Chapter 28

(Morning)

Yang Chen woke up rather late, as when he was heading downstairs for breakfast, he saw Ruoxi sitting on the sofa watching the morning news.

Ruoxi seeing Yang Chen come downstairs was about to say something to him, when the news program on TV made her stay silent.

The morning news was in the segment for Zhonghai's local news, and the title of the piece was "Terrifying bank robbery re-emerges and an influential person from the Zeng family found dead in his house!"

The news showed the bank vault destroyed from explosives and how the people and staff were injured. The image then changed to people blaming this on the police and how they were responsible for not stopping them for the second time. Cai Yan was also showed since she was the police Bureau Chief and how she took full responsibility for not stopping the bank robbers on time. This was last night's recording but the news program decided to air it this morning.

Ruoxi seeing this got worried for her close friend and was about to call her on the phone, but then the next piece of article on the news made her completely shocked.

Yang Chen who was at the table was getting served a bowl of food by Wang Ma when he was also watching the recent bank robberies on TV.

His company had recently purchased a bank and had improved the security and made it nearly impossible to get to the safe with his technology.

'I need to do an inspection soon, to check if there would be any problems that need to be handled.' Thought Yang Chen as he took a bite of the food.

The news reporter on the TV had a solemn face as he said, "Also on the news, the man named Zeng Xinlin of the Zeng family from Beijing, recently passed away last night from a sudden heart attack. His family that is mourning their loss are shocked and confused at how a perfectly healthy young man can suddenly die from a heart attack. The head of the Zeng family is outraged and spoke that this was a planned murder and he will not let this matter go..."

"Young Miss..."

Ruoxi wasn't particularly sad about Zeng Xinlin's death, she was just shocked that he died so suddenly.

Suddenly the doorbell rang and Wang Ma went to go open the door.

"Miss Cai..." Wang Ma was surprised to see Cai Yan at the door especially since she was wearing her police uniform.

Cai Yan had a solemn face and had some dark circles under her eyes, but still smiled gently.

"Hi Wang Ma, can I speak to Ruoxi?"

"Of course, please come in. She's in the living room right now."

Wang Ma and Cai Yan headed inside, toward the living room.

Ruoxi seeing Cai Yan enter with Wang Ma was surprised since she didn't know why she came.

"YanYan, I was about to call you right now. I saw the news, are you alright?" Although she was very worried, Ruoxi's character made her question sound very monotonous.

Cai Yan wasn't bothered by her character since she's known Ruoxi for years. She then smiled gently and nodded before her solemn face resurfaced again.

"Ruoxi, I'm actually here to discuss the death of Zeng Xinlin."

Ruoxi became startled before she asked confused, "Why? Is his death somehow related to me?"

Cai Yan smiled and shook her head before she turned to Yang Chen who was too busy eating and said with a scowl.

"Not you. Him!"

Ruoxi was stunned before she asked, "What does Yang Chen have to do with his death?"

Cai Yan wasn't shocked to see Yang Chen here since she already knew the circ.u.mstances between him and Ruoxi. How did she know, we'll Ruoxi herself told her after Cai Yan found out that it was Ruoxi's lawyer that bailed him out that day.

Ever since she found this out, she detested Yang Chen even more.

Cai Yan seeing Yang Chen eating food like this whole matter wasn't a big deal became angrier and thought, 'That face! It's like he doesn't care about anything! He thinks he can't take me seriously! We'll see about that!'

After some time, Wang Ma brought in 3 guests inside while having an awkward expression.

"Big Sis?! Why are you here?" Can Yan asked confused as the one who entered was her sister, Cai Ning.

Cai Ning's looks were similar to Cai Yan, but her figure was taller and more voluptuous. She had long black hair while wearing a skin-tight leather shirt and blue jeans, which outlined her slender curves.

Cai Ning's indifferent face as she walked inside, turned gentle and soft as she saw Cai Yan.

"I'm here to talk to that guy over there." Said Cai Ning softly, as she pointed at Yang Chen.

Can Ning was none other than the woman, Yang Chen saw a few days ago. She was part of the Yellow Flame Iron Brigade's 'Group of Eight'. Her codename was Flower Rain.

There were two groups that belonged to the Yellow Flame Iron Brigade. One was the 'Dragon group' that consists of over a hundred members. It also takes over a hundred secret agents from the Dragon Group to be on equal footing with the Group of Eight. Speaking of the Group of Eight, they were the best that China had to offer to protect their country when the time comes.

Suddenly, one of the guests that came in with Cai Ning shouted at Yang Chen with anger.

"It was you! You killed my cousin Zeng Xinlin!"

The other guest placed a hand on Mo Feng's shoulder in order to stop him from rushing at Yang Chen. This man's hair was rather long, it grew over his shoulder. He had a sculpted face, a well-built body, and a cross-shaped under his left eye. His code name was Sky Dragon.

