It was Marquess Kiron whose voice Yvonne had heard and to find Jacob nodding at her only intensified the ominous feeling she was experiencing right now.
The Kiron couple was seated with her parents, her uncle, and aunt but the man who just spoke was in fact, turning in the direction of another table as he had said those words.
Yvonne too looked in the same direction and found that it was Minister Cosmet Leopold who was the other party in this conversation.
This was enough to confirm the suspicion that they were discussing something related to her.
To further clarify this doubt, she focused her attention on them which allowed her to hear everything that was being said.
From where she had begun listening in on their conversation, it was clear to deduce that they were discussing something she had done in the past.
The incident in the past where she had suggested constructing storage houses to become self-sufficient in times of need to those she was close to was being mentioned right now.
Marquess Samed, Duke Tanner, her father, uncle, Viscount Zavanth, and finally, Marquess Kiron were the only ones who had obtained this advice from her.
The Zavanth family wasn't in the Capital and the rest would not have revealed this information to any outsider.
The only one left was Marquess Kiron who could have disclosed this piece of vital information to those around him.
Yvonne had only given that suggestion to Jacob in passing but he was a smart young man and had taken her words seriously before discussing them with his father.
Back then, he had not announced that it was she who had helped him out but after everything that was taking place ever since they visited the Palace, Jacob found that it was the right thing to do.
Thus he had mentioned to his father that Yvonne St. Claire was the one who had helped him figure out the solution to the issue their fief could have faced in times of need.
None had expected the plague to terrorize their Kingdom so Marquess Kiron was even more impressed with his son and that child upon hearing this news.
He was present when Earl Rutherford had revealed that his daughter was the mastermind behind quite a few changes being made in their fief.
However, he had not known that he too had used one of those strategies to strengthen his Kiron fief.
Only after Jacob's reminder did he realize what had taken place.
Thus today he had mentioned it to Cosmet Leopold, a fellow minister of the King who was also aware of the child's brilliance.
The three ministers who were working under the instructions of the King had discussed her contributions in private as well and had disclosed this matter before the others on purpose as that was what their King desired.
Marquess Kiron's revelation had once again brought Yvonne into the limelight and many were now sneaking peeks at her.
She could sense their eyes but did not panic or feel flustered, after all, now that things were out in the open, she had no way of refuting those claims.
However, she did not wish to gain their ire as that would only bring her more worries which was not something she needed.
Thus, she lowered her head and pretended to not have heard anything, continuing to eat the snacks placed on her plate.
Damien had been observing her and had also seen how she had acted oblivious right now but did not expose her.
Elna's grandfather, Jonah Leopold was seated with Minister Cosmet Leopold who happened to be the son of his cousin.
Therefore, he was able to hear everything being said right now.
His eyes once again softened as he glanced in the direction of that child but no one had noticed this warmth in his gaze as they were too busy in their thoughts about what they had just heard.
There was also the Carter family who wasn't present on the day of the Palace visit and hence had not formed a strong opinion about this matter.
Everything they had learned was from their family member who had attended the King's lunch banquet.
Thus they were neither too pleased with nor too annoyed with the daughter of the St. Claire family.
After all, their patriarch, Minister Carter was singing praises about that child so they did not dare to speak a word against her.
Marchioness Yona was silent in her seat but there were obvious signs of dissatisfaction written all over her face.
First, her daughter had faced such an infuriating incident and even the Duchess had gone against the traditions of their society.
Now there was talk about the child who should have just sat still at home and left the matters of importance to the adults.
Therefore, it was clear that she was not too pleased with this kind of situation.
At the same time, she was mindful enough to understand that she had already caused trouble earlier, hence did not dare to speak up again as that might ruin her good reputation.
Duke Tanner had broken his silence and disclosed that even the Tanner fief had benefited from the child's advice during the plague.
"What about you, Marquess Samed?" Old man Carter inquired of his immediate neighbor.
The old man was sure that the child must have given the same suggestion to her family and relatives so he was wondering if even her tutor was included in that list.
Marquess Samed had been walking on eggshells ever since he had faced his prized pupil's wrath so he gulped when he heard this query.
Yvonne had given him instructions on what to do if there was ever a time where she would feel uncomfortable at such parties.
{Announce that you have something to discuss with me and take me away from that place.}
This was the plan she had come up with for times of emergency.
However, Marquess did not know whether this situation counted as an emergency.
His eyes flitted in the direction of that child and when he found her to be relishing a slice of apple tart, he knew that she was fine.
After all, right now, the adults were discussing her matters in a civil manner and she was not being implicated in any way.
The other adults had just assumed that since her table was at a distance away from theirs, there was no way that she could overhear what they were saying.
Marquess Samed knew better than to have that false sense of security.
That girl had awakened her powers and was even able to manifest her aura so it was obvious that her sharp sense of hearing allowed her to pay attention to their conversation.
Despite being able to hear them, she had not reacted which suggested that she was fine with just this much.
Therefore, Marquess Samed did not carry out the plan they had agreed on and instead, gave the old man next to him a positive reply.
"We were discussing the lesson about disaster relief when she thought of that method." He answered honestly, making the others nod at this revelation.
Yvonne was once again famous but she pretended to be oblivious and had no intentions of joining that conversation.
Ever since she had realized what the King was thinking of, she knew that sooner or later, more information about her efforts from the past would be leaked out.
Her aim wasn't to negate these claims but to stay away from the limelight and also the troubles that might accompany it.
The attitude of the people had not turned hostile towards her or at least, they pretended to be alright with what they were hearing on the surface.
Regardless of which one it was, Yvonne was just glad that she was not being criticized openly.
This outcome was also due to the reason that certain families had been unable to attend this party for various reasons.
One was the Blaise who would have made it a point to put down the St. Claire family at all costs.
Among those present, the Carter family were silent on account of their patriarch, Minister Syrac Carter, and also the Brodie family.
If Duke Brodie had expressed his disapproval towards what was happening then they would have followed in the Duke's footsteps.
However, the Duke was silent throughout today's tea party and had not uttered a single word of objection which caused the Carter family to act accordingly.
On the other hand, the Yona family did not wish to get on the Tanner family's bad side and remained silent for now.
Finally, the Leopold family deemed themselves to be too high to even care about the child of an Earl's family.
If only they learned what was in the heart of their patriarch, would they continue to behave this way or would they also change their minds?
