Chapter 150 - The Wedding (1)

The wedding was in a week's time and the entire Yang Conglomerate was excited about it. Even though it was impossible to invite everybody, Chairman Yang invited officials belonging to senior levels only. The younger ones were given a party separately in the city's most exclusive five star hotel. Yang Xinyu and Wu Lina were present there along with the Chairman. There were over thousand employees that feasted that day. The couple received so many gifts that the hotel staff had problems stacking it up.

On the stage Yang Xinyu and Wu Lina's hands were aching because so many wanted to just shake hands with their boss and his wife. Yang Xinyu wondered if it would have been much better for them to register their marriage and fly off for their honeymoon. He hadn't disclosed to anyone where they would go for their honeymoon. But his father insisted on these grand-scale wedding affairs. For a moment he was angry with his father and shot a glare at him. But when he saw how he was beaming throughout the function, his heart melted. He wished his mother were there. It would have been such a beautiful family picture.

Yang Xinyu and Wu Lina left the function when they were too exhausted.

The marriage had to be registered. Even though the wedding was on the Sunday, the Chairman asked the registry officials to make the certificate on that day itself. Yang Xinyu and Wu Lina didn't go to the registry office. The officials were more than honored to come over to their penthouse to take their photographs and get the form filled with their signatures. They said they would deliver the marriage certificate on Sunday.

The week started and everyone began preparing for the wedding. The Chairman had taken one week's leave from the office to take care of the details. He was at the helm of all the arrangements. He was overseeing everything right from the flower arrangements to the dinner and the priests.

The wedding was supposed to take place in the Yang Mansion's spacious lawns. Although the earlier plan was to have the wedding in the city hall, but it was cancelled because Yang Xinyu's mother was not allowed to go anywhere. With the wedding at the lawns of the mansion she would be able to see it from her balcony. The Chairman knew that people would ask about her absence, so he gave an official statement that Mrs. Yang was very unwell.

Yang Xinyu would continuously ask his father whether he needed any assistance in the preparations but his father would dismiss him all the time, not because Yang Xinyu couldn't do the work, but because the Chairman wanted complete control on what he was doing. He didn't like anyone meddling, including his son. This was the wedding of the heir of the Yang Corporation and it had to be the most memorable one.

Invitations of the wedding were exotic. Each invite was printed with gold on red colored papyrus paper. The invites were accompanied with a bag full of pearls. But the family members received gold jewelry sets along with the invites. The list of guests included big names from business, politics, sports, media and the movie industry.

He had called an artist from the movie industry to decorate the venue. The artist left no stone unturned in showing his skills. Flowers from across the world were ordered to fly in the city two days earlier. The color theme of the party was lavender since Wu Lina loved that color and so most of the flowers was lavender and related shades.

The stage artist wanted to bring the groom for the wedding in a white helicopter akin to a knight in a shining armor, only that his horse was a modern helicopter. Zhou Zhili was in charge of all the decorations. When she listened to this idea from him, she thought how ridiculous it was. But she wondered if these were the ways of the wealthy, so she thought of consulting it with the Chairman. The Chairman immediately approved. It would look magnificent and all the guests would be highly impressed.

The lawns were neatly manicured. A large group of gardeners were employed to ready the lawns within five days. Artificial musical fountains were set up on all sides. Almost 350 guests were invited. A huge glass marquee was constructed in the garden with a cost of over ten million Yuan. Large tables, which could seat fifteen guests each, were ordered. The tables and chairs were decorated with lavender colored silk cloth with red sashays.

The qipao, which Wu Lina had to wear, was embellished with golden thread. It was exotically crafted. It was delivered to her at the penthouse. When Wu Lina saw it, she held her breath. It was so beautiful. She had to wear a tiara also. A veil apart from all the jewelry was also part of the dress that was sent to her from the Chairman's side. The dress was paired with four-inch red Manolo Blahnik heels. When Wu Lina tried it for a dress rehearsal, she felt that she would fall on the ground. The heavy dress accompanied with those heals were agonizing. The stylist would come everyday and instruct her on how to walk in those heals and qipao.

Yang Xinyu pitied his bride. But he loved it. He would often watch her with admiration while she would rehearse for the ceremony.

Like a bad rich boy he didn't go to the office for that week either. It was his wedding after all.

The stage artist had already set a design for them and a day before the wedding the worker started decorating the place with the flowers. Columns of flowers including roses, gerberas, peonies, marigold, tulips and snowballs were constructed. A flower-bedecked canopy was created where the actual ceremony had to take place.
