Chapter 249. The fight scenes (1)
The staff and crew of «Slayers» had already reached Hongdian, the city known as the film and television city in China.
There was a big movie studio in the city with various tourist attractions like parks and old movie sets.
It was the first time Ren was visiting Hongdian but he had already visited this city in his previous life but he was still surprised when he reached the city.
It was because of the abundant and various filming facilities.
The more diverse the filming venues were, the more vast the film and television area.
This film and Television City was prosperous and it also made it more convenient with the filming for the crew.
This was Ren's first time coming to Hongdian in this life but Hou Qian and Tang Lan had long been here for filming countless dramas before.
Everyone quickly got used to the atmosphere of filming here and the progress quickly advanced by leaps and bounds.
Early in the morning, Ren had already got up a long time ago and took advantage of the still lightening sky to head over to the crew to start getting his makeup done.
He was acting in the first scene today so he had to get up early.
"Your skin is somewhat rougher than the other celebrities. It looks like you don't take care of it much."
The makeup artist said as she applied some foundation on Ren's face while he made a wry smile.
"Yeah, he is one of those rare actors who don't like makeup at all."
From the side, Li Xinru said with a smug smile on her face. She was also applying makeup on her face as her scene was the next one after Ren.
"I just don't like sitting for hours just applying makeup."
"You should have got used to it by now."
"I don't think I can get used to it."
Li Xinru laughed when she heard that.
Her mood was still down when they had boarded the flight to Hongdian. It was because of her losing the best supporting actress award.
Moreover, she was also feeling saddened by the fact that Xiao Rin, a new and young actress had won the best actress award but even after trying for years, she wasn't able to win the best supporting actress award.
Ren had consoled her a bit and now, she was again acting normal. Li Xinru was not the type to be sad for a long time ago anyway.
Aside from Ren and Li Xinru, Tang Lan had also lost the award but she was normal.
It was because of the experience she had acc.u.mulated while working. She had already got used to winning and losing in the award shows.
Even if she was feeling sad about it, she would surely try to hide it from the other people.
After the makeup was done, Ren left the room and headed towards Director Chen Pu.
Director Chen Pu was talking with the action director of the drama. The action director was an old man who had already been working with Director Chen Pu for 20 years.
"Oh, Ren, your makeup is done nicely. We were just discussing the scene."
Director Chen Pu greeted him warmly once he saw him coming up to them.
"Have you prepared for the scene?"
The action director asked him as he looked over Ren from head to toe.
'Will he be able to do the action scenes?'
The action director thought in his mind. He had earlier heard from Director Chen Pu that Ren was learning swordsmanship in a dojo.
But he was not sure if he would be able to do the action scenes himself or not.
Fighting scenes are the most important and integral part of «Slayers». The action director had been working on it for over a year.
Especially the fight scenes that featured Cao Xu.
Cao Xu was the best swordsman in the whole drama and his technique was flawless. Only the main character can rival him and that was only because of the main character's supernatural power.
The action director doesn't want someone who had just started learning swordsmanship to ruin them.
But he was also not trying to judge so early because Director Chen Pu had vouched for the actor to do the fight scenes himself.
"I have prepared for them as per the instructions I got."
Ren said calmly without any shred of nervousness. It was because he had thoroughly gone through the fight scene several times.
The fight scene will take place between Cao Xu and one of the generals of the Liang empire army.
The scenario will go like this.
Before the fight, people would have already discovered that Cao Xu wasn't just a wastrel.
To make the general his subordinate, he would make a bet with him. Cao Xu would become his servant if he won the bet but if he lost the bet, the general would become his servant.
The general had accepted the bet thinking that he would be able to easily defeat him.
He wanted the honour and the prestige he would get after making a prince his servant.
As Cao Xu was the illegitimate child, not even the emperor cared about him. So, he wasn't afraid of the punishment he would get by daring to make a prince his servant.
In the end, Cao Xu would win the bet and the general would become his servant.
That was the gist of it!
The character of the general would be played by a second tier actor. He was chosen for this role just because he was well proficient in martial arts.
He also had a sturdy build making him the best person to play this role.
It would be interesting to see if Ren can fight evenly with him.
This scene was also his first action scene, so if Ren can't do well in it, then the rest of the fight scenes will be done by a stuntman.
'Will he be able to do it or not?'
That was the question inside the mind of the action director.
* * *
Inside a small room, Lily was arranging the song called 'I will be with you'.
It was the same song she had played in front of Ren and Professor Che Shu. It was also the same song Ren had agreed to feature in.
Just because of that, she was rearranging the song for days now. She can't slack on this, especially because it can give her band major popularity.
Her band will get major popularity and interest just because a big celebrity like Ren was going to feature in it.
It was a chance that can change her band's destiny.
With expectations also came the pressure and fear. There was a lot of pressure on her shoulders and a lingering fear about what if the song failed?
It was not a nice feeling but it was also motivating her to work harder.
"The drums will go on after the third verse, the beat should be light here, the guitar chord should be different here...."
Like that, Lily kept working on the song.
