While Trisha and Raylene were trying to figure out where that former maid could have disappeared to, that same maid was busy in some other place.
What they did not know was that she was neither in the Capital and nor was she in the Valente fief.
She was now in a whole other fief and was living a blissful life, much better than the one she experienced back when she was serving the Countess of the St. Claire fief.
The lady they had been talking about was laying on the bed, languid and carefree right at this very moment.
'If I had known that life would be this good here then I would have chosen this man much earlier.' Paula smirked as she glanced at her pretty nails which were often chipped in the past due to the hard labor her former Mistress used to demand of her.
What Paula was labeling as 'hard labor' was in fact the easiest task that Raylene would hand over to her.
The worst she had even done was carrying tubs of warm water from the kitchen over to the bedroom.
However, to Paula, that was something unacceptable after living under the protection of the Countess and being pampered by her due to their childhood relationship.
Now that she was free from such tasks, she was more than satisfied with her way of life right now.
At first, she grimaced at the suffering she endured back then but soon reminded herself that those events were a thing of the past after which her lips curved into a smirk.
'I can't wait to meet them again.' She snickered as the time for her to head back to the Capital was near and she could not wait to see the look on their faces.
The Mistress who mistreated her and tried to suppress her, the Master who did not appreciate the love she had to give, and even those children she had served but had not bothered to give her a second glance.
Finally, Paula's eyes glinted with hatred at the two maids and the old butler who had witnessed her humiliation back then and even had the audacity to look at her with blatant disgust written all over their faces.
'I will show them who is living a better life now!' She vowed to avenge the pain and humiliation she suffered on the day she was so ruthlessly kicked out of the St. Claire mansion after the years of service she had given them.
Getting off her soft and luxurious bed which the Master had prepared for her in order to make her stay comfortable, Paula stretched her body and twisted her waist before heading towards the door.
The Master had gone back to the Capital for official reasons, leaving her and a few other maids in this mansion so they were not too busy at this moment.
However, even if he was here, he would not ask her to work too hard as he needed her to retain her energy for their time together in the night.
Thinking of the nights she often spent with him, her lips curved into a smirk as she now had him wrapped around her little finger.
'But, I'm not the only one…' Her victorious grin faded when this disheartening thought popped up into her mind.
She was just another one in the list of women who served the Master and to make matters worse, she was the newest, which implied that there were many who stood above her and had a better relationship with him.
However, Paula was determined to strengthen her position in this household.
'And who knows, I might even take over it soon enough.' She snickered, aiming high to secure her future in this household where she desired to stand next to the Master with her head held high.
Sadly, what Paula did not know was that even if she bewitched her Master enough to make him fall for her, there was no way that she could take the place of the legal wife.
No sensible nobleman would leave his wife of noble descent and marry a commoner maid who served their family.
While there had been instances in the past where noblemen had taken commoners as their spouses on account of true love which knew no barriers, no one had ever married a servant who worked in their household in the past.
Even if Paula's Master were to set an example for others by doing so, he would become a joke in their society so all he could do was keep her by his side in the shadows while remaining married to the wife he currently had.
Ignorant to these realities of life and delusional as ever, Paula was driven by pure motivation as she headed outside her room.
Since the Master was in the Capital right now with his wife and children, she could only go to the next person with influence inside this mansion.
'That woman is so easy to handle.' She sneered at the other woman most favored by the Master, who was also her target for the present.
Thus with such ambitious thoughts in her mind, Paula headed towards her target in order to build up a better relationship with her and learn more about her competition.
After all, Paula was a strong believer of the strategy, 'Know your enemy,' which she planned on using against the people who stood in her way.
Thus with determination to accomplish her goals, she stepped ahead towards her destination.

Hilda had spent the entire day yesterday recalling everything she could about her past.
Time had turned back for her, returning her to a past which she had already experienced before.
The past where she had to endure numerous sufferings in order to find her happiness.
However, that happiness was short-lived as she could not even enjoy her married life and old age with her loving husband.
She had just returned to the Palace after visiting the grave of an old acquaintance when she had lost consciousness before opening her eyes in that dark and dirty alley.
Certain things were different from the memories she retained but nothing that could make her worry for her future.
It took the young girl some time to grasp what had happened and once she had managed to do so, she focused on how to solve the problems present before her.
Therefore, after waking up, Hilda had urged her mind to calm down before trying to figure out a way to steer clear from the pains she experienced in the past.
The miserable past she experienced had not yet taken place, giving her the golden opportunity to shield herself from them this time around.
Thus after an entire day's worth of pondering on what her next move should be, she had finally reached a conclusion.
Her initial plans of returning to the Lumex fief where her parents' Cozy Inn was located had now been discarded entirely.
After all, in the past, she had focused on the same decision she had made after the death of her parents.
Hilda quickly reminded herself that they were her adoptive parents before recalling the past once again.
Due to that single decision, she had struggled to move from town to town in her relentless endeavor of returning to the Lumex fief.
'Look where that landed me.' She scoffed while glancing at the dirty clothes she was wearing right now.
Her money had been stolen and she was even roughed up by those bullies, similar to what had taken place in the past.
However, there was a major change from her life in the past which she could use to her advantage.
She knew exactly what happened next and was now determined not to follow the same sorry trajectory of the past.
She would no longer repeat the mistakes she had made back then.
Hilda did not know why but she had somehow returned to the past right at the beginning of her miseries, however, she now had two paths before her.
She could either wallow in self-pity and cry her eyes out until she collapsed or she could use this opportunity to create a path for herself that led her straight to her beloved husband.
It did not take Hilda much time to decide which path she would prefer.
After all, only one of them led her into the arms of her beloved so that was the one she resolutely chose.
