pleased with the decision he had just made on an impulse.

'Ray will get mad at me now.' He recalled the discussion he had with his wife after lunch but looking at the genuine joy on their faces, he knew that he had made the right choice for his children.

Thus the Earl would have to face his wife's anger when he would break the news of their sudden visit to the Valente fief after a few weeks which had not been a part of their plans.