(AN: This guy looks like Rurouni Kenshin btw.)

Sky Dragon only stopped him, not because he was worried over Mo Feng, but because he wanted to be the first to fight him, so he grinned as he looked at Yang Chen

Ruoxi hearing Mo Feng's statement became shocked.

Yang Chen sighed and got up from the table and headed toward the group.

'Welp, there goes my breakfast.' Thought Yang Chen.

Ruoxi came out of her shock as she saw Yang Chen next to her. She then put herself in front of him.

"No, you can't take him! He didn't kill Zeng Xinlin! The news stated that he died from a heart attack so Yang Chen can't be responsible!" Ruoxi defended Yang Chen as she was gripping her dress.

Yang Chen stared at Ruoxi and thought, 'She is still defending me even after what happened yesterday between us.'

Cai Ning smiled at Ruoxi and said, "You've got it all wrong. We just want to talk with him for a little bit."

Yang Chen placed a hand on Ruoxi's shoulder, making her turn to look at him.

He then smiled at her and said, "It's alright, it won't take long."

"But...Ok." Ruoxi was still a little reluctant, but seeing his confidence decided to not escalate this any further.

Cai Yan, who was staring at her sister asked a bit dejected, "Big sis, is this related to why you suddenly left when we were young?"

A gentle smile surfaced in Cai Ning's lips. She then reached out her hand and rubbed Cai Yan's face, "There's a reason why I'm not telling you, but one day when your security level is high enough, you'll naturally know what I'm doing."

Can Yan pouted but still revealed a contented smile. Cai Ning's words made her want to work harder to someday get to that position.

Yang Chen then left with the Group of Eight while the rest stayed inside the house. They didn't go anywhere, they just stayed in the front yard in order for the rest not to hear anything.

Cai Ning's mood changed as she looked at Yang Chen and said coldly, "It was you, wasn't it? You killed Zeng Xinlin?"

Yang Chen smirked and said, "And you have proof that I did it. The news said he died from a heart attack so how could I have killed him?"

"Yeah right! A healthy young man just dies from a heart attack with no warning, no nothing." Cai Ning sneered.

Cai Ning continued, "We may not have solid evidence, but we do know that Zeng Xinlin visited this place yesterday. So tell me how could he have met one of the most dangerous people in this country and die a few hours later?"

"Coincidences. People die every day from natural causes, why can't his be the same?" Yang Chen questioned.

"Bullshit! You killed him and you know it!" Mo Feng roared, as he wanted to rush Yang Chen when he was speaking.

Sky Dragon looked at Yang Chen and mumbled something underneath his breath, "Gray Robe said I should not underestimate this guy, but all I see is a coward with many excuses." He then shouted toward Yang Chen.

"Fellow with the surname Yang, let's spar! I don't think you're a threat to me!"

Yang Chen chuckled as he just heard the biggest joke.

Mo Feng hearing Yang Chen's chuckle grew furious and was about to attack him when he suddenly felt an enormous pressure all over his body.

Actually, all three of the Group of Eight felt this enormous pressure. Their breathing became haggard as it was getting difficult to breathe. They slowly started kneeling, trying to catch any form of air.

Mo Feng got it the worst. He was already laying on the ground as all his muscles started twitching at the sudden pain he was feeling.

"What are you guys on the ground for? I thought you said I wasn't a threat?" Yang Chen said indifferently.

Suddenly just as the pressure had appeared, it was gone the next moment.

Immediately all three of them started gasping for air.

Cai Ning although gasping for air still had the will to say, "Yang Chen...the Zeng family head knows you're the one behind his grandson's murder. We just came here to see if we can avoid any unnecessary deaths. You can't kill everybody, Yang Chen."

Yang Chen took out a card from his pocket and threw it to Cai Ning and said, "Who said anything about killing them? Show this card to them and whoever you want to. Even after, you all read this card and still try to pursue this matter then you'll make me force my hand. You guys can leave now."

Yang Chen then turned to head inside the house.

"Wait!" Shouted Cai Ning in desperation.

Yang Chen stopped but didn't turn back.

"Please...don't hurt my sister." Cai Ning said in pleading and desperate tone.

Yang Chen nodded and headed inside the house.

Cai Ning sighed in relief before she looked at the card and when she did, she became pale.

The other two, who had stabilized their breathing went over to Cai Ning and read the card. They also turned pale as a ghost especially Mo Feng as he started shaking in fear.

"We have to inform the General about this." Cai Ning said solemnly, making the other nod in unison.

The card had an image of a black eagle and red eyes. It also included the name of the owner of the most influential company in China right now. Soaring Eagle Corporation: Yang Chen.

(AN: About MC's personality, well I write these chapters mostly in the middle of the night, which makes my brain muddled. So do expect the MC to sometimes go off the rail with his character.)
