Chapter 277. Ending (3)

"It was a small role, but it was the first time I worked this hard to prepare for a role. Moreover, I had gotten a role after 5 months, so you can say I was desperate."

Hou Qian said with a smile on his face. He glanced at Ren, who looked to be in some sort of thought and continued.

"One more thing is that even though «Pet city» flopped badly, a director still managed to see my potential in those 10 minutes and casted me as one of the major supporting roles in his next movie that went on to become a hit. «Pet city» is really memorable for me because of that."

Hou Qian didn't belong to a rich family nor did he have connections when he started acting. It was his desperate struggle and talent that made him the heavenly king.

In some ways, he was the same as the previous Ren.

'The only difference is that I failed despite struggling.'

Ren thought and smiled bitterly.

He thought back to his previous life and the auditions he gave for movies and dramas. He never became big despite struggling in the industry for years.

But at least, it was different this time.

"Your journey must be hard."

Ren came back from his thoughts and stared at Hou Qian who nodded his head in response.

"Yeah it was definitely hard, but I don't know if you would understand it. You were lucky to get early success."

Hou Qian didn't mean anything bad in that sentence. He was just saying the truth, but Ren laughed hearing it.

He wondered how Hou Qian would react If he told him his true story that no one in the world knew, but that thought ended in his mind.

Ren knew very well that no one would believe him If he talked about his regression.

"Why are you laughing?"

Hou Qian asked with a curious expression, but Ren just shook his head.

"I just thought of something. By the way, what was your role in «Pet city»?"

As a movie enthusiast, Ren surely wanted to watch «Pet city», especially after hearing all this. At the same time, he felt curious about Hou Qian's role in it.

But instead of answering it, Hou Qian smiled and replied.

"Well, why don't you just watch the movie to know about it too?"

"Ah, sure."

"Don't fall asleep while watching it. It's a pretty bad movie."

Ren laughed hearing that and shook his head slowly. Then, he opened his mouth.

"Don't worry, I have all types of movies. That includes many bad movies too. So, I don't think that would happen."

Ren was always interested in movies, so during high school, he even used to watch 5-6 movies everyday. That also includes really bad movies and independent movies too.

"I wonder how you will like it."

Hou Qian waved his hand and stood up after saying that. He was in the starting scene today, so he needed to do his makeup and wear his costume.

'I got something to watch tonight.'

Ren thought and started reading the screenplay again while anticipating «Pet city» in his heart.

'In his every song, there's something similar, but it's also unique from different rock songs.'

In the recording studio of Professor Che Shu, Lily was quietly listening to everyone of Guan Zhou's songs.

She was trying to learn something from the person who was once known as the Rock king. It was sad that the person himself had died, but his music was still alive.

'Click!'

As Lily was analysing Guan Zhou's songs, the door to the recording studio suddenly opened and Professor Che Shu came in.

He was looking tired as he had just finished his lectures, but Lily kept listening to the song that was flowing through her headphones.

She was too engrossed to notice the professor.

Professor Che Shu also didn't say anything and put down his coat on the sofa. Then, he started preparing some coffee for himself.

"You are still listening to his songs?"

While the coffee was being made, he glanced at Lily who was writing something on a paper and opened his mouth.

But Lily didn't reply back.

'Is it because she's listening to a song?'

Professor Che Shu thought and walked towards Lily. Then, he tapped her on the shoulders, but there was still no response.

He tapped her shoulders a few times more, but there was still no response.

"This kid would never change..."

After getting tired of tapping her shoulders, Professor Che Shu muttered that with slight frustration and directly smacked her head with a fist.

"Aghhh... What the...?!"

A loud groan leaked out of Lily's mouth when she felt a sharp pain on her head. She quickly turned back, only to see Professor Che Shu standing there with a glare.

"Professor, when did you come back?"

"Five minutes ago, but you were too busy to notice me."

Lily quickly shook her head hearing that. She put on a careless expression on her face and opened her mouth.

"It's just that the music was too loud for me to hear the sound of the door opening, but Professor, you shouldn't hit a lady like me. It's not good manners!"

She made an expression like she was wronged, but Professor Che Shu just frowned and pointed his fingers on the floor.

"I don't want to hear about manners from someone like you."

Packets of potato ch.i.p.s and bottles of cold drinks were sprawled across the floor. The floor was messy and Professor Che Shu didn't even want to comment about the whole room.

"Hehe, Professor, I will clean it up soon."

Lily said, quickly making an excuse, but Professor Che Shu wasn't willing to listen to her this time.

"You are saying that for three days now. I let you live in the recording studio, so that you can better work on the songs for the mini album, but don't you think you should at least try to not make a mess out of this place."

Three days ago, Lily had come to Professor Che Shu, asking him to let her stay here as she would be able to concentrate better here.

He has also agreed as Lily was his student and her current project can even change Lily's and her band's whole life.

But he hasn't expected that Lily would be this careless.

"I'm really sorry! I promise I will clean it up today."

Lily said with a serious face and Professor Che Shu's expression finally eased. He glanced at the notes Lily was making and asked.

"How is it going with composing? Did you learn something from Guan Zhou's songs?"

"Well, there were many things to learn from his songs and I did make some progress, but I think I'm still missing something."

Lily made a troubled expression and said.

She had made some samples after getting inspired from Guan Zhou's songs, but compared to his songs, Lily's songs were really weak.

That's why she felt that she was still missing something.

"Well, it's not like you can entirely recreate the essence of Guan Zhou's songs. The only thing you can do it to learn from them and try to create something similar."

"I know that, but i won't be satisfied that way..."

Lily frowned saying that. She wanted to make the best rock songs and anything sub-par was just not good enough.

Professor Che Shu also fell into thoughts hearing it. He wondered what Lily could do here and after a while, an idea suddenly came up in his mind.
