Chapter 40

Yang Chen walked inside his house and was surprised to find Ruoxi watching TV this late at night.

Ruoxi looked over to the sound of the door opening and saw Yang Chen walk in. She then said in a relieved tone, "You're finally back?!"

Yang Chen felt warmth. It seemed like she had waited for him to come home.

"I thought I told you not to wait up for me." Yang Chen said gently.

Ruoxi lowered her head like a child that has just done something wrong.

"I know, but...I just couldn't go to sleep...I was worried." Ruoxi said the last part with a mosquito-like voice.

Yang Chen smiled warmly, "It's okay." He then suddenly thought of the conversation with Rose about asking if Ruoxi and her can meet.

Yang Chen then sat next to Ruoxi and looked at her.

Ruoxi slightly blushed at how close they were but stayed quiet as she thought Yang Chem was going to say something to her.

"Ruoxi, would you like...to meet her." Yang Chen asked.

Ruoxi didn't respond as her heart felt a tinge of pain as she knew who he was talking about when he addressed 'her'.

Yang Chen noticing she wasn't saying anything, said sincerely, "If you don't want to do this, then it's perfectly fine."

Ruoxi bit her lip, "Can you give me some time...to think about it?"

"Of course." Yang Chen replied.

"I'll be heading to bed now." Ruoxi said as she got up and made her way to the stairs. She had a lot of things to think about.

As Ruoxi was making her way up the stairs she suddenly stopped and turned to look at Yang Chen.

"Welcome home." Ruoxi said gently before she ran to her room with a slight blush on her face.

Yang Chen smiled warmly before he headed up as well.

(2 days later)

It has been two days and it was now the weekend. Today was the day of the Fashion Show event over at Yu Lei International.

The small family had just finished having breakfast before Ruoxi turned toward Yang Chen.

"Are you ready..to head over to Yu Lei?" Ruoxi asked with a little nervousness in her tone.

Today she was going to announce to everybody that she was now married. Yang Chen's identity would also be known by everyone after today.

Wang ma had given Ruoxi a thumbs up discreetly as a sign of good luck, making her blush slightly.

When Yang Chen was passing by the security checks to get inside the garage, they all had dumbfounded faces when the saw their cold boss was inside a random guy's car. They didn't dare keep them waiting any longer and let them in.

Yang Chen then parked the car and got off with Ruoxi.

Ruoxi blushed and clung to his arm. Before she would feel uncomfortable when she would cling to his arm but now, every time she's close to him, her heart just can't calm down.

They then walked together toward the exhibition center where the event was being displayed.

Yu Lei had its own venue built inside the building for yearly events like this.

As they were walking, every single person that passed by them had a face full shock as they saw their boss, who had never been this personally close to a male before.

The cold CEO that had been a normal thing for everyone was nowhere to be found and what was shown was a beautiful woman looking bashful, making her look even more alluring.

They finally made it to the venue and were backstage since it was packed in the audience. Ruoxi had made it publicly known that the CEO of Soaring Eagle Corporation would be announced at this event and on live television.

This had the people thinking. Why was be being announced over at Yu Lie International? People speculated that she had some kind of intimate relationship with this person but then again, they were just rumors.

Ruoxi took a deep breath and asked "Ready?"

Yang Chen smiled and nodded.

Ruoxi was a bit confused and asked, "You're not nervous?"

Yang Chen chuckled and said, "Should I be?"

Ruoxi slightly blushed in embarrassment, "Well...no..."

Yang Chen chuckled once more, "I think the audience is waiting for you now."

Ruoxi slightly panicked and left toward the stage. As she was walking toward the microphone, she slowly regained her calm and professional attitude when she would become a CEO.

The audience was packed mainly, with reporters as they all wanted to know the identity of the most influential man in China.

Qianni and Liu Mingyu were there as well since they had to make sure nothing goes wrong at events like this but they also wanted to know that man's identity.

"Good morning, everybody. Today I have an announcement to make and it's about the CEO of the Soaring Eagle Corporation." Ruoxi said as she spoke to everybody at this venue.

"He is here with us right now so how about you give a warm welcome to Yang Chen."

All the reporters got ready with their cameras in order to take photos of this mystery man.

Yang Chen hearing his queue started walking toward the stage with a smile on his face.

All the reporters became slightly surprised when they saw that this man was young and had average looks but they quickly started taking photos.

Mo Qianni and Liu Mingyu were absolutely shocked when they saw Yang Chen coming to stage. How could they have known that this man was the most influential person in China.

Ruoxi then passed the microphone to Yang Chen to let him talk to the audience.

Yang Chen took the microphone and said, "Hello everybody. As you can see, I am the CEO of the Soaring Eagle Corporation. I would like to thank Yu Lie International for having me."

Yang Chen then passed the microphone back to Ruoxi.

That's it?

Everybody thought.

Ruoxi had a slightly awkward expression but quickly composed herself. She then turned to the audience and said, "Well, everyone I have a secret announcement to share with you guys."

The audience perked up. They all started to listen attentively.

"I have gotten married recently. And my husband is..."

Ruoxi then put the mic back in the podium and looked toward Yang Chen. She was about to do something she has never done before.

Ruoxi kissed Yang Chen on the cheek before clinging to his arm with a lovely smile on her face. Her heart was pounding so hard that her legs were going weak so she gripped onto Yang Chen's arm tighter for support.

Everybody was flabbergasted. Yang Chen was also surprised at how bold Ruoxi was but on the outside, he kept a smile on his face.

Soon everybody came out of their shock, stood up from their seats, and started clapping.

*Clap, Clap, Clap...*

Some people even whistled and congratulated them.

For some reason, Ruoxi felt really happy when she heard their cheers.

Some of the reporters who weren't shocked as much like the rest had managed to take great pictures. They even managed to get the one where Ruoxi had kissed Yang Chen on the cheek.

The only people who hadn't gotten up and clapped like the rest were Mo Qianni and Liu Mingyu. They were still shocked by the announcement. Qianni already knew but she was mainly surprised by the attitude Ruoxi was giving Yang Chen. Liu Mingyu on the other hand was still at a loss for words. Yang Chen's wife was actually her boss!

When cheers died down, Ruoxi picked up the microphone and said, "This will be all for the announcements. Hope you can enjoy our Fashion Show."

Ruoxi then put the microphone back in the podium and left while clinging onto Yang Chen's arm.

When they were backstage, Ruoxi let go of his arm and started panting rapidly.

"What's wrong?" Yang Chen asked worriedly.

Ruoxi eyes slightly turned red and spoke in a soft tone.

"Sorry for doing that...back there. I just..."

Yang Chen didn't let her continue before he walked in front of her and kissed her forehead.

"It's alright." Yang Chen said while smiling warmly.

Ruoxi's brain stopped working for a few seconds. Her face then turned bright red just like a tomato.

'Did he just...' Ruoxi thought before she replayed the scene in her mind and she blushed even more.

It took a good few minutes before she calmed down but she still had mild blush on her cheeks. Yang Chen just watched her while chuckling secretly.

Ruoxi then walked slowly in front of Yang Chen and gripped his shirt gently.

"I'll meet her." Ruoxi said softly.

"Huh?" Yang Chen was confused.

Ruoxi looked up and gazed at Yang Chen's eyes. If you can see, Ruoxi eyes became more tender as she looked at him.

"I said, I'll meet her." Ruoxi repeated.

Yang Chen now understood what she was talking about. He then smiled warmly and said, "Ok."
