Chapter 288. Return to Beijing (1)
"10% ratings? It looks like Ren has drunk a lot today. In today's world, 10% ratings is just a pipe dream."
"Yeah, his expectations are really too high."
"Well, «The stars above» and «Heirs» did cross 3% ratings despite them being romantic comedies, so maybe there's a chance for us to cross 10% too."
Someone who looked to be quite drunk said, but everyone quickly retorted him.
"Ah, no way, it would cross 10%!"
"Yeah, 5% is enough. I don't think it can cross even 6% ratings after all we are talking about the countrywide ratings."
"Yeah, there are some idol dramas airing at the same time. They would at least get some ratings as the actors are popular."
Everyone gave their own opinions on this topic. They chatted excitedly, but no one agreed that «Slayers» could cross 10% ratings.
There was even someone who said that he would run on the streets n.a.k.e.d if the ratings really cross that much. Everyone took it as a joke, but only Ren knows that it would happen.
He wondered if that actor would really run on the streets n.a.k.e.d or not, but he shook his head in the end.
'They are just taking it as a joke.'
Ren thought while sighing, but he couldn't do anything about it. If he didn't know the future, he would also not believe that a drama can cross 10% ratings.
He just decided to enjoy the party, thinking about everyone's reaction when the ratings would really cross 10%. As he was thinking about that, Director Chen Pu came over to the table.
"What are you all discussing about?"
He asked and looked over the actors and actresses. One of the old actors answered him quickly.
"Ren just said that he believes that the ratings of our drama can cross 10%."
"Yeah, we were just talking about it."
Another young actress who played the role of a maid added.
"10%?!"
Director Chen Pu exclaimed hearing that. He glanced at Ren, like he was asking if he really said that and Ren nodded his head, noticing his gaze.
'It might be possible in the past, but now... it seems hard.'
Director Chen Pu thought about it.
It was not like he had no confidence in his work, but times have really changed. Most people like to bing watch the drama and many also just watch the episode on the internet later.
People are mostly busy and very few would take time out to watch a drama on their television screens.
"Director Chen, do you think the ratings can truly cross 10%?"
Tang Lan suddenly asked him with a raised eyebrow. She was curious to know what Director Chen Pu think about it.
"Well, I can't say for sure, but let's hope that it crosses 10%."
Director Chen Pu said casually and the topic ended soon after that.
The actors started to discuss about other things like 'who would sweep up the commercials this year' and 'who is dating who?'.
The party kept going on like that and Ren just watched everyone discussing various things and he would add some things from time to time.
You can say he wasn't much enthusiastic, but it was just how he was. Maybe, he was mentally old, but Ren didn't have much interest in parties or get togethers.
That's why, even after receiving an invitation, he won't go to celebrity parties.

At the same time, in Beijing, someone was nervously sitting in a still motion.
She was Lily, who was staring at Professor Che Shu with anxiousness on her face.
The reason behind her being anxious was because she was showing her completed samples to the Professor.
'Will he like them...?'
The last time she had shown a sample to him, Professor Che Shu had displayed a dissapointed expression and told her that it was bad.
Maybe, because of that, she was feeling more nervous.
Thoughts like she should have changed some things, she should have worked harder, or change some beats, stormed through her mind, but she didn't dare to say a word out loud.
Lily didn't wanted to disturb Professor Che Shu and after a while, he finally opened his mouth to give his judgement.
"I listened to all of the songs."
"H-how are they?"
Lily gulped after asking and Professor Che Shu put his hand on his chin. Then, he formed all the words inside his mind and said.
"They are... good."
"Ah? They are good? Really?"
Professor Che Shu nodded his head when Lily asked repeatedly.
He really felt that the songs were good. They were just guide versions, but all of them were way better than the first sample Lily had shown him.
He had no complaints about it.
"Your composing skills improved a lot and the versatility can easily be shown. Some of them are good on ears while some of them can easily become a big hit. You worked hard!"
"T-thank you."
Lily still wasn't able to believe that Professor Che Shu had liked her songs. Her face became slightly red because of all the excitement.
She thought that she had finally accomplished it, but Professor Che Shu's next worse calmed her excitement down.
"Your songs are good, but don't get too excited! It's just the beginning for you. Top entertainment needs to approve the song first and they are just samples currently, not the final product."
Those words were enough to make her serious.
Top entertainment's A&R team needed to approve those songs and after that, they would need a producer, lyricist etc.
It was just a small start and there was no need to become this excited - That's what Professor Che Shu was trying to tell her and Lily also understood that.
They talked about it for a while, before Professor Che Shu changed the topic to Ren.
"I had heard that Ren would come back after finishing her shooting tomorrow."
"Ah, then, the recording would begin soon."
Lily said, but Professor Che Shu shook his head. There was no way they can start the recording so soon as they needed to plan the whole album out fast.
Moreover, there was not just that issue.
"They would probably try to release this album after Ren's new drama would finish airing. So, there's a lot of time before that. Anyway, Ren needs to go through a lot of training for this album."
"Training?"
Lily tilted her head and asked.
"Yeah, Ren isn't a professional singer. His singing girls aren't that good and it somehow worked during «A born star», but rock music is different. He needs to prepare a hell lot to sing rock songs perfectly."
