Chapter 99 - She Has Left Me!

Yang Xinyu went to the kitchen to get an ice pack, while dialing the family physician. He came back and sat next to her, pressing the ice pack against her lips. She winced yet again, and turned her face away in pain. Worried, he scooped her into his arms and on to his l.a.p, gently pressing the ice pack against her cheek once more.

He stroked her back softly and murmured, "I'm so sorry. How do you feel?"

Wu Lina gave in and, resting her face on his shoulders, started sobbing uncontrollably. "Yang Xinyu, is it really so… so… difficult for the world to… to… accept me?" she asked tearfully. Her shoulders shook with her cries.

"I think when it comes to filial relationsh.i.p.s, I'm a building that everybody abandoned. Like the Titanic as it sunk."

"Shh… don't talk," he said.

He laid her on the bed, her tusseled braid resting against the white pillow.

"I'm fine," Wu Lina said quietly. She looked like a lamb, wide red-rimmed eyes and pale cheeks. She brought her palm forward and cupped Yang Xinyu's face as he leaned over her.

"I love you," she whispered as if he was her oasis and she was stranded on a desert.

"I love you too Lina," he breathed as he captured her hand against his face.

"You look exhausted. Why don't you sleep?" he said softly as he removed the ice pack from her face.

"I feel a little restless."

Wu Lina didn't want to mention the pain she was in, as she didn't want to upset him.

But he knew her too well. He remained quiet and gazed at her with his dreamy eyes unusually intense. He rested his head against her soft mounds and curled his arms around her. Wu Lina's c.h.e.s.t heaved under her dress and Yang Xinyu was reminded of a frightened rabbit. "Please don't be afraid baby… I didn't know mother would come here…"

"The security will stay here all the time. Please manage yourself for me… all right darling?" he tightened his arms around her.

Wu Lina felt rested, a blankness covered her like a blanket of warmth. Her eyes felt heavier and heavier and she closed her eyes finally sleeping. She would often shiver a little.

An hour went by as they lied in that position for a long time until Yang Xinyu sensed that her breathing became normal. He got up slightly and saw that she was sleeping. He stroked her forehead and kissed it lightly. He got out of the bed, covered her with the blanket and walked out of the bedroom silently closing the door behind him.

Mrs. Jiao had come by then. She had already heard about the incident and was scared that the young master would fire her. She met him in the living room.

Yang Xinyu stared at her furiously. "Where were you?" he asked.

"I had gone to buy groceries young master," she replied weakly.

Her answer made him snap. Shaking with rage he came near her and said, "You dumb woman, never ever leave her alone when I am not around. Now go!"

Mrs. Jiao scurried away towards the kitchen.

Yang Xinyu called his office and asked them to clear his entire schedule of the day. He had to stay beside her. No he wanted to stay beside her.

He went inside the bedroom and lied down next to her. Lying on his side facing Wu Lina he noticed that the cut on her lips had resulted in a swelling, which didn't subside as effectively. His heart wreathed in pain and a tear rolled out.

He was caught up in a carousel of thoughts. Every event that occurred that day was replaying in his mind. He wanted to analyze everything. But when he would be close to drifting off, his anxiety would start. He shifted near Wu Lina, his face just a few centimeters away from her.

He thought anxiously, 'Will she leave me now?' He took her small hand in his and curled them together. He shifted nearer.

'Don't leave me…'

The carousel finally came to a stop when sleep overtook him.

He had to attend an official gathering in the evening but he cancelled it.

Wu Lina woke up late at 5pm in the evening. She turned her head towards Yang Xinyu who was sleeping adjacent to her. She took her hands to his handsome face and stroked it lightly. She got out of the bed feeling as though her body is tied with a thousand kilo weight. She trembled a little before becoming steady on her feet and went to take a shower.

Sensing that there was no one beside him Yang Xinyu leapt out of the bed and rushed out of the bedroom. He called Mrs. Jiao.

"Where is Wu Lina?"

"Young master I don't know…" she replied frightened of him.

'She has left me!' He darted out of the house with a pale face.

The security men were standing there and he asked them, "What time did Ms. Wu leave the house?"

They all were surprised until one of them said, "We haven't seen her leaving."

Yang Xinyu was confused. He went back to the bedroom where he could hear the water running in the shower. He smiled slightly and hurried to the bathroom. She finished taking bath and dried herself.

"How are you feeling now?" he asked her softly.

"I am fine," she replied with the semblance of a smile wrapping the towel around.

Her lip still hurt badly but the print on the face had disappeared.

"Do you want something?" he asked.

"No," she replied quietly.

"Will you leave me?"

Wu Lina darted a look at him and said, "Do you want me to?"

"Hell no! No, no, no! I'd be lost without you Wu Lina. Please don't leave," he begged her.

"But I am not leaving you!" she cried out loud. "Why do you keep getting these crazy ideas?" she rebuked him even though it was painful for her to talk.

"Oh thank you darling!" he hugged her from behind, his fears dissolving like magic.
