“Don’t worry, you’ll love the place.”
“...What do you mean?” Said Husby while seemingly shielding Wifey from Naell’s cold gaze.
Both Yetis were afraid and very much wanted to run. Because of that Naell immediately sighed and further explained what he was talking about, “What I mean to say is that you can live in the forest near Beryldot.”
The two yetis looked at each other bewildered by the proposition. It was then when Naell added on, “I promise, you can both live there in peace.”
“…Your father ‘baron’, will not hunt us?”
Wifey and Husby somehow knew Naell was telling the truth, yet it was still rather unbelievable. Afterall, monsters were not welcome in most, if not, all peaceful habitats.
Some would say it was cruel, however, with a track record of wreaking havoc, no monster would blame other races for being prejudiced.
Yet now, two powerful monsters were being offered a place they could call home, with cohabitant permission from the baron’s son.
Husby then asked with a serious gaze onto Naell. “What is the…catch?”
Naell smiled as he replied, “You, have to be sure that you fully dominate the lands you’ll live in.”
Upon seeing everyone’s shocked eyes, Naell then added, “And of course, control your peers so peace will remain between us, and you.”
Sajae and Drhys were in awe. If both Yetis accept Naell’s proposition, that would mean their territory will not just resolve the problem of invading monsters, but bandits and other criminal elements will be prevented.
Not only would this pact secure the forest, but it will also lessen the amount of gold they need to invest in security. A win-win for the village of Beryldot and their new allies.
“We accept, Sire Naell!” Said Husby as Wifey clasped her hands together and nodded.
Hearing their approval, Naell reached a hand out to the furry beings. Husby and Wifey then sandwiched his hand with their large paws, and all three finally shook on the deal.
Truth be told, the idea of finding a caretaker for Beryldot’s Forestlands, has been a long time in the making. On the same day that Naell first visited the forest of Lagupa, the idea sparked, and he immediately discussed the prospect of new security with his father.
‘The pact between the Pegasus Tribe and the Kingdom of Taglagas guaranteed some protection over Lagupa. It’s time Beryldot has something similar.’ Naell thought in satisfaction before gazing once more at the yetis.
Both of the fuzzy beings' eyes were resolute as they held each others' hands, much like some lovey-dovey couple Naell himself knew.
He could only smile wryly and think how perhaps those two would get along with his Uncle and Auntie.
‘I should probably write a letter as soon as I get back.’ He thought knowing Beryldot will also smile from their soon-to-be keepers- better yet, their unusually fuzzy neighbors.
Upon further discussion, they then decided that the yetis would meet the knights of Beryldot first preferably in that same forest.
They would then be escorted safely and hereinafter live in the Forestlands- the location near the estate brimming with monsters.
When all was said and done, Naell and the scholars decided to head off while the Yetis returned to their now temporary residence.
As they arrived and allowed the door to the Guildhall swing open, all the beings there were surprised to see Sajae and Drhys in one piece.
It seemed that although both were famous, their appearance was not well-known. Yet it wasn’t as shocking as scholars, like mages, had a tendency to be eccentric.
They then reported the findings making the room tense. If what they were saying was factual, the guild would need to dispatch high-ranking adventurers to investigate the unveiled dungeon.
“No, someone named should go.” Said the Guildleader while scratching his chin. While they were by no means weak, just descriptions of the piercing aura they felt, not to mention the cryptic look and concealment of the dungeon, made them understand it was beyond their capability.
The discussion then headed to what Sajae and Drhys had discovered. All of the beings inside the guild’s discussion were surprised to learn they were the esteemed "East And West Scholars."
“We were worried for nothing, HAHA!” Exclaimed one of the members.
Regardless of how the duo's faces were not known, their reputation greatly preceded them.
Frankly, they were treated as equals by named mages and artists already, although the two considered themselves below them as they were more suited for studies than for combat.
However, the Guildleader’s face became grim as a realization dawned on him. He then said, “So even the two of you, huh? We’re just lucky you found it early.”
All of them nodded, knowing he was pertaining to the dungeon they found. Of course, they omitted the part with the lovey-dovey Yetis.
The Guildleader then rubbed his nape to self-soothe. Now knowing that the frosted snowman, his famed buddy Owly, and the two named scholars retreated, he could only imagine how troublesome their dungeon raid would be.
Silently, he then glanced at the four oddballs standing before him.
On one hand, they had the scholars of the East and West who most of the time, carelessly charge head-on in the name of discovery.
While on the other hand, they had the Baron’s so-called “once” villainous son, who changed into the knight in shining armor of many.
Still, rumor has it that he was extremely lazy, thus if there was ever a mission, he’d be seen overwhelming the trouble with power.
He then eyed the unusual party of adventurers in front of him.
“Thank you for this report, we will immediately request aid. In the meantime, we would appreciate it if you guys could stay until help arrives.” Sternly added the Guildleader. Having those four was reassuring no matter how weird they were.
All of them (including the reluctant young master of Beryldot) agreed. Thus, Naell and Owly accompanied Drhys and Sajae as they were placed on standby.
For a while, they all stayed at the guild quarters awaiting the news from the main guild.
Via the magical screen invented by Esquel Co. the guild of Taglagas responded swiftly, assuring that help was already on their way.
“The adventurers will be led by Rumi Cabalyer, the ‘Twelveling’.” Loknar said through the magical call.
As Naell had seen his senior’s abilities firsthand, he was reassured that the Vice Guildmaster actually took their report gravely.
While there was a chance it was nothing, if their discovery really was another ploy the Pieces of Lucille crafted for destruction, the likes of a named mage and martial artist really should be present.
‘Sorry Kid, if only I was in Taglagas.’
Naell could only sigh. Odino, another adventurer he would find comforting to have in the raid, was on the Northern Continent busy mingling with high-ranking nobles across Mundo.
It was the North’s celebration of freedom from the abolition of nobles, an event annually held every first sign of Summer.
Since the Northern Continent was always correlated with the season of Winter, Summer could only be felt there for one month.
And although it was Summer, one would still need to wear long garbs due to the constant chill the air still brought forth.
Nonetheless, Naell still missed Odino at times like that. Considering how threatening the mana and aura they felt back then were, the first course of action should’ve been evacuation.
Yet as the Guildleader said, just like any beings, some would simply stay as they wished not to abandon their home. Naell could more or less understand as even back on Earth, regardless of the forecasts and forewarning of floods, earthquakes, and the like, some would not leave.
Luckily by the time the night grew, no harm had come, and only the stars that twinkled for everyone's eyes arrived.
