Rutherford was conversing with Marquess Leopold so Yvonne was taking this chance to be in the presence of one among the successful businessmen in Rosenhyde.
Of course, her father held the top position but in the past, the old man from the Leopold family was the one in that seat.
Therefore, for someone which immense experience and also talent, Yvonne was appreciating her luck to have met him today.
On the other hand, the old man was also observing the child before him.
Other children he had met today had forgotten who he was due to his inactivity in social events.
He was always roaming around the Kingdom and even visiting other kingdoms and thus never had the time to attend parties such as this one he had come for today.
Therefore, it was understandable that the children from the younger generations did not know who he was.
However, this child before him was different as she had not only greeted him before her parents had prompted her to do so but she was also behaving in an unexpected way.
After people heard about his true identity as the owner of the Leopold family businesses, a trace of astonishment would pass through their eyes.
Having lived for such a long time, it was easy for him to discern what their expressions truly meant.
For most, it would be the desire to utilize this opportunity that had fallen into the palm of their hands to establish some sort of connection with him who could then be of use to them in some way or the other.
If that wasn't the case then there would be greed in their eyes, yearning to curry favor with him so that they might obtain some special privileges from him.
In either case, he disliked people who attempted to get closer to him with ulterior motives in his mind.
Therefore, when he saw the St. Claire family heading towards them, he had wondered how they would react.
He had met the Countess back when she was just a baby so it was obvious that she would not recall who he was.
However, she had greeted him courteously which had formed a pleasant impression in his mind.
As for the Earl, they had met several times and every time, it was curt yet respectful.
Therefore, he had no issues with either of them but wondered how the child would behave.
Contrary to what he had been hearing about her from his grandchild, the daughter of the St. Claire family was neither eager to please him nor was she haughty and disrespectful.
In fact, the old man sensed no greed or desire in her eyes.
Instead, the admiration emanating from her was quite obvious for anyone to see which had surprised him.
What could there be worth admiring in an old man like him was what he had been trying to discern.
However, the child's odd reaction was understandable to the parents as they knew what her true goal in life was.
To become a 'businesswoman' was strange and unheard of to the outsiders but to those who were close to Yvonne, they were aware of the hard work she was putting into achieving this goal.
Therefore, when they saw her enthusiastic expressions, Rutherford sulked inwardly as she had never looked at him in that way while Raylene smiled at the bright and energetic eyes of her child who had been gloomy all the way here.
'I hope she keeps enjoying this day.' The mother prayed for her daughter's happiness.
In the meantime, the old man had been observing her, trying to figure out if she was just as horrible as his granddaughter had portrayed her to be.
"I have heard a lot about you, Young Miss." He mentioned with a slight hint of sarcasm in his voice to judge how she reacted.
Yvonne did not expect this tone but did not let her surprise appear on her face.
"I have learned a lot about the Lord as well." She replied with a gentle smile which made the others assume that she had not understood the hidden meaning behind his words.
However, Yvonne was happy to have met such a successful businessman today and did not wish to dampen her mood just yet.
'And I think I know the cause of his animosity.' She surmised after recalling what Elna had whispered to her grandfather earlier.
Since she knew that Elna would not have anything good to say about her, she did not take his words to her heart.
'Just because I admire his work ethic and past efforts doesn't mean that he should like me too.' She noted her thoughts in this regard.
If he continued to behave in a rude way towards her on account of the one-sided narrations of his grandchild then Yvonne could only stay away from the pair who held hostility towards her.
She did not wish to waste her time in trying to change his mind about her so all she could do was move on.
After all, people often said that one should not meet their idols as there was a high chance that their true personality would ruin their illusion about them.
Thus, Yvonne had remained respectful towards him even after what he had said.
Marquess Leopold was stunned to see his father react in this way while his wife was smirking on the inside as she too disliked that child just as much as Elna did.
Her daughter had always told her about Miss St. Claire's unacceptable behavior so right now, she was hoping to see her father-in-law teach her a much-needed lesson.
Rutherford was now staring at the older man he respected with a slight anger brewing in his eyes while Raylene's smile had faded and she was now pursing her lips.
The old man did not care about the looks he had gained but his eyes were fixed on the child.
He was expecting to see her flustered appearance or even one where she pretended to be pitiful to gain the sympathy of those nearby.
However, she had done something else entirely which had once again stunned him.
"You said you learned about me?" He inquired as his eyes narrowed close together.
Yvonne gave him a positive reply through her nod which now brought a confused frown on his face.
What reason could the child have to learn about him and where could she have done so?
His eyes then turned towards the Earl, wondering if he was the one who had taught his daughter about him.
However, Rutherford was quick to shake his head in rejection as he had never done anything of that sort.
"Lord Jonah Leopold, the previous Marquess of the Leopold fief and also the founder of the family's jewels business. A famous figure that people who aspired to be businessman looked up to." Yvonne revealed exactly what she knew about the man she was standing before.
The attention of those who were looking at either the Earl or the old man had now shifted towards the child who was shorter than everyone present in that small group.
"My classes with Marquess Samed sometimes touch upon various topics." She explained how she had come across his information.
This made even the nearby people who were listening in on their conversation nod their heads in understanding.
After all, numerous times in the past the Marquess had boasted about the brilliant mind of his prized pupil, Yvonne St. Claire.
Therefore, even if they found it odd that she was learning this topic, they did not doubt her words.
'Though I was the one who asked him to include lessons about Rosenhyde's economy and the pillars of that economy.' She decided to keep the other half of the truth to herself.
The old man glanced at his grandchild, seeking her confirmation in this matter.
Marquess Samed tutored Elna as well but the days they studied together were too few and he would only pass along notes to her and her other tutors would oversee her study period.
Therefore, even if she wanted to, she could not refute those words as she had no way of knowing the truth.
Not to mention that the Marquess was also at this party and to be found fabricating the truth was not something her grandfather would tolerate.
Thus she only shook her head to indicate that she had no clue if this was something that the other child was supposed to be learning in the first place.
'Once again you stole everyone's attention!' Elna clenched his fists while glaring at the child standing before her.
Even her grandfather was now looking at her with astonishment which was only causing Elna's anger to rise.
